That looks very wrong for WWI what is on his right hip. I would be more excited if it is a steampunk setting as others have said like bioshock which I have to say is something I never anticipated but looking at the image could be intriguing.

WW1 would be a crap setting. Does anybody really want a a game with just bolt action rifles and stationary maxim guns? That sounds horrible unless all you take in these games is a sniper. WW1 combat went the way it did for a reason ; the weapons were garbage so everybody trenched taking potshots till somebody( who I guarantee was nowhere near the frontline) decided it was time for the boys to go over the top and get killed. There was poor ability to bring in game changers such as tanks or airforce support to push the enemy hence people stayed in trenches or got slaughtered.

Its 6 Episodes, not missions.

I don't really care if it is 6 mission or 6 episodes. If they are 6 really good 30 minute missions then I will gladly take those over some 20 padded boring missions. Quality over quantity, always!

Also "AVANTI SAVOIA!" makes this an instant buy for me.

what is up with all these expectations for amazing single player content?

Because now EA has something to work with when they are doing a historical campaign. The potential here is incredible. Especially when it comes to the Italian front.

Difference is one is an honest mistake the other is insulting and discourteous

The person you quoted definitely had an intense reaction to that tweet, but I agree with them in that it was a very unprofessional tweet to make.

Anyways, I wasn't looking forward to BF5, but with the WWI setting and that DLC...I think I'm on board!

I just had to google the term "M$" I didn't recognize it and had no clue it was a term used against them.

I guess I learned something today. If that's why he used it then yeah I agree, not professional.

Not really a fan of WW1 setting, even in a parallel universe setting. But it's Battlefield...any other franchise I would have crossed it off the list already and forgotten it.

I guess I'll just wait a few more hours for the reveal, and the inevitable announcement of a $50 season pass to make my final decision. I just cannot support that model any more.

Ugh. The thought of the overly juingostic, bombastic war porn of Battlefield in such a tragic setting as the First World War makes my stomach turn.

I'm not against the idea of a WW1 game, one that accurately showed the horror, misery and utter tragic waste of life that the conflict was, that's fine. Valiant Hearts was excellent for example, but one of the dudebro marketed action focused BattleCODS?

Ugh.

Is there are war that isn't full of horror, misery, and tragic waste of human life?

I don't think WWI has a monopoly on that stuff...

Something even remotely interesting/creative that isn't the same damn cover we've seen since BF3. Surely the human mind is capable of such things? Or have I overestimated us all?
Yeah they should be more creative, like they were with Bad Company 2!

usually these campaigns last 4-6 hours if you're not rushing through them on Easy mode. that's fine with me.

God damnit.... WWI, seriously?

Call me crazy, but trench warfare with bolt action rifles doesn't sound exciting to me.

If they can somehow pull this off and still make the game exciting I'll be impressed but my hype for the reveal has definitely been been deflated.

It's their branding. I could see that cover without the title and instantly know what it is.

Exactly. Video games glorify violence. They are all terrible and horrible. WW1 is no different. If the Harlem Hellfighters are actually included, then good for them for bringing to light an incredible unit that is not well known.

oh, wow. Had no idea they used clubs

When the armies finally broke through and got to the trenches of the opposing side there was a lot of close quarters fighting. Bayonets kind of sucked because they broke a lot, especially if you stabbed someone in the rib cage and try to pull it out. So soldiers started to use more blunt type weapons.

So the DLC contains themed items instead of maps.

I wonder if they're going to do the microtransaction supported online route instead of a season pass.

Can't say I'm a little disappointed that it probably isn't that attractive sequel to BF2142, but if they go alternative WW1 with weird tech etc. I am all up for it. Heck, go super weird tech and I am really sold:

Just don't make it pure WW1 cause the tanks would kinda suck to play.

Yup. I want this or BF can fuck of until BF6. I'll continue to play BF4 or the other alternatives. I personally cant see a pure WWI game keeping most players attention for the amount of time the previous BF's have. Loads will still be playing BF4 instead of a WWI BF that's for sure.
