Battlefield 5 physical sales down more than half on Battlefield 1

ouch, from a long time battlefield fan, unfortunately I don't think I will ever pick this up. Had my fill of BF1 and this looks like a total reskin, I have heard it is different. Who knows may pick up when it is cheaper but zero interest right now.

Looking forward to a sub-$30 digital version in a few months after the new content is added and bugs patched out. I think I paid $20 for BF with the DLC and it was a good deal.

Really didn't look remotely interesting from a distance. I'm sure it's fun, but why wouldn't I just keep playing BF1 if that's also fun and almost the same game?

Wonder what the digital breakdown is. Will say that the weapons handle sooo much better in this than BF1. Wish they could take the gameplay from this and apply it to BF1.

Hopefully this means the game will fall in price like battlefront 2 did.

I wouldn't mind the game as I love playing BF1 from time to time, but I'm in no rush and so it seems are other people!

I feel sad for the devs who tried their hardest to make a good game, but I'm glad the bad decisions those in charge took are getting the appropriate response.

I'm curious to see what EA will do next. Both of their games that got rid of season passes (Battlefront II and Battlefield V) kind of flopped (maybe it's a bit too early to tell for BFV), despite the promise of free content updates.

Battlefront II still sold millions. They didn't make nearly as much as they thought they would, but I am pretty sure the game did well. I think BFV is going to be similar. It won't reach their goals, but in the end it'll turn a profit.

The game did well but do not forget the all so recent "failure" that was Black Ops 4 that missed 50 million of its expected revenue for launch that sent everyone into panic mode.

I am not sure, either way, whether physical sales being down is a great metric for overall sales in November 2018. My guess is yes when compared to a 2016 game because by 2016 lots of people were already buying digital. But if someone showed me consistent reductions in physical being offset by equal increases in digital over the last 2 years, I would not be shocked.

That all said, I think sales are probably way, way down. As of this morning at least, I do not recall seeing any articles claiming great sales or any public statements from EA about setting any sort of records. With the gaming press we currently have, and the backlash this game got from ordinary people over the last 6 months (a/k/a from the wrong thinkers), I would expect such news to be front and center if the game was doing well.

Once again, it shows that the web's degenerate white knights are a meaningless loud minority who don't even buy the games that target them

How are the maps?

Very good--there's not any that I hate (and that says a lot since typically there's one or two in each BF that I don't like). I typically get every BF game day one and I had reservations about this one after playing the beta but the EA Access trial put me at ease. That plus the guys I typically play online with said they were going to get it. I do hope that some of the more well-known locales make it into this game because with the gameplay and graphics tech they would look amazing.

EA need to get rid of the sjw garbage group on Bioware and DICE and their other studios

Nobody asked for ninja kitana lady in a World War II game or any other hidden agenda in videogame

Pity. I'm loving the game despite its problems.

Couldn't give two shits about the historical accuracy bull that the neckbeards were whining about (if people didn't like females in WWII, they simply wouldn't play them in-game 🤷‍♀️). My bigger concern is that the game launched in an unfinished state. There's not nearly enough content here and only two factions? Get ourra here, DICE.

Still, I've played it every day since release and I'm loving it.

Game has dropped in price to 42$ at BB and 30$ at Target.

They really botched this and deserve what they got.

First impressions are a hell of a drug.

Doubling down just made things worse for them. But overall being absolutely blind and deaf to the fans has been EA's MO this year I suppose, I mean remember their E3 conference?

It also doesn't help that bf1 is still getting a ton of support with free maps and even battlefront 2 just came out with geonosis and new heroes. So Dice kinda played themselves. As well as competition since this year we got one of the best cods in ages

Not surprised. I've seen almost no marketing on it.

I know some people will want to blame an SJW agenda.
I've seen plenty of ads for it. As for the agenda, well, they did trumpet an agenda and tell people who disagreed not to buy it. And outrage from their fans ensued. So if the sales are low, trying to blame it on anything else without solid proof of unrelated fault would seem to be ignoring the obvious.

The same devs that banned the term "white males" in the games code? I don't feel bad for the devs. All of this is on them reading the market wrong and then attacking the fans for not "being educated enough" to appreciate their revisionist history.

As a BF player for over 10 years, this is a good game most consider BF1 to be "arcadey" and noob friendly. This one is harder and gone back to the better TTK which most BF1 loves hate and most BF3 and BF4 lovers like.

My problem with the game is the removal of features such as weapon attachments. However, BF1 launched when COD infinite war launched so there was no competition because COD was hated by most players and was the most downvoted game trailer at the time causing many to jump over to BF1. This time around you've had Black ops the most loved of the series Red Dead and Assassins creed drop all around the same time, of course, it's going to affect it

Does the comments EA made effect it about 2% not even. The whole we're not buying it stopped after the two beta's and most started pre-ordering. I play with one of the biggest platoons in BF and all of them bought it including the other platoons we compete against. Even though most said fuck EA they still bought it.

I made a thread about day one buyers and most of you said Hype always makes you buy and that's happened with the regular BF players

The code monkeys and artists don't have a say in those matters. It's management that decides on those things.

Not surprised, been saying this in the other threads. This BF was going to bomb. The initial reveal killed this game over stupidity.

Its a shame because after a couple of days with the game its really good. Grand Operations is growing on me and with a few tweaks(which they are already starting on the Dec 4th patch) the mode will get better.

But what I have mentioned before the total package is lacking content. BF1 got slack for its lack of content, and BFV has even less. Holding back Rush/BR/Horde mode hurts the overall package. And dropping a great mode like operations also hurts.

Anyone not playing this game because of SJW's or the initial reveal or women soldiers should just rethink their position. If you want a fun shooter with 64 player game modes you can't go wrong with BF.

It's $30 at Target now, ouch. Still going to wait.

Yeah, it really feels like half a game at the moment.

Otherwise I really enjoy it. Still nowhere near Bad Company 2, but I like it more than BF1 so far.

This is how I feel. DICE cut to much from the game, probably because of this live service drip feed they needed for the next 6 months due to no premium pass.

And biggest mistake was taking out Operations mode. Grand Operations is growing on me, but its not as epic as Operations. Breakthrough is a pale imitation of Operations mode.

But even with the delay it feels like total early access game. Get out of here with having to wait 3 months for Rush mode, another month to customize tanks, and 6 months for BR while COD/Fortnite/PUBG are eating DICE's lunch with Battle Royal modes.

The game is a ton of fun, but it won't be a complete product for another 6 months or more.

EA is on my black list. I'm boycotting their games.

who cares??

if you don't like it..

you don't have to buy it.

shit wait oh shit

If it goes on sale on PC I might give it a shot. I liked BF4 a lot, and apparently its more tuned like that game than BF1. At least from what I'm reading so far.

I wonder what Digital sales look like.
Anyway, hopefully it's a mild bomb. Good enough to have people playing but bad enough that it's $30 or less in a couple of month, I'd buy for $30 or less

This is great. The notion that people in this industry can be as shitty as they want as long as it's left leaning needs to die. That exec tried to judo valid criticisms into some bigoted attack and it failed miserably.

Go Woke, go Broke.
Wake me up when BF 1942 HD comes out.

Well, at least me and 5 of my friends skipped the game for the agenda, I'm pretty sure it had a role in the situation

I think it's a lot of fun. I play it almost daily, but mine is digital. I hope, if nothing else, that it continues to be supported until the next iteration.
