Actually, I just saw that bar-cutscene again, and seeing Baldur run and scrape his sword on the ground as if he was some anime character is just :lol :lol :lol
Mifune said:I haven't seen anything that's been "absolutely laughable." Some cringe-worthy moments, sure. But that's par for the video game course.
Nice edit, by the way.

Deja Vu.
Hunter D said:Writing sort of reminds me of Greek plays. Men in greek plays always boast about their fighting ability, sexual ability, and their own greatness. Greeks were also very sexual people.
Hunter D said:They had religious orgies and rich boys were sexuals servants to rich men until they became adults. If thats not sexual I don't know what is.
It seems like people that are bagging on the game really don't know anything about the game itself.
eh, you can have UE3 with zero texture pop in.godhandiscen said:So many doubters here. Now that they have gone past the point of complaining about the animations they decide to attack the writing. Good fucking thing Dyack switched from UE3 because I can only see the onslaught that would bring had the game showed massive texture pop-up in the scale of Mass Effect, or if it was rendered in a sub-HD resolution like CoD4, or lacked AA like the Orange Box. Also what I find sad is that besides a select list of classics, I haven't seen any game with good writing. Are people going to argue that games like Metal Gear Solid have good writing? Fuck no, the writing is horribly cheesy yet people still manage to love the story because of the quality of the events. Also, the JRPG's that people are so fond of here, have the worst fucking writing ever, yet people still praise the story in these games. Why do we have to see this double standard? Why I am not allowed to go into threads about games that people love and totally shit on them without being banned?
McDragon said:eh, you can have UE3 with zero texture pop in.
i rather wait 5 more sec of loading than to see Saren's whole body textures pop in right in my face.urk said:Sure, but you're going to suffer loading. So far every UE3 game has either liberal pop-in or liberal loading, and sometimes both.

We get the point already. damn.TheGreatDave said:I didn't want to get drawn in to it. Clearly you don't think the stuff is laughable or you wouldn't be defending it, and clearly I'm not going to change my mind, on account of it being laughable.
hmm...sounds like Gears of War which was nice.urk said:Yeah, Mass Effect falls into the sometimes both category.
Looks like SK has their engine sorted out. I saw a small, quick bit of pop-in in the recent videos, but it was nice and fast and, of course, no loading is going to be nice as well.

And the dialogue and acting are being handled by Kris Zimmerman who has done MGS/Kain/ED and many other great games.
Although I have to say, there better be no way you can find this type of dialog unacceptable and praise something like MGS

I thought the same exact thing. Seeing it all together presents the game in a much more positive way.Dark FaZe said:I think it looks great. Seeing just individual scenes of the combat alone here and there, videos here and there, etc seemed underwhelming at times. I don't know what is it though, but seeing it all working together has really done wonders for me. Instead of what I felt was likely to be just wandering from dungeon to dungeon without cutscenes fighting tons of enemies ala Dynasty Warriors I see various cuts from cameras, dynamic cutscenes and flashbacks, great enemy introductions, etc. After seeing that rare level 50 defender armor or w/e I don't think I'll be able to stop until I hit max level :lol.
Anyway great job to the team. I'm sure this game will sell really well and it looks like it'll be a ton of fun. I still would have liked to see some better animation work, but I think its now decent enough for me to be able to look past it and actually enjoy some of the better animations that are here and there. I'm sure it'll look a lot better on my tv in HD though in comparison to these small youtube like vids.

Edit: I think the writing in that scene is fine. It is meant to, IMO, play up on the tension between the sexual innuendo of that particular line (more for the rabble than anything else) and what the lines as a whole may connote on a larger scale about the characters and their complex relationships to one another.

Have you ever obtained every single item in an RPG before? I have, and it feels like part of you dies when there is nothing left to "achieve". 100,000 weapons is just Dyack's way of saying "The Lord Gives".ksamedi said:What the fuck am I going to do with more then 100 000 weapons. I know this is meant for the hardcore crowd but I'm having doubts as to how confusing all the custumization options are going to get. I hope this doesn't get too deep.

This is the way RPGs end!ksamedi said:So basically this will be the RPG that kills all other RPG's.
Ok, I am worried about the fact I cannot see these framerate drops. Can you please link me to one video with a framerate drop like that? I have yet to seen on, but a couple people have mentioned them. I am not saying that I do not believe them, is just that I have seen all the media for this game, over and over again in HD and SD, and haven't seen the so called framerate drops.antiloop said:I am worried by the framerate in some videos. Gameplay is fine, but cutscenes have plenty of framerate drops.godhandiscen said:Ok, I am worried about the fact I cannot see these framerate drops. xS1TH L0RDx said:Let's talk skill trees and min/maxing.
There appears to be one skill tree for each class, with three branches per tree, all leading to one "ultimate" talent.
Are you forced to pick and choose what talents you desire, or will you eventually just gain all talents once you hit the level cap? If you eventually gain all talents, then all one would have to do is hit the level cap to essentially hit "god mode". If the latter is true, then there would be no point in spec-ing your character and then the whole aspect of min/maxing would become kind of a joke.
Hopefully someone can provide some insight on this.
xS1TH L0RDx said:so, if anyone actually cared about that question, last night i hopped onto the toohuman.net boards and asked the same thing, i'll link you guys to the thread so you can see the answer. But i don't think min/maxing is going to be a joke![]()

urk said:Nice. I can't wait to dig in. We should get some Neogaf squads set up so we can choose complimentary classes and skills. I really, really hope they still have 4-player co-op integrated. I also hope we can save multiple playthroughs to one profile so I can have more than one build for multiplayer and single player experiences.
xS1TH L0RDx said:Why wouldn't you think they have 4 player co-op? Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't that been one of the main features of the game silicon knights has been pimping for a while now?
I saw a few other posts that said the same thing a couple days ago, I'm just curious as to why people are nervous about that.
tha_con said:I mean really? Robots taking over the human race? REALLY!? This coming from Dyack who was so bitter about his game coming under the magnifying glass...really? You know, if I had a game, which I don't, and the main plot was the...generic and over done...well I'd just keep quiet.
