Bungie Announces Destiny 2 Iron Banner / Prestige Raid / Seasons Reveal

The armor looks super sick, really wish they changed up Iron Banner in some interesting way though, like with Trials.

Release it as a new kind of game mode or something man...

Lets look at the bright side regarding no Power Levels for Iron Banner.

You get to curbstomp casual players thanks to you being conditioned to be sweaty for D1 Iron Banner.

You still get to meet your sweaty opponents who are also conditioned for D1 Iron Banner for a challenge.

Seriously you guys are overreacting regarding no power levels. In the end you still gonna vs players who are more or less the same power level as you to the point it's no longer special. How fucking often you ever run into someone who is waaaaaay unleveled for IB in D1?

I think the point is that if there's literally nothing special about it anymore, no matter how miniscule, why even include it as an event?

armor looks awesome. Everything else is a disappointment. Frankly now that the honey moon period is over its quite clear bungie either still doesn't know what theyre doing with this game or theyre just happy riding it out with the bare minimum. If IB isn't based on level what is even the point?

Honestly even that didn't matter. It's better this way. The issue is that it's all focused on easy to replicate PVP events that are just grind rep for set rewards. Hardly a reason to come back to the game, at least not for me.

It would be cool if there is special Crucible modifier active (maybe faster ability cooldown, or more frequent Power ammo, etc, etc) for IB.

I'm the opposite. I'm more interested in having content than the reward for it.

I hope that is sarcastic. Everybody hates supremacy in D2. Supremacy doesn't work well with 4v4 & slow pace ttk.

Neither does Control. I don't like either mode though, but would pick Supremacy every time if given the choice. It at it's very worse still doesn't have you spawning with the other team all the time.

I'd take Clash a million times over both. And if Mayhem ever makes it over I might actually play PvP outside of Milestones and events (Trials, Iron Banner or whatever else might come)

Will we able to find better loot outside of the raid or will you only be gettin 305+ in the prestige raid?

Also, this better be different and not just harder enemies.

i wonder what will be the new max LL ?? i'm guessing 320, but will the Prestige Raid be the only way to level up above 305 ? i hope not

Prestige Raid isn't increasing the max LL for some stupid ass reason.

There's like no reason to do the Prestige Raid going off the rewards imo.

Do you play Destiny to collect things and turn the game off? If so, you're playing the wrong game. Destiny is a shooter with loot - not a loot game with shooting.

A whole lot of people play these games because of the loot. If there is no new loot nor higher level cap, thank you very much, Bungie.

Feels more and more like people want to just collect things. Lmao. It’s a crazy obsession rather than just playing the game.

As for no power levels. Again seems like people just want artificial ways to feel superior in the game vs asking for a game where everyone can play pretty much how they want loadout wise.

Millions play the game for the loot. You hear and see it everyday. And I say they are the majority.

There are new cosmetics with the prestige mode. Also, most people haven't even hit 300. Why would they raise the cap??? It's completely nonsensical.

This gotta be the dumbest comment in this thread.

Dont reply to me with this bullshit >_>

How is it dumb? The best part of Destiny is when I have every weapon/armor and can just enjoy it. Destiny is NOT a loot game.

With Destiny 2, all of the snowflakes are melting and I love it. No one should have to invest 12 hours a day into Destiny to get everything.

That's not what Bungie wants.

If the shooting was shit, no one would play. People want to have the cool guns to play with. Not to just collect and shut the game off.

I heard this a lot in Y1: "Yes! I got the Gjallarhorn, now I can stop playing."

That's what his comment read like.

That is the best part to you, emphasis on that. To me and my friends I play the game fir that carrot on the stick that keeps me coming back for more. Thats why I sunk so many hours into Destiny 1 because of the amount of things you could do and the reward that comes from it. Thats why I also love Warframe, so many things to do and things to collect. Thats just how I enjoy a good majority of my gaming now.

The activities are fine for the most part but if there is no reward at the end of the road I have no desire really to play. Which is why I'm really dissapointed in the Prestige Raid. No Light increase, no major mechanical differences and no difference in the rewards in terms of perks and even visual differences really.

hahahaa wtf is this event? D1 used to have mechanical changes, shaders, emblems, weapons etc, it clearly was an event and this is just a reskin of normal pvp?

Bungie has to have sth big going on for this barebones post launch support and i hope it´s not the next dlc that includes no raid.

That's not even remotely true unless you have hard evidence of that. Lmao.

