No, this isn't just some FB fun picture. This is an actual site that tells people to pay up if they don't want their face and information made aware to the public.
What do you guys think of this?

Not a problem, or blackmailing?

Well, in my country it'd be blackmailing.

In the US, however, you can be made a registered sex offender for life as a kid, so I don't know.

If the criminal has paid his/her due in money or years then this is wrong (otherwise, it'd be more like a public service announcement).

This is blackmail and it should be stopped.

Matthew Creed, you made a huge mistake putting your name on a big ass billboard advertising that you are going to be willingly blackmailing and fucking people over.

Kansas Statute 21-3428:

Blackmail. [See Revisor's Note] (a) Blackmail is gaining or attempting to gain anything of value or compelling or attempting to compel another to act against such person's will, by threatening to:

(1) Communicate accusations or statements about any person that would subject such person or any other person to public ridicule, contempt or degradation; or

(2) disseminate any videotape, photograph, film, or image obtained in violation of subsection (a)(6) of K.S.A. 2011 Supp. 21-6101, and amendments thereto.

(b) Blackmail as defined in:

(1) Subsection (a)(1) is a severity level 7, nonperson felony; and

(2) subsection (a)(2) is a severity level 4, person felony.

Isn't blackmail something that's normally kept on the low, maybe even normally anonymous or veiled? You know... so the person blackmailing someone doesn't get their face cracked open with a bat?

Sounds like blackmail. These are public record, but saying that you'll notify people unless they pay up is fishy as hell. Then again, this might not be considered blackmail because it is public record...

True, but it's more than that. Imagine you are living in a neighbourhood after you have done your stint in jail for DUI and are now being rehabilitated. No one in your neighbourhood knows about this and has maintains an amicable relationship with you. Now, Blabbermouth comes along and publicly shames you. Remember that people in general tend to judge others by their cover before they personally know the person and even then people aren't free from it. There goes your public face.

It's more about dehumanizing and humiliating with this kind of BS.

PS Removing your profile doesn't remove you from the website entirely. Their map still shows your address, just with the addendum "Profile Removed".

The business model itself relies on this being blackmail. If there was no motivation to have the profile removed, he wouldn't make money. The mere fact he's writing a letter and offering this removal for a fee out of the kindness of his heart completely betrays his justifications. Every letter he sends out constitutes a felony if he were to be convicted.

However is it still a 'public record' anywhere other than the official site.

If they were interested in protecting the public, there wouldn't be an option to remove a profile.

What fucking high and mighty, self righteous, vigilante, bullying, petty, cowardly, cunting little fucks.

Aside from the last one, he's honestly none of those things.

He's actually just a scammer trying to make a buck at the expense of others. He's not doing this out of some sort of perverted justice, he just wants easy money. Which is actually worse than all those things you listed because it seems he'll do anything for a buck.

Well, Matthew Creed, enjoy your future prison cell.
He's trying to make a career out of blackmailing former convicts, and now he put his name out in public. If he gets out of this with only prison time then he should consider himself lucky. Not the smartest business model, but you can't say that he doesn't have balls.

Let me get this straight. You think that these people, some of the most desperate, possibly dangerous people in the world, and have the potential to beat people to a pulp with their bare hands; and your plan, is to *blackmail* these people?
