I hadn't seen the story details of each war story before, lock if older than WW1.

Friends in High Places - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElAIKXIMRuA
The allies are losing the war in the air. Britain struggles to compete with the German aces and the average lifetime of a combat pilot is 17 days. You must face these bleak odds and take to the skies for a noble fight over the western front. Intense dogfights, unexpected encounters, and a story of friendship await you.

Nothing is Written - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCDgK2iN6yU
In the Middle East deserts, Arab tribes rebel against the oppression of the Ottoman Empire. The Empire’s devastating artillery engage rebel forces wielding rifles from horseback. As a Bedouin warrior working alongside the legendary Lawrence of Arabia, you must find a way to take on the technologically superior enemy and destroy a deadly railgun.

Through Mud and Blood - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdq8UCZKvP8
In the autumn of 1918, British forces prepare for a mass assault on the town of Cambrai, France. With tank support, Allied Command believes a breakthrough is a certainty. But the Mark V tank has one major flaw: it is not reliable. Join a dysfunctional tank crew who battle their way behind enemy lines as they learn to work together.

Avanti Savoia - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Guq1ED5Mxa4
Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire are deadlocked among the Alps. Braced by snow-capped mountains, neither side can find a way to dislodge their enemy. Meanwhile, the Italian mountaineer regiment Arditi prepares an unorthodox assault. Don your Arditi armor and head up a mountainside as Italian and Austrian forces clash over a strategic fort.

The Runner - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW-lBZTpFgg
The British Empire intends to open a new front to the war with an unprecedented naval invasion of the Ottoman homeland. The ships gathered for the Gallipoli Landings — the D-Day of World War 1 — carry over half a million men. As an Anzac runner you’ll witness the heat of epic bombardments and a beach landing, as well as covert deliveries of urgent life-or-death messages across the frontline.

The Battle of Verdun is left out, and maybe for the better of it.

Anyway, the teasers look great and that might be the first Battlefield campaing that I´ll acutally play.

Not expecting much from the campaign since learning that all the missions will take place on multiplayer maps.

Always something with DICE singleplayer stuff.
That plus every "war story" being from an Entente (associated) perspective while they laud themselves over "representing diversity and the different, complex points of view in this war".

It's pretty much a glorified string of Battlefront missions.

Or so it seems. Best to keep expectations waaaay down and possibly be pleasantly surprised.

The exact multiplayer maps or what?

Even if it is that, I know that people have been begging DICE for making the campaign much more open akin to the multiplayer. Now that they have done that, let's not make that a problem too, at least not until we've played it.

So nothing from the german side, nor, like in multiplayer, from the french or russian side?
That's really disappointing.

From what I've read: yes, the exact multiplayer maps.

Being more open is great, but I really don't think having an engaging campaign is possible on such a small scale.

I think it's good not to be overhyped for it, but you won't see me fully dismissing the singleplayer stuff until I've actually played it. I fully agree with you there.

EDIT:

Whaaaaaaaat? Source?
Sorry, I thought it was general knowledge. I'll try to find the source.

As far as I could tell the Gallipoli mission wasn't on a mp map. I saw the entire leaked mission.

There's a free French MP map coming in December, but yeah that seems it until we see the DLC plans.

Ouch, I actually had some interest in playing it based on the trailer, but if this is true then fuck it, not touching it.

Those are pretty different things.

I've already played all the maps in the closed alpha. If the single player is the exact same maps it'll really feel tacked on.

Yes, I saw those threads, but this one was more for the story descriptions that were not posted before.

It seems there's more to it.

I am 100% sure that multiple people have stated the campaign fully takes place on multiplayer maps, but I can't find it anymore. I can't find any 'official' reports on it either.

Maybe whoever said it first on GAF was misinformed and the information has spread from there.

I certainly hope it's not true; that would make me way more hyped for it.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow!

You can literally see the single player content in each of those trailers. There is way more going on than just playing on raw multiplayer maps.

Do you not remember the gameplay trailer? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pY3hlQEOc0

Yeah

I have no idea where people got this SP on a MP map thing from.

Maybe someone got confused about shared assets?
That info spread just before the trailers dropped. I remember thinking it was suspect how much they focused on cutscenes instead of actual gameplay, almost to cover up the fact they take place on MP maps.

Also, the first gameplay footage took place on what appeared to be the alpha map.

I've not seen singleplayer gameplay since then; I really hope this turns out to be a BS rumour.

The teaser of the stories seem to imply that they're a bit more than just MP maps used for campaign. Also, this is the first time I hear about this theory.

If you haven't found a source for your claims, why are you continuing this?

All the footage from that trailer (mostly cutscenes, by the way) could easily take place on multiplayer maps. I see nothing in these trailers disputing that.

However, one of the first people to respond to this thread claimed he'd seen an entire mission and didn't think it took place on a multiplayer map.

Because people on GAF have stated it to be so? I didn't start this rumour and I thought many were aware of it.

Only British or American soldiers playable is absolute bullshit and the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. Call Of Duty Remastered it is.

I think the first reply to this thread is rather misinformed, unless there's a source to back it up.
I'm fine with that, actually. Let's just assume I'm wrong and I'm spreading misinformation here.

We'll find out tomorrow anyway.

On Origin Access it states Oct. 13.

What people?
I don't have the time for a thorough search. Again, I didn't pull this out of my ass and if you don't want to believe that, that's fine too. See above.

Those descriptions read like the campaign is pretty short...
Five bite sized campaigns like 45-60 minutes each, hopefully I'm wrong.

Yeah, I wonder if there are any limitations to the campaign for the 10 hours trial.
There's a limited number of multiplayer maps and 'a couple of singleplayer missions' to try on EA Access until everything fully unlocks on the 18th.

This trial is limited and will include ten hours of game time across five maps including St. Quentin Scar, Amiens, Sinai Desert, Fao Fortress and Suez in four modes – Conquest, Rush, Operations and Domination. You also get two single player campaign missions in for the bargain.

Galipoli is the one I am most interested in. I hope they go into a little detail on how the ANZAC's exited the campaign as it was simply amazing.

It's a little sad that the average Australian has no idea wtf actually happened at Galipoli and the story behind it, with the way we celebrate it you would think we went there and totally kicked ass. Instead the opposite happened.

Lots of MP/SP games have MP maps that look like SP locations and vice versa. Both CoD and Battlefield have done this before. The idea that the SP takes place on the exact MP maps is just a rumour based on trailers that show as much gameplay as the trailers for every other SP portion of an MP shooter.

Because people on GAF have stated it? I didn't start this rumour and I thought many were aware of it.
Say its a rumour in your first post if you want people to see it as a rumour. You were posting it as if it were fact so I can see why some people saw it as such.

I've explained shortly after that I thought I was stating factual information. If I was aware it was just a rumour, I definitely would have said so.

Again, sorry for spreading what appears to be false information.

Arab soldiers are playable as well as Turks. If I read correctly.

A campaign from the POV of Germans? I don't see EA greenlighting that one.
Why? This isn't Nazi Germany we are talking about.

There was no clear-cut "good/bad" guys.

Hell the Italians switched sides when they figured they'd get more lands by fighting for the Allies.

Then they turned around and switched sides yet again in WW2.

If you don't have a definite source then it's always just a rumour. Some people on GAF are not the developers of the game or representatives of EA.
