Is there any data on PS5/Xbox Series X sales in Europe so far? Will be important in terms of available servers 1-2 years in the future. Trailer itself - fucking great.

There are still Battlefield 4 servers up and running.
I doubt you have too much to worry about in terms of server availability....esp in Europe.
MEA yeah its gonna be rough after year one till the game hits EA Play.

And if they include crossplay servers are going to be the least of your worries.

Still cautiously optimistic though. That said I'm probably not going to pick it up at launch considering the last few Battlefield games have been so lacklustre, especially on day 1 what with their lack of content and bug ridden states.

It looked actually pretty good if you ask me, much less chaotic then Halo's trailer, I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of vehicles as well.

Is that a game screenshot? Because it looks nothing like the trailer. And that is what I generally expect from next gen frostbite.

I’m so confused how anyone can be claiming the trailer looks good, much less amazing.

Game will hit EAPlay within 6 months of release. I wouldn't worry about player counts too much.

Feels and looks like old school BF games I love it. Still not happy it's 70 (or 120 for the one ed) but it is what is. Game looks fun.

Did you watch the 1080p or the 4k trailer? Both are heavily compressed, but the 1080p is particularly bad. No shocker there. Let's wait for a high bitrate 4k version.

yeah im just happy that BF is back. It looks great, not the best looking but for the scale it looks really good. I just hope the destruction is in because we havent seen shit regarding that.

lol I'm so cynical these days that when I clicked the gameplay trailer video I was actually surprised to see gameplay. I expected CG.

I cant wait to play this.

Question: Is it me or does the gameplay video look a bit ''janky'' and the animations when he's on the crane (including running) seem a bit weird/off? Also when they switch to the Antarctica map, starting at 2:26 it looks a lot better and smoother.

Pre-alpha? The game comes out in like in 4 months. The game is near enough finished. What you see is what you're going to set. It's all marketing speak bullshit.

Terms like "pre-alpha" and "beta footage" have lost all meaning, not in the least thanks to Battlefield itself touting "pre-alpha" disclaimers on their trailers a mere months before release for YEARS now.

The builds are old.
This isnt a build from last week.
If youve been in any of the BF ALpha or Betas check the gamefiles after update and you can tell how old a a build is approx.

This gameplay isnt from the latest version of the game so yes there is plenty of "time" to improve on what was shown right now.

It will have been old footage based on the numbers of players required and lack of influencers knowing about it/being invited. I'm going to guess this was from about December time or just before. The alpha is July 22nd, this was pre-alpha. Generally they will have lower quality assets, audio etc. to keep filesizes down as well.

Having said that we need to also bear in mind that this does need to run on PS4/X1X as well so it's unlikely to be a massive jump.

The Battlefield 2042 alpha takes place in July, but it isn’t really an alpha — not in the usual sense, at least.

A handful of the series’ “veteran players” will receive email invitations from DICE to take part on a closed test scenario with a grey box build of the game.

Not sure, watched a whole bunch including Jackfrags shilling the visuals like a proper shill. Ooo, look at those flares, checkout the wheels on that tank. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to watch him after such a dishonest promotion.

Well it looks better than warzone, thats 128 players+

I'll be honest tho, its not what I expected from a generation leap

The destruction is almost non existent in the trailers so far

I wanna see it in a live game, and how much destruction there actually is, since they've been saying its an all new system

It's a cross-gen title, so I wouldn't expect much more than in BF4. The visuals will improve on next-gen systems and PC, but at its core the game still has to run on PS4/XB1 and their Jaguar CPU.

Again, this isnt me dreaming of better destruction, this is ea and dice saying the destruction is better than previous games

It looks like a bizarre dream/nightmare videogame. A beautiful mess that will probably suck. I'm oddly intrigued.

Bfv was bad enough seeing people, I hope player models have some decent highlighting and silhouetting this time, because with 128 players is already gonna be chaos

Gameplay looks decent. I'll get the standard edition day 1. No campaign or battle royale so I prob won't bother with any season passes. No Co op like in bf3 either. If they'd nailed all that I'd prob have bought the €100 edition.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Very few games do big warfare like Battlefield, I think there’s been big games but Battlefield’s maps carries a lot of fun traffic.

Also "Beta" is a way shorter timeframe than most people assume.
Beta phase means feature-complete and they are only fixing open bugs.

It might look close to that with Raytracing on PC. Pretty sure the gameplay trailer was captured on an xbox considering it was at the xbox conference. I would not expect the new consoles to do both 128 players and high quality raytracing all at 60fps. The sad reality is something has to give.

I am still hyped for this game but this trailer wasn't that great. Too much focus on vehicles, and not enough on the gunplay. Most players will spend the majority of their time with a gun in there hands, so how about show that DICE? This trailer felt like a "hey guess what all that stuff you saw in the cinematic trailer is actually in the game!", kind of thing. Which was sorta lame.

Too short, too light on gunplay, and too much spectacle. How hard would it have been to have a group of people play the game for 8 minutes and switch between them? THAT would have been a perfect trailer.

The most tragic thing about battlefield 2042 is that it is being held back by the PS4/XBO. Have some fucking balls EA and make it Next Gen and PC exclusive, it would sell for years!

