Biohazard 2 PC coming out 2/17 (Capcom rehash strikes again!)

Changes from the original PC release:
-Now on one DVD-ROM instead of two CD-ROMS
-Windows 2000 and Windows XP support
-Uncompressed FMV videos
-1980 Yen
-Feb 17, 2006

This is pretty dumb. RE2 was already released for the PC like 7 years ago, and they decide to wait that long to release the "Director's Cut" version? Just give it an update on PS2, GC, whatever.
 
I would love a remake of the second game using the same techniques used in the gamecube remake of the first game. I don't think the game would suit the Resident Evil 4 engine at all.

I doubt it will happen anytime soon however, likely we will see a straight port of RE2 to DS with some tweaks and probably another outbreak game for the 360/PS3 before finally RE5 hits early next year.

Uh, it's not a director's cut. The previous version was for Windows 98, and was on two CD-ROMS.
 
It's essentially a budget re-release of a game that I'd assume is out of print. Why the hell are you people getting uptight about it?

Well, it's not widly available anymore, and there's no excusing the OS updates for those who can't be bothered to run patches.

For me, I want those high-res FMVs. :P

it's the first one, the original GBA one, so it runs in the same res. no english.

also, people who request remakes are kinda weird.

OK, I've been meaning to ask this for a LONG time. I played RE2 for 5 minutes, the game was slow as hell and had AWFUL controls and was, I thought, unplayable garbage. How exactly does RE4 improve on this? Does it still have that awkward "steering" control system?

The controls are exactly the same, but the perspective makes them perfect in the case of RE4.

Well, if you don't include the aiming, they're the same.

The aiming in RE4 is much less limited.
 
Oh man, looking at those screens bring back good memories. My favorite RE game ever!
I seriously, SERIOUSLY hope that RE5 brings back some zombie killing.

They're probably re-releasing it for several reasons.

1. RE2 for PC sells on eBay for obscene prices.
2. They are planning RE4+5 PC ports.
3. They want to add PCs to their supported platforms for some extra $$$.


I don't even think the PC version of RE2 runs on XP. I've heard that the first RE port to PC. No XP support.

Wesker's Report II chronologically precedes the first report, and is addressed to Ada Wong. It details the various people who worked at Umbrella, as well as the discovery and research on various viruses. It also delves into Wesker's motives. It was originally written in Japan and accompanied the REmake version of Resident Evil. It was translated by Capcom Europe, but that version had quite a few errors. lots of older games and arcade games (single rom + emu) games are available on PC from a whole host of companies here in Japan.

Taito, Sega, Capcom, Konami... they all have old games out on PC.

4. They've been doing PC ports for a little while now. Rockman X8 and Onimusha 3 also made it to the PC.

Capcom isn't the only one doing these budget PC releases. SNK Playmore is rereleasing old PC ports, and Sammy is still releasing Guilty Gear games for the PC in addition to consoles.

Speaking as a crazy RE fan, how likely will Biohazard 2 PC be available? I'd really like it to see how they did the interface since it's on one disc. And the high-res, uncompressed movies are a plus, as well. And I can play on the road with my mom's laptop while we all wait for Biohazard 2 DS. :)

For all we know they could have ported the GC version over rather than use the old version.
 
I thought this thread was funny, because it was pointing out something completely useless to 99% of the forum population, but yet posts still came up saying they were "disgusted" or "pissed off!!!" at a budget re-release with additional content.

Although, IIRC, wasn't the Win95/98 port of RE2 absolutely miserable in some way? I remember that it had some sort of huge graphics flaw or something, and people were absolutely livid!!!! For a week or so. As PC gamers are wont to do.
 
I don't see why people are so angry at Capcom for this. It's a PC port, not another console port, and while they're not really improving the game (it's fucking RE2, can it even BE improved? Kamiya for president!) they're at least making it 1 DVD and putting in uncompressed FMVs. At 20 bucks its a great deal imo. I might actually pick this one up. :D