Any Destiny/Destiny 2 screenshot I see on social media isn't "wow look at this shootbang action"

it's always "WOW LOOK AT THIS COOL ASS EXOTIC I GOT"

however, just because people play this game for the loot doesn't make it a good loot game.

Exactly. This is a game to show off and see numbers get bigger - simple as that. And the shooting is great.

Man people keep using this carrot on a stick metaphor and ever time I hear it I really wonder are you looking for a game to be a drug to you and be addicted to it? Like why would anyone want to be manipulated in that way with some illusion that you MIGHT get what you want but many times you will spend hours not getting it just like how casinos hook people into gambling.

Like you want a gambling simulator or something keep playing spinning a wheel and try your luck. I just don’t understand why anyone would want a game to be like this. I honestly do not see that is even remotely healthy.

I now see why free to play games like warframe gets people.

THIS GAME ISN'T FOR YOU.

It's a shooter, not a slot machine simulator. Play Warframe then. Destiny 2 respects our time and that's how it should be.

What the hell else is there to do when you finished the content? Unless you're really into the PvP, chasing loot is the only hook of the endgame.

People want to invest time into something to get rewarded, simple as that. D2 doesn’t serve that purpose at all, it’s the complete opposite of D1, where there was a ton of grind to get the best perks on a weapon. That’s no longer the case in D2, which is one of the reasons I dropped it. There’s just no reason to really do anything, especially not when the new “content” is just the same crucible with different rewards.

Warframe gets the people it has because it’s, from what I understand, fun to play and there’s always something there to keep you playing, such as wanting to craft new weapons or frames, as they add a lot of variety in playstyles.

D2 went way too far in the catering to casuals who only play 3 hours a week design.

I find it odd that people say they don't play Destiny for the loot when all they look forward to every week is doing the raid 3 times and then complaining when they don't get good drops.

Most people haven’t even finished the content. Other than the people who have been obsessive over the game. I have tons of people not even close to 305 yet still playing. Shit I haven’t even touched the raid yet my damn self.

Finally, the ability to play a specific pvp mode I want to play! Really hope they give us back the option to select game mode for pvp and get rid of the playlist stuff, but I’ll settle for iron banner control I guess.

There are way more people who have less time to play games than you think and being able to play when you want is a great thing. Also I don’t understand why some of you have this thing against “casual” players. Like is is a superiority thing? Because a lot of the complaints on the game seems to be like you want to feel like you are superior to others in the game rather than it being a community of people playing together.

Destiny respects people’s time and way less frustration and many clear paths to get what you want. I just don’t understand the slot machine mentality and/or the want for everyone to use just OP guns and abilities vs a balanced game.

I have yet to have a explanation that isn’t just steeped in some sort of hardcore gamer elitism that frankly is pretty toxic to games overall.

Am I saying D2 is perfect no. But many arguments all stem from people who clearly have a lot of time on their hands vs a vast majority of people and/or are looking for games to give them some kind of feeling of superiority over the community based on what drops they get vs their overall skills in the game itself.

A gambling simulator that has high quality music, art, fun mechanics, smart ui etc.

Games offer something different than any other medium: you can immerse yourself in another world unlike anywhere else and this just has been softened through the lack of content and smart RNG as RNG can actually be fun.

It´s also about identification. I jubiliated when finally got a shotgun with my desired perks on it, so i can optimize my gamestyle.
Overdelivering is actually appreciated by dedicated players and Bungie (Activision) decided that it has to become more barebones.

Weird that they don't give it a power level advantage, I mean it's pretty easy to level up. I've done 2 Nightfalls, no Raid and play, on average, an hour or two a day at most (and not everyday), I'm already Power level 300. Not sure why they couldn't keep some minimum power level at 270 or something, most people have to be beyond that by now.
I personally am, at best, mediocre in PvP, I'm not a big fan. However, I appreciated the difficulty of IB in D1. Having the bounties to complete, and getting the 10 kill streak done, it felt good. Sometimes I couldn't get it done, other times I could. It's end game stuff, so make it for end game players?
Seems odd, since I believe most people would be able to hit a minimum Power level to complete.
Also I miss 6v6 and the fast movement.

Well I love the casino too so maybe I do have a problem idk. Dont spend money on microtransactions tho.

Seriously though now for me getting loot is my feel for progressing and if meaningful loot isnt in the game then I dont feel like im progressing and it makes me want to drop a game. Thats just how I am as a gamer. I still love traditional games (love the hell out of cuphead) but when a game markets itself as a looter shooter which Destiny has marketed itself as I wanna sink 100+ hours into it and earn a lot of loot.
