Visceral has a lot of work ahead of them to convince people to be interested in this thanks to BF4. I hope it turns out well but I'll be waiting longer than usual this time around.

So THIS is the game Visceral's A Team was working on while their B Team was making Dead Space 3?

Man, I was really hoping for something less generic.

I'm conflicted whether or not to be hyped for this or not after BF4.

Well, it's not DICE, and I'm guessing it has to be close to done, unless EA really thinks they need to get another Battlefield game out this year.

But yeah, I'm definitely waiting and seeing on this one.

love on your sleeve
Really loved the idea of a police themed Battlefield when I first heard it and Visceral gives me more confidence than DICE would. Hopefully, this isn't a letdown.

BATTLEFIELD HARDLINE COMING THIS FALL

On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline. The game launches this fall and it’s a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.

Several years ago, I was at an internal EA meeting in Barcelona with creative leaders from across the company. It was there I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games – I’ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, which I was working on at the time. We started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. It was then that this project that became Battlefield Hardline was born.

There’s been a lot of buzz today about Battlefield Hardline – we’re getting ready for E3 and fans found some details on our website about what we’re working on for the show. We’ve been reading all of your comments and we’re excited to be going into more detail soon on the ways we’re adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer and more about how we’re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player.

I hope you’ll join us for the official world premiere on June 9 at Noon PDT, and sign up for updates on the new game at our web site www.battlefield.com/hardline.

Can you imagine a bank robbery mode? The robbers get the money and hop in a car to get to the extraction point. The cops lay down spike strips where they think the robbers are going and then send pursuit units. They have a high speed firefight. There's one last mad dash on foot to make it to their extraction point and then a huge gun battle while they load up the goods and speed off.

Hnnnnnnggggg. Give it to me, Visceral, pls.

Heist was one of the leaked modes.

Blood Money is the other one that sounds like a crime mode.

TDM and Turf War (small/large) were also there, though I'm assuming Turf War is Conquest.

Ahh the poor BF people who now pay 60 dollars every season it seems. Have fun. I'll pick it up as usual when it's 5 bucks. Looks fun though.

there's no reason for bad company to exist now that battlefield is big on consoles. I honestly don't get why they don't just mash up bad company single player in the main entries and just have bf3/4 multiplayer.

Because Bad Company is more than the singleplayer.

Compare BC2 to BF3.

So I have to ask, how are you guys so good at keeping secrets?

I know Nintendo and old school Apple have a reputation for extreme secrecy, but you guys take it to the next level.

Lol... I think we have work to do on keeping secrets. It's pretty difficult to keep anything secret these days, especially with detective Nirolak on the case.

Well... For me, The order gone from my 2014 buy lists, and add this for 2014.

Good. Let's see how this will blow me up.

Maybe I'm biased for their choice because CS is my favorite shooter but II like the theme they chose. Moving away from the military context opens the door for interesting modes, like hostage rescue, heist, manhunt, escort missions, etc.

Just make sure its polished and working properly and don't try to be CoD. BF has a very solid foundation when it comes to multiplayer and can stand on its own, it doesn't need to ape CoD.

BF single player campaigns have being piss-poor, Visceral has the potential to do much better in this area.

Excited as fuck. Bring me the "in a war" feeling Battlefield has to the urban battlefield. I'm curious if they'll have smaller maps or if heists will involve this big getaway with helicopters and cars. It'll be interesting to see if they lower the destructibility any.

BF4 ruined a lot of goodwill. Still interested in what they've got to show, since this entry in the Battlefield franchise will move away from 'military' to 'police'.

If Dice and EA listened to their fans, where do they think this game ranks on their list of Battlefield games? CRAPOLA this is

it's always funny when a new game is announced with gameplay/story elements seen before and people shout "ripoff" lol. payday did not invent cops vs robbers, or heist games, everyones so quick to give something a label. just wait to see more of the game, if it's for you cool, if it's not, that's cool too.

hopefully the multiplayer maps in this game have some very cool locations. would love to see some good urban settings along with some more out there locations and scenarios.

Battlefield is going annual? Looks like I'm going to stop playing it.

Where have you been? It's been Annual since BC2.

BC2->Vietnam next year->BF3 next year->DLC packs for 3 next year/4 in development->4 launched shortly after 3's DLC support ends->4's DLC support/Hardline developed->Hardline...

When it's all said and done, I still ended up having a lot of fun with BF4, even with lingering issues, but it completely turned my off to the idea of getting in day one on a major MP game. Launch and early months were well beyond acceptable.

I'm excited to see what Visceral does with the campaign.

I was actually thinking Battlefront in September so it can benefit from a holiday boost when the movies come out.

It was originally targeted for Summer 2015 so it should be further along than Battlefield 5.

Oh, I see! Expecting quite the debut at E3 then.

So... BF4 comes out in 2013, EA says they aren't turning it into an anual series, and now a new Battlefield is coming out in 2014.

Cool. I'm guess I'm done with BF. Now if everyone could just get back to playing BC2 so that I don't constantly match into 3/24 player games.

Both Battlefield and Call of Duty look like they're doing some interesting stuff this year. Might go with Advanced Warfare, just because BF4 was so shit.

I just noticed how 2 studios that have worked on Dead Space before will now be going head to head with Battlefield and Call of Duty this Fall.
