Limbo getting some decent nomination love.
The BAFTA game awards is probably one of the few award shows that actually is respectful of the medium. Great fun to watch last year.

That list makes sense given that publishers/developers need to submit their own games and then a shortlist is culled by *cough* a PAL academy.

I'm looking forward to watching this, Always my favourite of the awards shows due to the respect they give gaming and formality of the show.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Huh, seems like Heavy Rain, Call of Duty, and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood have the most nominations.

Here's to awards for Heavy Rain and AC:B.

lol lets just put BLOPS in every single category we can get away with including artistic achievement, although that one is probably a step too far...nah

It'd be pretty funny if Limbo wins the GAME award. Other than that, the nominations seem pretty spot on.
You can buy Limbo at select GAME stores now (they are trialling selling some XBLA games on cards in some stores)

Just noticed Kinectimals for Technical Innovation - get in!

is this one of those ones where you have to be a member to be nominated and rockstar isn't, as i'm a bit suprised red dead isn't anwhere except the fan one.

Really? I haven't been in a GAME store in years. They pretty much died off over here in Ireland.

Decent noms, I like this game awards the best out of all the others. Last year's was classy and respectful of the industry. Only weird category for me is the Technical Innovation one, with GOW3 missing.

It's really stupid that 99% of video games get shoved into the 'action' category. They can't break the categories down a little more?

Edit: How the hell is Fallout: NV a strategy game?

I have no idea what any of those awards mean other than best gameplay and story. They all seem extremely vague. And I'm not sure I want to understand the story category if BLOPS was nominated.

You'll find a shit load of people on GAF will question if Alan Wake and Heavy Rain are deserved of story nominations as well
Just roll with it

Yeah, like others: expected GOW 3 in Technical Innovation. Nominations are better than I expected.

A bit sad that LBP 2 didn't arrive in time.

Artistic achievement boring as hell is that really the best they could come up with? I fact all of them are boring nominees

Kinectimals a joke one right?

Have you played Kinectimals a lot? Because I feel it deserves the recognition

Why is it that Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and MGS: Peace Walker never got nominated for any best handheld games awards? KH:BBS was one of the better games of the year and, while I didn't play Peace Walker, MGS was the highest rated handheld game of the year by the press. I really don't get it.

The categories seem a little off, but people have said that the show itself is well run, so I'll be sure to check it out.

I was wondering if Bayonetta came out too early for these or something since it didn't show up in the Best Gameplay category, but no, Mass Effect 2 is up there.

Not only do they put God of War 3 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood into the categories for best action game and best gameplay of the year (and I like ACB, but the combat is incredibly shallow), but they have the balls to snuff Bayonetta from the runnings? On top of that, while not everyone may agree with me that Alan Wake has one of the best stories of the generation, they put in Heavy Rain there?

Yeah, these guys are jokes.

For technical innovation? I love to hear why
It uses Kinect way more than any of the other Kinect games that I have tried and shows a few of the possiblities of the system not realsied by other games - not necessarily one thing but that it does them all in one and does them well. It has voice recognition for the animals so they respond by the name you give them and perform the tricks when asked. It uses the MS tags for image recognition of new toys/animals. It also shows off a lot of the different ways to uses the depth sensor in the mini games with the animals. The devs have also coded it really well and can quite happily pick up me at 6'5 or a 2 year year old (something Sports and Adventures suffer with). Plus it has absolutely amazing fur graphics - puts 'real' games to shame :)

I'm sorry but how does CODBLOPS fit with best story and artistic achievement?

No Peace Walker or DQIX for handhelds is equally as stupid.

I don't see Nier nominated for best original music. Fix that shit.
Well it simply isn't the best soundtrack last year at all.
OPINIONS!

I'm not sure about artistic, but the story in BLOPs is in noway worse then anything else on that list. If you don't think to much about it and just take it for what it is, it's solid. It's framed and presented well. It's paced well as well. Look at the competition. ME2? Horribly paced story. Heavy Rain? Incoherent mess that is insults me. BLOPS hardly insults me. Should it win? No, but the hate on it is really annoying. Probably only because it is CoD.
