brand new Uncharted 4 trailer at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Trailer wasn't really a normal video game trailer. More like a short commercial spot aimed at getting some name recognition going. There really wasn't anything shown.

I await these sources

21 million units sold for the franchise (an average of 7 million per title, despite the first one selling like shit):
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1057088
(This only includes the three PS3 titles)

8 million units sold for the franchise as of October 4th, 2011 (1 month before Uncharted 3 launched):
http://www.jp.playstation.com/info/release/nr_20111004_uncharted3.html

13 million units as of December 5th, 2011 (1 month after Uncharted 3 launched, note that at that point of time, UC3 sold double that of UC2 as mentioned in this article):
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-12-05-uncharted-series-sells-13-million-copies
(Basic math means Uncharted 3 sold 5 million in its first month)

For comparison's sake, The Last of Us hit 6 million on March 14th, 2014 (9 months after launch):
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-last-of-us-sells-6-million-copies/1100-6418319/

17 million for the franchise as of April 24th, 2012 (5 months after Uncharted 3 launched):
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-04-24-uncharted-franchise-hits-17-million-units-sold
(Majority of those 9 million units since Uncharted 3 launched were most likely UC3 sales because that's how video game sales work).

With an additional couple of million units between the 17 million milestone & 21 million milestones, UC3 LTD should be anywhere between 9 million to 12 million.

The Last of Us only hit 8 million after the remaster was released (Although it most likely matched UC3 LTD since then, because of the re-release & subsequent heavy bundling).

So I just saw this at my theatre, IMAX showing in Hooksett, NH.

There was BTS footage, showing Nolan North and Troy Baker doing Mocap stuff, with Bruce and so on discussing the impact of the focus on the story and ideals behind the game design, which was pretty cool. Troy and Nolan both weighed in on some stuff, and they showed some of the footage and then the overlay of the mocap of the moment in the scene, which was impressive.

The CG scene was really brief, with a really solemn piece to tie into it, with a sort of tagline, dramatic flash-scene, just something as a splash image, the BTS was much more impressive and a more than 2 minutes long, so that was the real 'meat' of it.

They also showed the Star Wars 'nostalgia' commercial for Battlefront leading into the opening of the movie as well.

All in all, definitely a solid PS4 representation, hah.

Was not shown in Poland, very late Friday showing.

The were Call of Duty and Life of a Gamer PS4 commercials.

there was a thread about games in 2016 you're worried about. i'm starting to fear that the whole thing about "games being too short" will be a rumor about Uc4 before it's out. i hope i'm wrong.

uncharted games usually average around 10 hours yeah?

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.

I see you trying to make Uncharted sales posts all the time. and i've corrected you before that the series sold 8 million a year before Uc3 launched, not one month before it.

as for 7 million being the "average" that each game sells, the 21m mark came in the middle of this year, 4 years after the latest installment. i don't think there's really a wait time to tell for the average sales amount of a product. it's usually just about how much it sells at launch and a year later, I guess. also, I often saw Uc1 and 2 sold in double packs, and I think it's highly likely that that boosted the sales of the first game and helped the series reach 21 million.

that's also where your discussion with zsynqx sort of started. you compared "uncharted's average sales of 7 million per inst" to tlou's when that game came out in the last year of the Ps3's life cycle, and the 7m mark was announced 1 year afterwards.
I cannot find the thread at the moment but there was one about fears you have for games coming out next year. i'd have posted in that if I found it but for some reason as I woke up today I randomly started thinking about, after the order and halo 5 this year, what if this "shortness" thing plagues Uc4?

So based on absolutely nothing, got it. :p

UC4 is the longest dev time an ND game has ever received

And it's being led by the same people who made TLOU, a 15+ hour game.

I don't think UC4 is going to be short at all, especially since it's closing the series. I expect it to be the longest UC game by far

yeah, based on nothing. just the scares from a couple of this year's games.

that would be awesome. i hope you're right.

Like someone above said, I am expecting about 12h. Longer than the old UC games but shorter than TLOU.
word. and as far as sales goes, i honestly think this (Uc4) could pull halo numbers. and I know uncharted games haven't done that before but it is now playstation's biggest IP, basically their halo, and with the Ps4's momentum, I think it's possible.
They already said it's going to be the longest Uncharted campaign. I don't know where the hell you're getting this rumor from.
source?

and i already said i'm getting it from nowhere.

Films fucking awesome btw.

Just saw it in the commercial section before the movie. Slow-mo CG trailer. I couldn't think of a worse, less impressive way to show off the game.

I actually hope this doesn't play when I go see Star Wars. I've seen enough Uncharted 4 to know that I'm definitely buying it, the rest I'd like to keep as a surprise.

I'm sure it will be a reasonable length but neither the longer dev time nor the length of TLOU are factors I would consider in making that estimate.

TLOU is a slower paced game with lots of "exploration" based on scrounging. You move more slowly through the environment than in an Uncharted game.

This game has a longer dev cycle because it's the first on a new platform and it's being crafted with this new level of fidelity. So more dev time doesn't necessarily mean more game content in terms of length.

Yeah, the BTS stuff was in the "Pre-Show" thing they showed, before stuff about Point Break and such.

It was cool, they did a really good showing, the mocap stuff was good, and Bruce and the gang were really enthusiastic, discussing the game's process.

But the CG thing was just a really brief, 15-20 second splash scene. Like a slow motion pan shot, where Nate seems to be diving for the coin, but as it pans around past (I believe) Nadine and a bunch of other mercs as the floor is collapsing (it's all super slow motion, so it's not like a really action packed moment), it turns out he's trying to grab his brother who is falling from the edge instead of the coin.

And it has Nate's voice talking about himself as "A no good thief, maybe that's how they'll remember me." or something along those lines.

Sorry for not remembering in more detail.

Plus they threw out a lot of work with the switch up in game direction

I expect about 10 hours, right in-between the 9 hour average of UC3 and 11 hour average for UC2.

Saw it last night at other theater for my second viewing. Definitely nothing special. Take that shot they have shown to tease it, then the camera just pans to Drake reaching for his brother. That's it.

You are using wrong dates to try to make U3 sales better than it is.

A more fair breakdown using the news/sources:

U1: ~4m
U2: ~7m
U3: ~7m

The rest of sales goes to GA and the double pack that counts for U1 and U2.

I saw the movie at Century 12 San Mateo. No Uncharted trailer :( We had some blizzard trailers. But no Uncharted 4 or Star Wars Battlefront trailer.

he often does that. i don't say that as a means of disrespect, but i just don't believe it. if the games sold that well, i feel like sony would've released sales numbers for each. and i agree, the double pack probably boosted sales.

the last link does say 21 million sold across 3 games. but if they're just saying that because most people only know about the trilogy, then yeah, golden abyss, and that fourth labyrinth book too, since it is part of the uncharted franchise
