In 2005 science created the perfect machine. Over time, man has destroyed that machine. These are the remains.

I listen to Nextlander still. Fire escape felt like I was wasting my time. It chased rabbits too much for me and Mike is grating.

Jeff I don’t care about.

Dan is a lot of fun.

GB was way too platform partisan, they rode high during the 360 era but after that...

I'll never forget the TVTVTV E3 and their reaction to it.

Ryckert was at gameinformer at one point right? I think I remember him from silly play throughs they would do. He was fun.

Mike just tries far too hard. I’m sure he’s a nice guy away from the podcast but it’s a difficult listen when he’s let loose. He was actually ok at GameSpot though as he couldn’t go crazy.

Maiden Voyage Maiden Voyage Thanks for the thread, excellent job!

I’m finding Nextlander a chore to listen to now. I’ve just spent some time with their latest podcast and they all sound so…miserable.

Now, we never know what’s going on in someone’s personal life. But the chances are that ALL three of them aren’t having a bad time right now. So what gives?

They’re making a lot of money now, they’re no longer tied to the evil corporate overlords which was Giant Bomb.

But they’re just so…bored now? Maybe it’s because I’m consuming a lot of content elsewhere these days but Vinny, Alex and Brad are going through the motions or at least that’s how it feels. Especially Vinny. But he did leave a podcast earlier last week as he was going to a funeral so hope everything is ok with him.

I’m no longer a patron of theirs because I didn’t feel that the content was frequent enough or rather, I don’t want to listen to hours of discussion about Star Trek. When I was a patron, someone asked “why are your podcasts always two hours long”? And it got me thinking. Everything is so formulaic with Nextlander. Like, you can bet your last dollar they will wind down 90% of their content on the 2 hour mark.

I respect that people have lives. But Nextlander feels like they’re just clocking in and clocking out of a job.

I’ve said it before, they’re good people and I wish them the very best. But they really need to stop covering video games because the passion simply isn’t there and they’re not very good at hiding it.

Vinny on todays podcast referred to Thanksgiving as a problematic holiday......I just about ran off the road at that take.

I've been re-listening to some old Bombcasts and he might as well be a different person from back then. He was so much sharper and more than willing to make a poor-taste joke.

Vinny worked on Chapel show so yes he was a lot different. People change over time and when young we say some things not thinking about the consequences. But they are very different now.

I found it interesting on the last Nextlander Q&A how they addressed the relationship with Jeff. It seems like it made them all uncomfortable.

Do you have a link to the video?
Its from a Patreon Q&A so it is behind a paywall. The gist of it was someone called in and asked, "will you ever do any videos with Jeff Gerstmann" Alex replied saying that he knew this question would come up and they discussed it in a very stiff manner. I found a reddit post talking about it but the site is down, I dont know if any one else can elaborate further from my points.

It just seems that they are doing a bunch of content with all of the other previous GB employees except for him. I don't know if I am just reading into this too much though lol.
