The highly-desired Bloodborne PC port was apparently canceled after the developer behind it released a poor Horizon Zero Dawn PC port, according to a rumor from a Spanish YouTuber. The developer originally in charge of the Horizon PC port was Virtuos, who is also involved in Metal Gear Solid 3 remake rumors and Marvel’s Avengers. As usual, we recommend taking this rumor with a few grains of salt.

Horizon Zero Dawn PC port had to be fixed by Guerrilla and Nixxes

The podcaster, known as BaityBait [yeah, we know] who has over 160,00 followers on Twitch, explains what he heard about the Bloodborne PC port on The Wild Project. As a summary of what he says, as translated by PlayStation LifeStyle, he “presumptively heard that, from an unknown source, Virtuos bungled the PC port of Horizon and Sony had to bring Guerrilla in to fix it. And in turn, Sony canceled the Bloodborne PC port that was being made by the same studio.”

Sony, through Guerrilla, apparently subcontracted Virtuos to develop the PC port for Horizon Zero Dawn, because at the time, it didn’t have much expertise on how to do this. Horizon Zero Dawn released on Steam in August 2020, and while it has a positive rating today, it had a slew of negative user reviews due to its poor technical performance at launch. So if Virtuos was in fact also slated to develop the Bloodborne PC port, it would make sense that Sony would have nixed that project too.

In time, Guerrilla and Sony were able to fix the Horizon PC port within a few months, and even brought in Nixxes Software to help with the game’s PC patches in December 2021, just a few months after Sony acquired it.

Fans have been clamoring for a Bloodborne PC port for years, and on Twitter, either Bloodborne itself or the #FreeBloodborne hashtag has been seen trending on the platform. In September 2022, an insider said that a Bloodborne remaster must be done by FromSoftware, but the studio is too busy (with Armored Core 6, no doubt).

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Riiiight, because even if Horizon did have a poor launch (nah) that's what you compare Bloodborne to, some Ubisoft-esque shallow open world snorefest, not the Souls games which the PC platform saved and helped turn into the multimillion selling franchise it became after Dark Souls >_>

I don't buy this for a second. The only thing Horizon and Bloodborne have in common is that they are both IPs owned by Sony. Sony execs have to know the popularity of Fromsoft's catalog on PC. How exactly would Horizon, yet another open world checklist game in a fucking ocean of them, be any predictor of the success of a Fromsoft game on PC?

Honestly this feels beyond fake. For something that is in such high demand, I can't imagine they'd do something like that.

But man, if they did, that'd be hilariously awful.

If bloodborne was even on Sonys radar it wouldve got a 60 fps patch by now. They dont even care to patch the game on their own console but they were going to port it?
Thats some low IQ rumor.

Lol. No. Bloodborne would have likely blown the fuck up on PC. There has been a far bigger outcry for that game to be on other platforms than Horizon could ever hope to have. And I say that as someone who loves Horizon. Besides, if that's true then why did Sony proceed with Days Gone on PC? Horizon sold way more and had better critical reception. Why would Sony proceed with any PC port of a game that did much less on console to begin with if Horizon "failed"?

If Sony is that reactionary the I assume that port is ready to go now after Elden Ring success.

lol even if true, sales number for horizon were pretty decent considering the shitty ass port. they should have been good enough to release BB on PC and PS5, but as ppl said....BB will not go to PC without going to ps5 as well and ps5 will be priority for sony.

No way that’s true. Especially since if they were making a PC port (assumedly with 60fps) they’d almost definitely release it on PS5 too.

You didn't read the OP. It wasn't bad in terms of sales it was bad in terms of the quality of it's porting/development effort. So they cancelled the second game they were porting(BB) after the botched 1st game launched(Horizon).

Hmm.. From has admitted that BB's codebase is a disaster. Almost implying that it would be easier to do a full remake. Guess it checks out that way?

Do you all know how to read? The "poor Horizon PC launch" bit does not refer to sales but actual PC performance, platform-specific features and general optimization - all which was a mess for Horizon at launch.

If Bloodborne was similarly fucked up, wouldn't you shelve the project altogether after witnessing the trainwreck that was Horizon's launch? Another, better suited port house could always pick up the project and reboot development on a current gen version and PC port.

It's still stupid as fuck. Why would an Horizon port have any relevance when it comes to Bloodborne? Horizon uses the Decima engine which Death Stranding proved could work on PC. Porting Horizon has fuck-all to do with Bloodborne. That's a complete non-sequitur.

Yeah, they run on different engines, so what? Does that mean the same studio cannot fuck up the development of both projects?

I mean id rather not have Nixxes touching anything, nor that studio. Both are incompetent at what they do, and yes Spiderman pc at release was bad, just like Tomb Raider 2013 (probs the biggest piece of shit I've seen and played at launch), Rise of the tomb raider and Shadow of the tomb raider. Deus Ex mankind divided was also bad (still is overly demanding to this day, imagine not getting 60 fps on a 2080ti coupled to a 12600k at 1440p nowadays)

Just give it to those who did Days Gone. Bloodborne gone. f

Good. Waste of resources and time. Make something new.
Nah. There’s lots of people that have never played but are just waiting for a way to play that doesn’t involve buying or having to find an old PS4. Elden Ring got a lot of people into souls-likes. It would be nice to have a modern way to play the game. Surely a PS5/PC port wouldn’t be a huge amount of work for a port studio with Sony or From supervising.

It would be interesting to see how the larger casual market would react to arguably the most linear fromsoft game after such a huge open game like ER.

It's nonsense because nothing adds up. What happens to Horizon is irrelevant to what happens to Bloodborne. Additionally, Horizon was fixed within a month so Sony being reactionary and canceling the project of what would have been their most successful game on PC is incredibly moronic. There was never a Bloodborne in development for PC.

It would have been ported by an external firm, little warrior.

Sony is gonna wait until there’s a slow few months then release Bloodborne 60 fps remaster for $70 + tip on console then drop the PC port a few months later like they did with Uncharted and TLOU.
Was thinking the same, summer this year would have been a good time as they have nothing much coming out.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
