A new anime has been announced as part of Sunrise's 50th anniversary, commemorating the classic mecha series Armored Trooper VOTOMS. This is the first new VOTOMS project in over 15 years, now with Oshii at the helm.
Plot for the original 1983 anime: "The end of the 100 year war between the planets Bavalant and Melkia does not allow Melkian soldier Chirico Cuvie a moment of peace. His accidental involvement in a clandestine mission places him in danger, requiring him to escape and attempt to survive on what is left of his war-torn homeworld."