It will never look like that bullshot I posted. And on the one hand I'm glad because the visibility in that image is terrible lol.

That said I'm not a graphicswhore and I think the game looks fine. I won't be able to get a new PC any time soon either so I'm just hoping I can run the game at decent settings as is.

Trailer looks okay but still couldn't beat my all time favorite Battlefield trailer, from 2011.

The music has set an amazing tone and became an instant classic, but as soon as you hit the mute buttons it turns out the trailer shows... absolutely fucking nothing, and is one of the worst trailers of all times when it comes to showing off the gameplay.

The newest reveal maybe doesn't give you same chiils and adrenaline rush, but shits all over that BF3 trailer, it has a lot of an actual action in it, instead of 1-2s clips of people just walking/driving/flying and sightseeing the surroundings.

People in this thread thinking you are going to get Horizon 2 graphics where only the main character and a 4-5 enemies are on sceen at a time compared to battlefield 2042 that has to stay performant with up to 128 players + vehicles + destruction on a server/map.

If you want to have a game like BF2042 you have to make certain graphical sacrifices so that it doesn't just chug along at 10fps a second. You "Next gen" obsessed graphics whores are quite something. And to even suggest that this game looks in any way bad or like "BF4" then you are just lying.

Someone has a memory problem.
Before that BF3 trailer - Battlefield was stuck in console land with the Bad Company games for years. Very low 24-32 power counts and jets were absent for years from the series. The BF3 trailer brought the BF2 vibe back with full force - and focused 100% on the returning jets and big battles but now on Frostbite. That BF3 trailer is still a major landmark of the franchise.

That said I agree with your 2042 trailer assement - the new one delivered. Im hyped.

People are going to hate but whatever...

If the beta is good I'm buying the deluxe edition digitally. Going live at midnight release! I put years into BF4/3/2 and I expect this to be no different.

And? None of what you say changes the fact there was no action shown in that reveal BF3 gameplay, it's like running on empty corridors in Doom without killing a single demon with heavy-metal in the background.

And that's because BC games sacrificed player count but in favor of a lot more vehicles than BF3 and any later BF for the matter, mounted weapons all over the map, which balanced the entire infantry vs vehicle combat, which again, something BF struggles with ever since, much better designed map layouts, and fully destructible environments.

BC had tons of "BF moments" vids because that's how the game truly was, that's what was going on the whole time, hence was so easy to capture, unlike those forced, staged, carefully directed clips we get now. People love Metro from BF3 because that constand pushing back and forth for that damn tunnel was so intense, so action packed, this is the only map where you actually got to see all those 64 people and felt you are indeed taking part in a huge fight, but that map is an exception of the rule, the rest of the maps were much more open, more scattered, therefore boring, and the maps just kept only getting bigger and bigger, more open in later installments, and that's why the franchise started to die, because it was boring as fuck to walk around.

And no, jets didn't add anything to the game other than taking away 4 people from already boring battleground, and helis as well since they were too busy avoiding jets and homing missles, they were literally non-existent compared to BC. Which all left the battlefield with nothing but a lot of infantry searching for themselves (due to shitty spotting system rather than more modern solution) and just a few tanks every now and then, it became basically a BR without the shrinking boarder, nothing but walking around with just a few vehicles every now and then, and again, not as meaningful as in BC with all the destruction being taken away.

Long story short, there are many many reasons why so many people consider BC to be the best entrance in BF series, and would love to see BC3 more than anything else, those 64 players look nice on paper but don't translate to any better gameplay experience, rather the opposite. And now there will be 128 players and maps even larger than ever, and the only question is what are the odds it won't be another MAG which was the worst 10vs10 shooter ever, because you never ever saw all those 256 players, not even half, not even a quarter, just a tiny fraction because how large the maps were.

You use large maps the players are scattered around, you use a lot of players on small maps you end up with clusterfuck like Res2, so it's all about finding the right balance, more isn't always better. Maybe, somehow, mogically, DICE have figured out how to provide a smooth, constant flow of intense action in the upcoming game, but that's yet to be proven, their (staged) trailers look cool, build hype, sell the game, but that doesn't matter if the game isn't actually fun to play and people leave after a month or two.

Skimmed through this.. Did they seriously do an HOUR LONG interview with zero new gameplay?

I imagine there's nda to ea access thingy

They did say a few things that I was happy about, vehicles are now physics based, this is awesome to hear, so many bf moments from that

And we've not seen the destruction yet, did they the twister will destroy the city, and its random, so that makes the city physical destruction right.....? Since it would all need to be dymanic, if the twister is random

I wish they talked more about the progression system in the interview. From the short amount they said it seems like we'll just get points or currency to unlock weapons at any time and maybe it won't be tied to weapon category.

I'm guessing a lot more gameplay will be shown at EA Play.

Its a shared system over the guns, so I'd imagine there's specialist progression, weapon progression and maybe a overall rank

Its basically CoD, even down to specialist tbh

Which is fine, it works

It's a very good interview tho, natural, not scripted, people throwing anecdotes and random moments from their internal gameplays left and right, it does bring a lot of hope for BF being fun once again.
