House Democrats Are Coming For Brett Kavanaugh

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee asked the National Archives Tuesday to release documents from Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s service in the George W. Bush White House.

The request tracks Democratic promises to scrutinize Kavanaugh even after his confirmation to the Supreme Court.

“The Senate Judiciary Committee received only a small fraction of Justice Kavanaugh’s White House records before voting on his nomination,” Democratic Reps. Jerry Nadler of California and Henry Johnson of Georgia wrote in a letter to the Archives. Nadler chairs the Judiciary Committee, while Johnson leads a subcommittee that oversees the federal bench.

“Now and as always, the Court’s fidelity to the principles of equal and impartial justice, as well as the public’s faith in the integrity of the judiciary, are foundational to maintaining the rule of law,” the pair wrote elsewhere.

Kavanaugh held two positions in the Bush administration. From 2001 to 2003 he was a lawyer in the White House counsel’s office. Thereafter, he served as staff secretary until his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 2006. The National Archives has processed records from Kavanaugh’s tenure as White House counsel, according to the Nadler-Johnson letter. Additional items will be available pursuant to the Presidential Records Act beginning in 2021.

This will be shot down or ignored since the house has nothing to do with confirming SC justices.

Are they actually going to try impeaching a SC justice? Lol. This has to be just red meat for the base.

Oh this is going effing nohwere.

I am no Trump supporter (or Republican supporter for the most part), but Trump in the White House has broken so many of them. While I know the Republicans weren't all to jazzed about Obama, I can't rememebr the major leadership being so sideways bonkers. Hell, they just won local elections and solidified power to grow into what would be a Republican president

You know, the Kavanaugh hearing was less than a year ago.

It was before Smollet, Covington, buzzfeed's Russia story, Mueller's russian hoax, the Democratic Governor of Virginia in blackface almost doing the moonwalk...

And as crazy as that hearing was, with 'indelible in the hippocampus' suddenly being spouted by everyone as if it was as common as saying 'hello', with a clearly unhinged woman telling us Kavanaugh was in charge of roofieing punch bowls and was the doorman for rape gangs.... and people believed her because of a damn hashtag.

I must honestly say, back then, I would have said the dems had lost their minds, willing to throw out due process, etc. But now? It's full on derangement. Like crazy crazy. Like, I don't see a path back to sanity for them.

There's that movement called #walkaway. Good idea. One thing, though, i think someone needs to start #runaway, or maybe #no,seriously, run, getawayasfastasyoucantheyarefuckingcrazy.

What I find strange about this is that Kavanaugh is pretty moderate. He and Roberts are ones that are likely to vote with liberals on any given issue.
He was nominated by Trump. He could declare Gay Marriage Is Now Mandatory and they still wouldn't support him.

I didn't oppose Gorsuch, but Kavanaugh is something else. Strikes me as a massive douchebag, and found it hard to believe his denials, or that he'll be able to keep politics out of his decisions.
So you came out of retirement to own the conservatism right, well at least you'll get cheers from reset? Funny reasoning though, you would take the word of an admitted liar over a respected, vetted, and highly qualified federal judge.

They are going to investigate themselves right out of power. This isn't why people elected them. They're catering to only the loons in the party and ignoring the business of the country. It's a recipe for loss.
