Anyone else feel like it's kind of weird that Star Wars movies are always starring women who look like this? Seeing Finn and Poe have important roles was a nice change of pace, but it feels like white (likely British) women are the only women who are allowed to have starring roles in Star Wars movies. What gives?

cute brunettes are the best women, it is known

apart from that, portman played fisher's mother and ridley is very likely related as well, so I guess that made sense, after that it's just tradition, and I don't mind

That is one of the most unflattering potos I´ve seen of Daisy Ridley lol, and I agree about Nyongo, I like Maz character but I wished we had her on screen and not just voicing a character

Mostly because they're (probably) related in universe, Rogue One's star being the notable exception. It would have been cool if they thought outside the box for that movie, but oh well, it's not a dealbreaker.

I really like Maz so no disappointment from me, looking forward to her appearing again. That said I'd rather Lupita was in the Han Solo film as Sana and Emilia Clarke was nowhere near these films, or any films.

Wait? That is Emilia Clarke? I didn't knew she was in these movies, I thought she was Ridley lol

I'm really glad people are starting to point out lupita/maz, when I did that in the pre release threads for TFA everyone was like "cgi character need good actors as well" when they finally had the chance to have an actual black woman speaking a line a star wars movie after 7 movies and 30+ years. I wonder if there is a black woman speaking a line in rogue one.

Well, three of them are (likely) the same bloodline so some of it stems from the original casting of Carrie Fisher. And if they're not supposed to be genetically similar, at least TFA (if not the prequels as well) bent over backwards to look like the originals, so more brunettes.

I can't remember if my account was here when that happened, but I was pretty annoyed when I heard they brought her in just for a CG character.

There is. One of the Rebellion leaders in the briefing room. She's in at least one of the trailers.

This is a long shot, but I'm going to guess the bit where you said 'likely British' is the reasoning for the response

I know exactly where it came from, I'm more annoyed that the poster didn't read what I said carefully and decided to correct a mistake that wasn't there.

There's at least one in the trailer

But it is there, hence his response to your comment.

If it wasn't there, he couldn't respond to it.

You seem awfully angry about everything. The 8th Star Wars film is releasing this week and in 6 of them the main female actress isn't British, so it's a bit strange to imply 'likely British'.

To be fair, Padme, Leia, and possibly Rey, are all related, skywalkers and brown hair seem to be a common thing.

the same reason all their most well known costume designs center around the colors white and beige:

Can you believe that one of those is a frostbite render, fucking DICE.

I'm not really sure what you're having difficulty with. The original poster said that Carrie and Natalie aren't British in response to my OP, my OP did not mention they were British, just that the starring women in the SW universe are likely British, referring to the fact that 3/5 of the women in the pic are British. Again, nowhere did I state that those 2 women are British, or even that all of them were British, just that starring women in the SW universe are likely to be British based on the fact that 3/5 of them are. The word "likely" here is very important to understanding what I was saying at the beginning and why the response to it was flawed.

And you can keep your shovel.
