In online quick matches, you can wager halos, the in-game currency that youearn by defeating enemies. You receive a large sum back if you can proveyou’re a better fighter than your partner. Halos can then be traded in a story mode shop to unlock new techniques, buy accessories and pick up alternate weapon variations.

THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS is what Nintendo needs to do for their first party games! I still find it pretty bonkers how people don't push for online co-op and multiplayer in Nintendo games. So many games could've benefited greatly from this.

They mentioned that there was co-op at E3 last year but never really went into detail.

Really excited to see more of this mode. I hope they show it off soon.

Not story mode I guess.

PG* games are segmented in levels/sections. You'll play that with someone. Probably in the order you want so yes basically you should be able to co-op from the game's beginning to its end. But I doubt cutscenes and story beats will be rewritten fo co-op. It's similar to W101 if you want to look for more infos on how it's done. You play the levels with friends and you win by being the best scorer.
