Hated Heavy Rain but I need dis.
Well it's about 1/5th the cost Tomb raider took to make and they have an engine that we know looks very nice on the PS4 despite only being half ported over, which is what the dark sorcerer was. I think thats a pretty small development budget for the impact this game will make, I'm pretty sure I've seen hardware bundles around and the Visuals will be used to avertise the PS3 for a long time.
All of it.
A reasonable budget, should be able to cash in some profits rather quickly.

Are you sure this game is only mid-tier? Sony is promoting it like 1 of their big AAA games.

It wasn't in development hell, but they did go through various versions of the game before landing where they did. There's some prototype footage where it's more along the lines of SotC meets old-school Tomb Raider.

People take showers everyday, its not like its gratuitous. Also, people walk around in their underwear at home, not really seeing the issue here. Are Americans really so prudish?

we don't know if it cost $100M, some analyst threw out that figure when saying games that cost $100M need 5-10M in sales to work out, included tomb raider as an example
You know girls really do walk around their houses like that when alone/with company they're comfortable with. They also shower, don't know the context in this game, but I don't remember it being completely out of place in Heavy rain, not exactly needed but not just tacked on for the whole "boobies!!" bonus points games get.

It's just the fact that that same exact scene is in all three of his games. I know it happens, but why in all 3?
It was tacked on for that exact reason in HR. That scene added nothing to the story.
A simple way to show intimacy or the breakdown of external walls of a character to make them seem more vulnerable.
That horrendous game cost $100 million? Where the hell did all that money go to?

And it's optional. So I don't really see the problem with it. You can do it, but you don't have to. If you feel it would add to the scene do it. If you don't feel that way just don't use the shower. Easy.

Aren't there a lot of little things that you can do in HR that have no purpose to the story? That was part of the point of trying to create something more realistic. And it's not like you can only take showers with female characters.

Gotta love low baller. I've read after Inception she cost $3 million for a movies so I would say they pay her at least $1M for this game.

wow that's much lower than I expected considering the look and scope of this game. Hopefully Sony ramps up marketing and this one gets even better sales than Heavy Rain, I know I'm there Day 1.

Maybe, maybe not. Who knows? The dude is european correct? Nudity is really not a thing in mainland Europe. Hell, when I lived in Germany tgey showed some pretty graphic pornography on TV ay night. It just isn't a big deal there.

I assume that's without marketing? So probably around 2m copies to break even? Seems fairly typical.
Notice the word Simple ;-) It's the easiest and most obvious way.

He does the same pretty much with male characters (Tyler, Ethan). Also when you see a toilet you can use it. It's just how he rolls.

Ehhh......Both of them are not gonna have any trouble getting supporting roles in Hollywood films.
Dafoe is currently attached to 7 Movies in production and Beyond.
Though granted Page is currently attached to just 2 movies in production and Beyond.

I can understand that, and I don't have a problem with it, but the fact that, in order to make a female character "realistic", he has strip them down every chance he gets, says something abut his ability to craft intricate and relatable characters.
Sure you could shower with Ethan, but it wasn't as gratuitous as Madison's scene. Again, no problem with it, but I'm beginning to see a pattern emerge.
No, but watching women shower is, is what I'm guessing they meant.
