Are you sick of game stores that break street date?

While I'm waiting to preload the game on PSN someone have already sold their 2nd hand copies of the Order 1886.

I'm sick of game stores that break street date and I'm sick of publishers that do nothing to fix the problem.

nah i love it. I got my XB1 and so many games weeks before officially released, You would to if your local game store did this.

If you are excited to play a game, you want to play it early. Where i am they cut street date by a minimum 1-2 weeks every time.

I dont post spoilers or vids or anything - but yes i love when it happens.

I like it. I like being excited for a game and call a game store to find out whether or not they sell it early.

I remember all the shit I got form GAF about getting Bioshock Infinite early and finishing it really quickly and disliking it... good times :D ;)

Hey check it out... Cancel your pre-order, go get a used copy of the game... Profit?

Also you must have an easy life if this is top of your gripe ladder ;o)

Why shold I?
It's a chance to get a game I want earlier than I expect it.

Of course, not every country is like the US, where it's somehow against the law to break a street date.

Well, thanks to that I get most of the 3DS latest releases at least two days before, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Waiting for the game to be released and checking if you can already get it in your hometown can be really frustrating and stressful though.

I don't really mind. Is it inconsiderate to the developers / publishers? Sure, but that doesn't affect me. If I'm sick of anyone, it's the people who are too impatient to wait an extra day for the actual release. When I went to pick up Smash Bros at launch, the old man working at Wal Mart told me that there were a bunch of people in the store yesterday practically begging him to give them the game early. Have some patience, people.

Loving it.

This thread rememinds me of a friend I had when I was in junior high school. Everytime when he got a game early he said something like "I wish only you and me could play this game." lol. Weird jealousy freaks me out.

it's the norm where I live. I remember getting TLOU a week before its official launch.

EDIT: Speaking of early game releases. A shop I frequent brought my copy of The Order: 1886 c:

Are you kidding me? If anything, actual people getting games before street date means I can get a better/unbiased look at a game before it comes out. Why would that ever be a bad thing?

Generally, I can't see this as a negative, sorry.

I love it. I get everyday almost 2-3 days earlier here in Germany. I power through them if I got the time and sell them sometimes for the same price as I bought them.

This is one of the reasons why I don't see a digital only future. Yes I have Steam myself and yes it is cool, but the reason why so many people use it is that it's always cheaper than buying a physical copy.

I think that there is always probability that some shop will start selling early, so publishers know about it and buyers know about it. It's not such a big deal, imo. Part of the market.

It doesn't hurt anyone so not seeing the big deal. Don't see how it hurts developers or anything either.

The only way it can possibly hurt a developer is perhaps truths come out that developers don't want coming out before people get suckered into buying.

I'm sick of publishers enforcing street dates for artificial purchases.

Its your problem if you pre-order digitally.

It's awesome that people can get it early. Look at all the info we've gotten about The Order from people who've got it early. The "five hour playtime" rumour has been completely debunked as FUD for example.

How could this ever be a bad thing?

People who like it is people who have benefit from it anyway.
I don't benefit from it and I still like it. You are wrong.

Edit: Actually, scratch that, everyone benefits from it, myself included. Getting to know more about the game as soon as possible can't be a bad thing.

I hate street dates tbh.

"Hi game shop owner I'd like that awesome game"

"Nope sorry can't have that one"

"Why I can see it right there?"

"That game isn't out yet"

"But it's there right in your hands."

Seriously WTF.

Nah. But I hate spoilers. MGS4's ending was posted several days prior to the street date. So, when MGSV goes gold, I'm unplugging my Ethernet cables and going dark. But good for those who get to play the games early.
