Thanks for the information, Tiamant. :)
I'll add the multiplayer info to the OP.
I'm assuming there isn't a day/night cycle or anything similar?

People complaining about the graphics are way too self-entitled, which is odd b/c you don't see the same level of griping in the 3DS threads, despite the terrible IQ of that device (and yes, I own one, so I know first-hand).

As soon as there's a handheld device that offers an on-par experience in terms of gameplay and graphics for less than $250, then you can complain your heads off; but until then, get your self-entitled heads out of your dirty buttholes. Jeesh.

I am so psyched for this game, and thanks to all the fellow GAF'ers for their early impressions.

There is a WORLD of difference between seeing these screens on a LED monitor as compared to the vita.

looks amazing. Never been a fan of AC but i may bite this time. PLus the game kinda reminds me of RDR. Games like RDR or ME etc... could fit Vita really well imo

Could you post a picture with more NPCs in it? From the above, the city streets aren't nearly populated enough..

Nice OT! I'll definitely be grabbing this one down the road and jumping into this thread. This and PASBR are going to make my Vita purchase totally justified. Can't wait!

Regarding the question about day-night cycle I'm pretty certain there is. I just finished one mission and when I came back to the map, the screen went from morning to afternoon in 2 seconds. Also there has been night and dawn missions so yeah, once I end up tutorial land I'm pretty sure time will flow normally.

He said earlier there were 20 in one place. Sounds fine to me. Too many people around in console versions (IMO) i hate walking into them and falling over all of the time.

da hell man :( now I'm hyped as fuck! But gonna have to buy this or Ragnarok next week.

If I don't buy it day 1 don't worry Ubi Sofia...I will definitely buy this game. You guys seems to have done a wonderful job at it.

I actually think the MP mode could turn out to be fun.

Great, thanks.

Also, does clicking on the "Multiplayer" section bring up any options or does it immediately try to connect to PSN?

It tries to connect and the server error cames up.

Hype too. I think I'll get this on cart though, assuming it will be fairly sizeable and I'm running out of space.

AC3 on PS3 on the other hand, I might get digital. I like that Sony now has day-1 digital. :)

But we'll see when I get that, first the Vita version I think.

Also, would it be a good idea to make a separate spoiler thread for this game?

EDIT: and the screens are amazing, holy shit Tiamant.

This game does a poor job hiding the other locations, opened the menu and just saw it :(

-New Orleans
-Swamp
-Chichén Itzá

Both of those are already known, one of them is even in the OP

I was hoping there would be more than just the three. There is also another one (don't know how large / long it is though) -
You travel to the north east to do a mission with Conner

I hope there's more then that.
Chichén Itzá
was revealed a month ago.

At the very least, I hope it's as spacious as the bayou or New Orleans.

EDIT: Yeah, HamPster PamPster is right, there's also one mission in
New York
, apparently.

Them pictures look might fine viewing on Vita. Artifacts and all. Would love to try this but am still leaning on NFS. I just added to so I have 44 allotted for either this or NFS.

Spoilers must... not... highlight...

How easy is it to switch disguises? Are they affecting gameplay in ways you think add realism to the stealth?

I'll probably buy this to boost me up to the $100... pretty hyped.

Man, those screenshots really kind of ruin the magic. I always wondered how it looked so impressive in the trailers but now I see that they made massive cuts to image quality, texture filtering, and model complexity.

Still, it's impressive that they've managed to deliver a full-on AC experience.
I wouldn't worry too much. Vita shots are so compressed and always look so much worse than direct footage/gameplay.

How big is the city? Similar to console AC games? (Sorry if you answered this, haven't seen it)

I really don't know, so far everythings new, there seems to be a lot of neighbourhoods and the atention to detail is impressive. At my store we give a map as a preorder gift and judging by that the city seemed as big as Firenze in AC2.

I'll try to take screenshot of the map later, now I'm going to eat something or I'll faint.

Curious about the whole play as Connor on the Vita thing when you hook it up to the PS3 version. It must just be extra missions right?

An IGN preview said you could play as connor or aveline in the same mission(s?) after unlocking him.

Holy cow, looking good!

The only AC I played was the first one, and I didn't really enjoyed it... but damn, I'm tempted by Liberation.

Re image quality (setting aside the fact it looks better on the Vita, that it is an open world game) even if it was native there is always that gap vs. home consoles that will become wider over time. I think it can be mitigated to some extent by improving how a game looks in other ways like having good animations which is what a series like AC can do better than a lot of other games, even on a portable.

Game looks splendid, but it's still another case of me wishing for static shadows and a native resolution over all the fancy self-shadowing stuff.

Sounds brilliant!

Yeah you go eat, not to worry :) Look forward to seeing the map

Tiamant... I keep reading about blurry graphics and bad framerate.. can you pæease comment on this..?

Blurry graphics -> subnative res.
Dont know about the framerate issues, but one preview complained about them.

EDIT:

You go into changing rooms scattered around the city to switch outfits.

I've been watching this game closely as it's quality and lasting appeal will probably decide if I buy a Vita early next year or wait until the price drops. The story seems to be very original and the setting is one of the best they could have chosen for a game like this.

The combat looks a little bit rougher than the console version but that was to be expected. For a portable game, Liberation looks really good visually for the most part, but I honestly wasn't expecting that much aliasing. It's not Gravity Daze level, but it's pretty bad. Is that due to the game running in sub-Vita resolution?
