I don't believe "whamen" played a significant role for BF5 sales. It's more like:

1. Stupid reveal trailer that looks nothing like the actual game.
2. Looks a lot like BF1 on the surface, and that game had a lukewarm reception.
3. No iconic battles.
4. The game needed more time in the oven.
That is so correct. Out of my friends I am the only one who even noticed this bullshit about the woman. And I didn't care because I'm a grown man. It's a small sample size but cmon, how many people are reading forums and use Twitter for video games??? It's a very little minority in the gaming market. I think your reasons are spot on. I was hyped for bf1, saw the automatic weapons and noped out. Then a bf in ww2 again, yay! But the trailer turned me off. My friends and I got it in the sale and we are having a blast! It's really buggy but very fun :D

Those aren’t as bad as I thought considering everyone said no one bought it.

It's literally half of the previous entry, it's below hardline which isn't even a main entry for the series, having your sales drop to 50% is horrible by any metric and I can't see EA executives being very pleased.

Yeah that’s very true and I’m sure they are not happy about it, but I was surprised it sold as many as it did, that’s all.

Wow, people are so desperate for new reasons to shit on BFV that they will actually use VG Chartz numbers.

Any other time the mere mention of VG Chartz would be met with heavy ridicule and calls for bans.

My, how times have changed.
Yeah...in reality it's probably even lower.

That's what I find funny about BFV fans bashing vgchartz here. They have a bad reputation of aiming to high. 😂

Other than "stop making them" which is never going to happen, what do you think should be done with Call of Duty to make it not generic, and make it a game you'd want to play?

Maybe not Call of Duty specifically, but I would suggest a singleplayer campaign to go along with the multiplayer in a Vietnam setting similar to Vietcong with inspiration from Platoon and Full Metal Jacket.

I thought this was a PC mainly franchise but it represents only 3% of the total sales, anyway I'm getting it when it drops below 10€

So you'll be playing next month.

Funny what happens when you engineer a toxic narrative against your own fanbase so you can virtue signal like an hypocrite on social medias.

BF1 had online sales too, and considering its reception was superior, it was probably well over half anyway. They lost 50% of the sales.
Wait a little and you'll figure it out, because in January of 2017 they forecasted 15m for BF1 and it sold 20m. If this game makes it to 10m it's an absolute miracle.

BF1 did 20 million? oh wow I didn't know it did so well.

? Huh oh no lol

Thats a lie. BFV murders BF1 in terms of visuals. DICE are wizards at that junk lol. I can confirm that BFV very much looks way better then BF1 and plays way better too.

That is highly subjective. Graphical fidelity is only a part of visuals, the other is the aesthetic and atmosphere - which BFV absolutely fails to get even partially right. As for gameplay, again - subjective. Many of the changes are for the worse, IMO.

Loved BF3, dunno why. Game was great

BF4 felt like a expansion that fixed most of the problem BF3 had sadly didn't feel remotely like a full new game., also insane expensive one at that. there crappy premium they introduced through BF3 with there paid map packs honestly killed the franchise.

BF1 was a joke entirely, nobody cared for it. Killed also there hardcore streamer market off through absolute terrible air department.

BF5, yea totally train wreck on PR.

I thought this was a PC mainly franchise but it represents only 3% of the total sales, anyway I'm getting it when it drops below 10€

Most likely still is, however physical isn't much of a metric when it comes for PC. Didn't even know they still made PC physical versions for this game to start with.

There was so much hype for Battlefield 5, I guess that was mostly NV and RTX, although that first trailer looked amazing tbh. Yet, everyone thought COD would suffer because of the lack of a campaign....Yet Cod sold like a freight train on speed....

Have this game on my ps4 pro. I just don't like battlefield games on console. There is so much shit going on and so many enemies mouse and keyboard and increased perception at a desk and monitor seems required.

Never had problems finding any full game mode on Xbox, servers get populated quick even in between tides of war rounds. BR mode and permanent price drop should give it the jolt it needs. As a BF player since BF2 Im enjoying it, but it needs tons of polish and updates.

Glad to see it flop after the political shenanigans Dice pulled. I bought it at launch. The game is great as a game. Hopefully big gaming companies will start to realize SJWs don't buy games.

Yeah. People cared so little about it it's the best selling Battlefield by far.

I have seen the number 25 million mentioned by EA themselves.

Really? I'm not saying you are lying or anything, simply that I never heard of that figure until now. I liked BF1, but I didn't love BF1 lol, I only didn't care for the TTK, but it was pretty much base Battlefield which is always a day 1 for me.

"everyone thought COD would suffer because of the lack of a campaign" Maybe. A lot of us also knew that most are not really buying COD for SP (Evident by those sales)

I think that the game itself isn't really bad at all. I really like it. It has more of a focus than what Battlefield 1 had and I don't really think that bullet drop issue ended up a big deal. They just need to work on the weapon balancing a bit more and I think that they have something on their hands.

The big reason why I got it was because it was 29.99 and I would like to try out their Battle-Royal from day one when it comes out. I think that Blackout mode in COD in a little boring if you are soloing and I want to see what DICE do.

Why am I not surprised that EDMIX completely ignores what I stated. Not even sure why I bother anymore.

Funny that threads with fake numbers get over 100 posts but threads with actual real numbers get one or two lol

What have to discuss about made up numbers?

Checked it out, and not entirely true, from EA Q3 2018 report:
  • Battlefield™ 1 now has more than 25 million unique players life to date.
Not sales numbers per se, but I wouldn't expect it to be too far off. I guess only multiple profiles on same console and share playing accounts for a portion of these, but probably not a huge number? Anyway, with another year passed I don't find it totally unreasonable unless someone has more reliable numbers?

Either way, it's by far the best selling BF.

Then post the real numbers. Clearly you have them, otherwise you wouldn't continue to whine about it.

Post. The. Real. Numbers.

You keep saying that the numbers are bullshit, so if they are bullshit that means you clearly have the "real" numbers. Post them, prove the numbers wrong and the conversation can continue with those numbers (assuming you have viable sources).

Otherwise, stop whining.

he has a point, unless you have some other numbers why not just not comment at all.

while vgchartz numbers are not reliable... there is plenty of details about BFV sales from reputable sources that support the ball-parked numbers.

oh wow, thats pretty wild. I didn't know BF1 did so well. Its my least liked of the major BF's too. I wonder if it was that WWI really is that rare in terms of game themes or something lol

I'm hoping for Vietnam next, would be ok with modern too. BFV is so fun, I'd be ok with them focusing on those same concepts, just in a different setting and its a day 1 for me anytime.

Man... you're really losing.
Losing?

A there with actual no data only guesstimates get 3 pages of discussion while any thread with actual data get two post.

It is really odd and shows how screwed SalesGAF actually... the worst? People here seems to believe in these data lol.

But hey looks like spread false data makes them better than not having data... which type of thinking is that?

There is tons of exemple the data from there is clearly off by big margins for more or less... examples these that you can compare with actual data.

The big issue here is that some believe you can use guestimation like real data when you don’t have real data... and plot twist asking real data that proves the guesstimations are wrong lol.

You want a example? That is pretty easy... the actual sales of BFV in UK in November was 101k at retail.

Can you check for me how much VGC has for the same period?

There's been a bunch of articles saying sales were down to about half of batlefield 1

https://www.pcgamesn.com/battlefield-5/battlefield-5-sales

So even if the absolute values are incorrect they seem to be about right % wise. Obviously we don't have official numbers, but even EA/DICE have mentioned poor sales. But you're right VGcharts is usually innacurate, the thread could be made without it and still make sense.
