Hmmm, seems like it was ripped straight out of guilty gear...
Its kinda a spiritual successor to the storyline in guilty gear.

Before the events of BlazBlue, humanity was on the the verge of extinction from the "Black Beast", a creature of Darkness. Hope came in the form of six heroes who wield the power of magic. Together, the six heroes & humanity created "Armagus" a combination of Magic & Technology to defeat the Beast which would be known as The First War of Magic.

After the war, the New World Void Space Cue Administration Bureau was created to govern the new world which have discovered the use of Armagus. Under the Bureau, Humanity began reconstructing & the world was under their dictatorship. However this cause much dissent for the people due to fact Armagus was use in every issue & the widening socioeconomic gap between those who could use & cannot use Armagus. This dissent would eventually form years later into the The Ikaruga Civil War or The Second War of Magic, when the Ikaruga Union openly rebel against the Bureau. After the war, the Bureau impose a harsher rule on the world declaring anyone defying them will be killed.

On December A.D.2199, several years after the Second war, a branch of the Bureau was utterly destroy by an SS-class traitor named "Ragna the Bloodedge" also known as "the God of Death." His quest was to destroy the Bureau. The New World Void Space Cue Administration Bureau, hoping to stop him, immediately put the largest bounty ever for anyone who could capture him.

Makes sense, I was wondering why the characters and moves looked so much like it. Everyone in there looks like an alter-ego from the respected character in GG, and after seeing the animation, it certainly favors guilty gear....

Cant wait to see what types of mechanics it has that help distinguish it a bit.

so I played this at Anime Expo today, and I must say, you can tell it follows the "steps" of Guity Gear but its ALSO SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL.

They had an "laptop" setup to run the game on a 46" LCD TV and it looked so damn good, it also plays well. I tried to get some info out of the guy about which console its coming out on but he was all hush hush and was asking what I thought about the game and what system I would like to see it on.

2 THUMBS UP for me.

Its not a rather bad setup...
Saves costs involving custom hardware, plus your development and distro platforms are one in the same.

This is why I'm trying to find a place that sells the HDD + USB Keys so I can get a rig going at home. :lol

:lol nice,

I would love to have a setup like that at home but I think when it comes out to PS3 (if it does) that will suffice, then I can test out my custom joystick :D

Seems like someone hit the reset on the Guilty Gear world as it goes through a HD filter.

Everything people say seems like this will still be one of the nicest looking fighters, with aggressive and highly technical game play.

Ten characters does seem... low, but to me the one glaring weakness to Arc System Works is the animation. I can't imagine how stunning their games could be if they looked more fluid.

Battle Fantasia looks awesome.
Love it on my HDTV too. :D

No idea, its hitting the arcades soon.
Knowing Arc System Works... ~6months - 12months

Have they said anything about online play for the console version(s)?
They had it in GGX2:#Reload, and Battle Fantasia so most likely.

Okay, this thread has not been updated in like forever... where to start? Ah, guess the characters, since we are missing a lot of them:

General info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlazBlue:_Calamity_Trigger

1)Taokaka

t7mwci.jpg

9sxgup.jpg

18lw1t.jpg

16kuul4.jpg

He speciality is dash, rush moves which basically allow her to move around the field fast and freely, all while attacking.

2.)Rachel

2nq46z7.jpg

axkv4l.jpg

2rmqt09.jpg

Zoning specialist, can set up rods which then can be struck by lightning, a really annoying slowly jumping on the ground frog move that stuns and a pretty strong counter. Also can control the wind with dashes for various effect. Has gotten a lot of play at the latest loketest in Japan. Very interesting character

3.)Laichi

Busty Chinese gal with staff... not as hot as I would have hoped, but not that bad. Ah well. At least has glasses.

*no pics, only scans lo far*

Feilin is described as a Jam/Bridget hybrid. Her Drive is called "Man Ten Bou" (萬天棒, loosely translated as "Myriad Heavens Staff") and involves using her staff for zoning. The D button, as well as certain special moves, can be used to set it in place (I am guessing one may press f/b/u+D to place it in the desired location?). By pressing D a second time, the staff is called back to Feilin (?). I believe she can also propel herself towards it (like Bridget's Rolling Idou). The range of her normal moves is (obviously) shorter while she fights unarmed (after sending out her staff).

4.)Arakune

2e2f3hd.jpg

Arakune's "Crimson" Drive curses the opponent, much like Testament's Phantom Soul. While the curse is in effect, performing normal or special moves causes insects to appear on the screen and attack (I assume that they appear when the opponent attacks, not when Arakune does?). Hitting Arakune lifts the curse (just as with Testment). The site describes Arakune as a mix of Testament and Eddie (likely based on what has been revealed so far).

5.)Bang Shishigami

*only scans so far*

Ninja whatever guy, portrait meh, ingame looks fine. I hope for a over the top "I am the strongest" character. Think Tekken's Paul

There is something about a "12 shurikens per round" thing and poison and something about his supers powering stuff up. Fights with a giant nail. And hey, with move names like "Lion God Ninja Style - Ultra Secret Art - Banzai Life or Death Great (Volcanic) Eruption" you can hardly go wrong.

6.)Carl Clover... those names are SO random... also, this one is not bad in a funny way unlike Bang's

*yup, only scans now*

Seems like a puppeteer character, small guy (looks like kid Detective Conan) with a top hat

Finally, some loketest footage, not great gameplay but hey, a peek's a peek, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uWxdEZwKX4 (view before it goes down)

Many thanks to the guys at SRK forums and especially umgogo for a lot of the translations.

Looks like a grown up bridget with breasts.

Also reminds me of Ciel from Melty Blood.

