"vast open world is full of unexpected discoveries"

Will those discoveries really be so unexpected? Or will we find shitty diablo style loot, chests with currency, and outposts filled with braindead AI enemies everywhere?

Never understood this. The combat is much better, but the world is even more copy-pasted and formulaic than AC games. The stealth is waaaay worse.

???

Gameplay wise, it looks significantly better than past ACs. The stealth alone is the best the series has ever seen (which isn't a high bar).

Ghost of tsushima is the closest we can get to a reliable representation of the samurai and Japanese culture of the time. It is truly a visual marvel. Even better than the AC trailer.

They definitely know how to create Worlds.
Yep...their open world maps are probly the best industry wide. Also their game optimizations are pretty damn nice.

Its usually the the stories/characters who never catches me. And their pricing/monetezation is awful nowadays. And their launcher/Epic only policy sucks. And this nonsense political agenda stuff which needs to be injected everywhere. I literally stopped buying their stuff on release for this reasons.

The visuals are pretty good. I have my doubts about the gameplay tho.
That's what I wanna know. Is ubi gonna learn their lesson and lower the blot? I want to like their ass games way more than I do and this is a major reason holding my enjoyment back.

Dynamic weather? I didn't play Valhalla but that's something that would intrigue me; do it zelda style. Maybe seasons too?

Yeah, it is a pretty game. My problem was that it didn't have much in the way of variation in those visuals (not that you can expect much variation in biome for a game in that setting; the copy-pasted buildings/outposts are more unforgivable) or gameplay. AC is a league above it in terms of gameplay other than the combat, so the sequel has a lot to improve on. AC also has significantly better outpost/level design, which is important in a stealth game.

Personally, Ghost of Tsushi couldn't keep my attention for more than 15 hours (burned out in the second area). By that point, it felt like I had experienced everything it had to offer. Online impressions also told me things don't really change from there, and even the DLC was more of the same. Say what you want about AC, but it's always kept my attention for more than 15 hours (with the exception of Valhalla), and the DLCs are aways big shifts from the main game.

It looked pretty good until the horse entered the scene. Why show something that badly animated in a trailer? It's sliding on the ground, it's very weird.

Haven't played an AC since syndicate, the Ubi template just wore out its welcome with me on that one.

While the worlds always look cool to me, the often touted 100+ hr playtime of the recent entries puts me off.

If this has a less than 30hr range I could be tempted.

Mirage is what you are looking for. Outside of that..yeah everything is much longer.

This would have to be a 90+ meta for me to consider. Valhalla was so bad. Incredibly grindy and repetitive game with no reward for the 50+ hours of time spent.
It's better to use Odyssey as a benchmark imo, cuz it's the Odyssey team making this. Odyssey is my fav AC and I thought Valhalla was almost torture with how much of a slog it was to play through. I expect less Valhalla and more Odyssey here if anything.

Game hasn't even come out, and it already looks visually dated. Or at least this trailer does, not that looking almost identically to valhalla is bad by any means, but i was hoping itd be a bigger jump since this isnt cross-gen. The world is usually Ubisofts strongest point, what theyve shown here looks a bit bland and (art) directionless or maybe my opinion is too skewed by playing Wukong too much.

How broken do you think this will be in early access (day -3), release (day 0), one week after release (day 7) and so on?

Ubisoft’s already admitted they’ve broken the Blu-ray version for a required online installation and SW Outlaws shows they’re only too happy to release a game with progression blockers requiring a save delete/restart, crashes to desktop, broken AI, broken trophies, poor balancing, goblin MC, animation and position warping glitches and so on.

Was Outlaws finally the game that broke the camel’s back or will people blindly day one another Ubifart.

Honestly it didn't not for me. Video looks boring. Happy for whoever is looking foward to it though, but got a feeling its just another generic open world from Ubi. Doesn't look like they have being changing recently with their boring as a slog type of gameplay in recent years.

I thought Xbox had the marketing rights for this? Guess it’s PlayStation

The Asian lady’s parkour in particular looks spectacular. The animation blending isn’t quiteeee as seamless or slick as Spider-Man but it feels like for the first time since 3,4 and Unity it’s actual parkour. AC1-Revelations and everything post unity is just… jumping. Hopping. This is visceral and fast and athletic

Why can't the go back to the original combat style of AC games? Valhalla onwards has been.... not that good.

It honestly has 1/10th of the atmosphere that Ghost of Tsushima has and that game came out over four years ago.

Even if on a graphical level there's probably a lot more impressive stuff going on with the global illumination and the ray tracing, Ubi's engine is just incapable of crisp clean visuals, it always looks a bit grainy. It's hard to explain.

I don't think I can manage another slog like Valhalla. Hoping the world is smaller and more interesting.
Valhalla had a lot of fat Ubisoft could have trimmed but the world is so clean I think the story is good, the raiding design is an all time achievement. It’s about traveling to distant lands, collecting loot, finding keys to open doors and basically going through environments where you get to use traditional combat to advance. There’s a reason it got an 80/100. Just something to think about.

Unfortunatelly I'm not into this silly techs like raytracing or whatever. I'm not even a graphical fetish, as long it doesn't look a visual poop like Scarlet and Violet, I'm fine with it.

What I do look though is visual and art direction, good characters, good gameplay and an openworld that is fun to explore and incentive me to explore without being a slog and ultra repetitive.
Now, I'm not saying this gonna be garbage, I could be totally wrong. But the game(and Ubi for that matter) so far didn't gave me reason to believe so. Ghost captivated me from the videos, they weren't selling a game with samurai elements, it was artistic game representing that era. Assassin Creed doesn't look like that and its sounds more like Vallhala(something along the lines of what if we make an Ass creed, but with X theme thing). Valhalla its another ultra slog game and I was honestly surprised people even like that game. Maybe people just want a little percentage brain usage game with vikings where they smack enemies with buttons and win? But thats just me.

It's definitely not going to be like odyssey and it's insane gear vomit and level gating, they got rid of those things for valhalla specifically because people complained and brought back requested features like social stealth and guaranteed assassinations on top.
Shadows will 100% play more like a mixture between valhalla and syndicate than odyssey or origins.

Nice environments! Ubisoft never misses on creating gorgeous worlds.

This is by Ubisoft Quebec who I would say is the AC B-Team (Montreal is #1 for me as they made AC2/Brotherhood/Revelations + AC4 (my favorite) + Origins as well as Far Cry 3, 4, 5 (all my favs)) so I will not get this game day 1, will wait for it to come to Steam and get the Ultimate/Gold edition on a sale.

Who did 3? I liked that one too

Montreal also.

But they made Valhalla though which was a huge blunder (even if best selling in the franchise)
The next major AC (AC Hexe) is being made by Ubi Montreal, which I'm pretty excited for - you play as a witch during the witch trials and apparently through the apple you have supernatural abilities like turning into a cat, making potions, rituals, etc - imo this is less AC but at this point the series who cares anymore lol, bring it on.

2026 release apparently, so new FC in 2025. +1 year for me (Steam release)

It will also totally overhaul the open world structure and progression systems apparently, basically same kind of massive change that we had from Unity to Origins

A lot of people are hating on this game for no reason, and comparing it with Ghost, I mean come on, it looks a lot better! And the hate on the black samurai, historic bulshit blah blah blah, just enjoy the game and the mechanics and hope that the story is actually good. I personally have been waiting for japanese ninja samurai creed for a long time !
