While she is laughably wrong there, now is her time to get up to speed on the facts.

Who exactly is Ben Shapiro and why is it a big deal if she doesn't debate him?
He is a nobody. Just another edgy conservative social media guy. And it's not a big deal. People just wanna pretend it is because they hate her and what she represents and supports. She is so far above him at this point and she owes him nothing. He only challenged her to a debate because she is currently a hot topic of conversation. He just wanted to insert himself into the spotlight that is on her and her comparison to catcalling is a reference to that fact.

Cat calling? C'mon, dude. That's not remotely cat calling. Just because some socialist called it cat calling doesn't make it true. If he said something like "Getcha fine bubble butt over here and debate me", that would be cat calling. Also, she asked to be debated:

And Shapiro isn't a nobody that's just a social media guy. He's an author, head guy of Daily Wire, political talking head that's appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox and several other programs. So you're absolutely incorrect in both regards, and probably more if you actually think Ocasio is a good choice for the Democratic party. She believes in a broken political system that has a history of never working.

And wasn't Ocasio-Cortez pushing around DSA ideas of "no borders" and "no profit"? >.>

If she just said no . No one would have cared at all. But her accusations were utterly stupid. And again for a nobody who has to go ay 500 k for security so he can hold a panel people like you seem to really hate him.

It's asinine to not have borders. It's right up there with stupid ideas that "illegals should vote". If you honestly are a left wing person that believes this, then you shouldn't have a problem with Putin boating over a million people to vote in our elections either.

She's "so far above him" in what way? She's an intellectual lightweight compared to him, taking ideology out of it. The guy narrating the video was kind of brutal to listen to, but the video posted upthread exposes her as kind of a moron, unfortunately. If not a moron, at the very least woefully unprepared for all those softball interviews.

She is going to be a member of Congress. Meanwhile Shapiro is a glorified shit stirrer on social media with a history of intentionally provocative comments and asinine views to his name. She does not need to lower herself to that guys level and give him the kind of attention he so desperately wants. She is not obligated to give that guy the time of day on any topic at all let alone a full fledged debate.

Then she should have simply ignored him (or politely declined). You lay with dogs, you get fleas. She looks a lot worse than him in this (outside of her little sycophant bubble).

She really doesn't. Not me at least or any of the people that support her. I see it as her calling him out on his bullshit and so do PLENTY of other people. Pretty much the only people that are seeing him as the winner in all this are the people who support him and don't like her or her politics.

The "winner" in this is gonna depend on which side you were already on.

Thanks, I think I'm going to use that same excuse when Trump refuses to answer some question from the press.

You described her perfectly except for the "his" at the end of the sentence.

Maybe we're all desensitized by Trump saying/doing embarrassing things. But the way she handled this is embarrassing, for reasons already thoroughly covered in the topic.

she is super unqualified for this. she turned down the debate because she knew she would lose disastrously. interestingly, she catcalled her opponent who was rejecting her. she's a hypocrite with terrible ideas that sound good on paper but doesn't work in real life

Yes. Clearly a very balanced and objective individual. (Thats sarcasm) The guy lives to stir shit up and spread the latest conservative talking points. He has done it for years at this point. Everyone knows who and what he is. I can find plenty more of such ridiculous content of his. That was just what I found in a quick google search.

Are you by any chance a fan of Alex Jones or Sean Hannity? Serious question.
Alex Jones, no, and I don't have cable.

Is your takeaway from that video really that Ben Shapiro believes that black people think Black Panther is better than MLK or are you always this disingenuous?

No I don't think he actually believes that. It's an example of hat I said earlier. He exists only to stir the pot and get reactions. I think he is a disingenuous troll that got more notoriety than he deserved and is now desperate to maintain that status. So he goes out of his way to say things and do things that will get his name out there. His offer for debate is exactly that. He targeted her specifically because she is currently a hot topic of discussion. If the previous holder of that seat had won then Shapiro wouldn't have been knocking on his door with $10,000 looking to have a debate.

And nobody would have even noticed or cared that Crowley had won, either. Shame on a pundit/media personality for making a public offer that was a win/win for himself. Boo hoo.

Engage with users' positions directly, not straw men you're inventing

I don't blame him at all for trying to do it. It was in his best interest. But I also don't blame her for turning someone like him down and pointing out why he was doing it. People are pretending that Shapiro is some honest saint that just wanted to have a good old fashioned debate out of the goodness of his soul and that she is somehow obligated to debate him and then when she doesn't that she is somehow lesser because of it and that is just ridiculous to me. Thats the part I take exception to.

I don't know how anyone is jumping to this lady's defense and supporting her. Show me a single interview or speech where she actually says something that makes complete sense.

Why do you hate the Baltimore debate? Because he's making "conservative points"? Because he just dismantled 2 individuals that were clearly just there to laugh at him being racist and ended up being completely silent and ousting themselves as the ones with a narrow viewpoint?
I think he was great, he had his facts with him and that's why people cheered him on.

I think he showed himself to be the exact person that everyone on the Left sees him as. I won't discuss it anymore though. I don't want anymore warnings. Especially over a thread like this. We can agree to disagree.

That "hive mind" ideology.

And yes I'm aware people on the right do the same thing.