*shudder*

Anyway this thing looks awesome, I'm really picky about fighting games and I'm not a big fan of street fighter so for me it's great that this is on the horizon. Day freaking one if it comes out on the 360.

Well, a bit of an update:
http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1217089_1124.html

And for the uninitiated/lazy:

*)Bang Shishigami

2reio7k.jpg

2vngryt.jpg

9gascl.jpg

307rzig.jpg

Height: 192 cm.
Weight: 105 kg.
Date of birth: 1/1
Blood type: B
Origin: Country of Light
Hobbies: Training, thinking up names for special techniques (Translator's comment: It shows in his move names!)
Likes/precious things: Justice and the spike* he carries as a memento of his feudal lord (?)
Dislikes: Evil

* The weapon's name - "Gojuu Gosun Kugi" (五十五寸釘) - is a pun.

"Gosun kugi" (五寸釘) means "long nail" or "spike".

I quote BRPXQXME:

"五十五 would be 55, and one sun being ~3.03cm, 55 sun is about 66 inches.

At any rate, 五十五 or just 五十 is just one of those words that can mean “a great number” in older Japanese (-) it basically adds up to mean “big-ass nail”."

Bang is quick on his feet, but his attacks are quite slow (though powerful). He is a well-rounded fighter, his arsenal including a projectile (aerial qcf+A/B/C/D), a rushing attack (presumably the f, b, f+B ground/air attacks) and a command throw (ground/air dp+C?).

His aerial projectile is limited in supply, but a hit will poison the opponent for a limited time (I assume the effect can be negated by hitting Bang) and also hold him/her in place for a moment.

Bang's Burning Heart Drive is a slow attack (presumably too slow to combo) that has a guard point (think Anji). It can be followed up on for combos. More importantly, each BH hit adds a "Fuu", "Rin", "Ka" or "Zan" mark (spelling "Fuurinkazan", or "swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as fire and immovable like the mountain"). These marks apparently carry over between rounds.

When Bang has collected four marks, he can perform a third Distortion Drive (qcbx2+D) to enter a special state in which he becomes faster and his attacks do more damage (?). **

Either way, it seems that when in "Fuurin mode" (my abbreviation, use it at will), he cannot block or even walk normally (he will automatically dash, and this dash can be performed in the air), and I believe he will stay in this mode for the remainder of the match?! I wonder if one can combo into the qcbx2+D and then extend the combo with the added speed (as with Ashley's Heat Up mode in Battle Fantasia)...

** Thanks to Bloodcrave on DL(dustloop) for the corrections!

*)Carl

f1jcpg.jpg

2i9hxqh.jpg

2m2zv4n.jpg

"Togajin wo oishi ningyoutsukai" ("The puppetmaster who pursues criminals")

Height: 144 cm.
Weight: 35 kg.
Date of birth: 5/5
Blood type: AB
Origin: Austria
Hobbies: Playing the violin, chess
Likes: His older sister
Dislikes: Lies

Carl is a first-class hunter of criminals (bounty hunter?). Despite his tender age, his talent and skills are very impressive. Together with the enigmatic puppet "Nirvana", he travels the world eliminating felons. He sets out for Kagutsuchi to face his next target, Ragna=The=Bloodedge (or obtain information about him/his whereabouts?). Carl always conducts himself in a courteous manner, never allowing his smile to fade. Not even when confronting his target...

Drive: Automaton
Carl's Drive button is used to manipulate the Nirvana puppet. With combinations of the directions and the D button (f+D, b+D, etc.?), the puppet can perform various movements and attacks. Carl is quick but has short range on his attacks, while the Nirvana is the opposite. Carl players should use skilful cooperation between the two characters to win.
His small frame allows him to "hide" behind Nirvana's attacks (which are slow but powerful). Nirvana remains inert until activated by the D button (plus directions), and apparently its movements are carried out when the D button is released (like Arakune's insect attacks).

Nirvana has its own life bar, which decreases as she sustains hits (i.e. like Elfriede rather than little Eddie). Should it (she?) be knocked out, the Drive function is disabled for a limited time (in this regard, she resembles Eddie more than Elfriede, who has to be tended to by Lieselotte before becoming available again).

Carl is aimed at players who wish to master a complex character with difficult and spectacular combos.

-----

Thus ends the latest update, many thanks to all at shoryuken forums, especially umgogo and this time BRPXQXME :D

Love the new vid, love all the characters (except Iron Tager and Nail Guy)

I cannot wait to get me a piece of that Cat-Wolverine Berserker Barrage Action. I also love Rachel Allucard and the Dark Stalkerish goofy horror vibe I get from her.

Hopefully it's out by January, I'll probably waste a day of my Japan trip on this game lol...

Will import day one whenever that is. Also I have a feeling I'll be importing a few times like when Blazblu YY: Treble Clef eventually comes out.

MarkMan

loves Arcade Sticks
I played with both Bang and Carl on the latest version and they play REALLY nice.

Carl is very unique, he's like controlling two characters at once using a mechanic/style not seen in fighting games before. Very well implemented and should make for a great character once people figure out what you can really do with him.

I'm loving Bang, ninjas are awesome.

Wow, holy crap at the art design in general being in complete HD. The stages look absolutely unbelievable, especially the rose field stage! I loved Guilty Gear on the Dreamcast, but haven't played once since then. I assume this'll be just as awesome.

It's amazing how varied the limited number of fighters seem to be. This will be a wonderful addition even amongst the onslaught of AAA fighters.

Until the AAAA fighter
King of Fighters XII
rules us all.

Are you also taking into consideration all the characters from the CPS3 Jojo games?

Yes. Once you try him you'll know what I'm talking about. It really is unique/weird.
Now you've got me wondering what it's like if it's nothing like any of the Jojo characters.
