That's what I took from Rothstein missing his pool shot in this episode. That he's made the wrong decision and it's going to cost him dearly.
I got the year wrong.Spoiler history pls :c
I got the year wrong. Calm the fuck down.
And how the FUCK is history considered spoiler?
I wasn't being a dick at you. I was implying to the moron who wants me banned because he is ignorant.Because I don't know history. It's not really any different to not having read a book before seeing the film/TV series.
Also I was being polite about it, no need to be a dick
I got the year wrong.
And how the FUCK is real life event history considered spoiler?
Are you stupid? In few pages ago, people were talking about the years when certain real life characters like Masseria gets killed off, without spoiler. Are you serious? We've had this discussion and rule in every single Boardwalk thread since the beginning. Since a lot of the characters follow the history of their real-life counterparts, there are many of us watching the show who are deliberately avoiding their history.
I can't believe you could be so stupid. I'm seriously pissed off right now.
It's NOT a spoiler. The writers can alter the real life history events whatever they wish to fit. For the last time, calm down. They already did this in the past in Boardwalk Empire.Well thank you, I didn't see that a few pages ago, but now you've spoiled that for me too. Please do us all a favor and stop posting already. Jesus fucking christ.

I thought he deliberately left them with no shot like he explained in his speech to them. That's what I took from Rothstein missing his pool shot in this episode. That he's made the wrong decision and it's going to cost him dearly.
Well I apologize. Happy now?Is that based on how they've pretty much followed the events and years of history so far pretty accurately - eg: in this past episode with Jess Smith.
You could at least apologize for ruining this stuff.

Has there been instances where Boardwalk Empire differs from what happened in history? I'm pretty sure some dates and events have been slightly fiddled with. I know for a fact that the real Nucky didn't have Buscemi's frame.
And any answers should deal with what's already happened in Boardwalk Empire, please don't spoil or paste a history lesson that could spoil the show.

This is beginning to remind me of the Game of Thrones thread. People just don't realize when they're spoiling something apparently. Also, Masseria wasn't known as "Joe the Boss" until the late 20's, yet Gyp called him that a couple episodes back.
I guess they're just trying to keep history snobs on their toes.
Jesus fucking christ, Chip.
It's Gyp
Can't imagine a guy named Chip would ever beat someone's head in with a shovel.
What's crazy is you see it coming but you have a sliver of hope he'll calm down.
I disagree. In fact, I'd say that this season BE has relied far too much on random shock violence at the end of each episode to "save" it.His brutality has made this season.
Don't know if it's been said but I was really put off by the episode last night. BE usually does a pretty good job of masking their plot twists and big moments.
I was able to telegraph the end of the episode from early on and that was pretty shitty.
Big moment #1: It was clear thatOwen was gonna die when he went through all the motions of planning for the future but he had to just take care of this 'easy business' for Nucky.
ALWAYS means its bad news for a character.
Big moment #2: It was clear to me that Margaret waspregnant when she seemed a little ho hum about finally getting the birth control from the doctor. It was cemented when he made a mention of her looking ill or fevered or something.
Big moment #3: When Kessler tells Nucky"HEY BOSS, THERE IS A BOX THAT JUST GOT DELIVERED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! THERE'S NOTHING STRANGE ABOUT THIS!!!
Also, in a smaller nitpick, I wish that Harrow'sgirl had taken off the mask and kissed the real him when he asked her for a kiss. It would have been powerful to show she fully accepts him.
That scene with Gypand the shovel was stomach turning. I couldn't watch when the neck went limp.
So foreshadowing is all of a sudden terrible?.
Foreshadowing. Made the episode even richer for me. But the show does enough to invert expectations that any such hints can often be red herrings.Don't know if it's been said but I was really put off by the episode last night. Wow, had no idea- The National cover Ill See You in My Dreams for Boardwalk Empire
I didn't know that was them over the end credits, but I listened to it again and you can tell it's Matt Berninger.
See that's funny because I did.Naw, good foreshadowing was Nucky and that kid in the liquor hideout.
They foreshadowed like crazy that the kid was gonna be trouble but I didn't see Nucky's immediate, final resolution coming. At all.
That was played extremely well. We (the audience) were as shocked as Owen's character.
I love BE but I think they got this episode wrong.
See that's funny because I did.
There's much that I don't see coming, some stuff that I think will happen that doesn't, and certain things (like Owen's death being imminent) that I'm fairly confident are inevitable. All part of Boardwalk, imo. Just agree to disagree on this particular episode, I guess.

It's fine that you're wrong, but do you have to be a dick at the same time? You saw Nucky pulling the trigger (in that moment) coming?
Wow. Ok. You must be psychic!
I would say I figured the kid wouldn't make it (long term) but to say I foresaw Nucky acing him in coldblood from behind?
Nope. Nothing about that scene even set up that kinda payoff.

Do you not remember the episode that well? A significant theme throughout was Nucky fearing that Owen didn't know his place. Roland as the third party gave them the opportunity to play off that. When they left the cellar, you knew Nucky had two choices: kill Roland for stealing from him and so he doesn't fuck him over again, or hire him because he's got skills.
But there were certain hints in the dialogue that made me certain that Nucky would kill him, most importantly Roland saying: "How else are you supposed to get ahead?'
Ambition and independence, precisely what Nucky hates with subordinates.
