It’s actually nice to see Bungie get screwed since they have been screwing over publishers for years. Not a fan of the studio.

Sony must be a much harder taskmaster than Activision and Microsoft. I guess Sony was willing to go all in on the stare down contest. It will be interesting to see where Bungie is in 5 years.

Sony literally called the bungie acquisition a failed investment. I hope they can turn things around.
They never did, Totoki said "room for improvement from a business perspective". Not that it was a failed investment, ultimately Sony would prefer that they got total control of them. That's why they had that financial clause in the contract, this is probably ideal for them internally.

"Only". So given what I said and what you replied with, I'm assuming firing staff is only bad when Microsoft does it, per you?

Correct, since MS is already shitty and they have done nothing in these 5 years almost to make something interesting out of their consoles.

I can understand their anger.

My experience with CEOs when it comes to layoffs are they are the biggets assholes you'll come across. Especially the American ones I worked under.

Literally no idea how to deal with people.

Oh dude. For sure. I've had the misfortune of dealing with several CEOs here in the States. Not directly working with them, but meeting them and discussing things. Absolute. Fucking. Sociopaths. Not one of them should have been classified as human.

They should have just closed firewalk. Same amount of people employed and they've done zip.

At least bungie had a hit with the last expansion.

People should stay away from social media when they have such strong emotions.
This post will hurt her career ten times more than the firing.

This. I have no idea why people this day and age want run to social media for everything. I get the frustration, and this is a big deal, but her tweet wont do anything but hurt her. When you make tweets like this, it almost gives some credit to the "do not work with" listing.
Also, she'll probably get some extra hate just for that profile pic alone.

Bungie still owe me for deleting content from the game that I paid for so fuck them. Destiny has been a piece of shit for years and The Final Shape was so boring and soulless that I repeatedly fell asleep trying to get through the campaign. Plus, there's stuff like The First Descendent now that does the Destiny formula better, and with hot women instead of genderfluid pansexual transgender otherkin with dyed shaved side cuts.

Bro has pretty good taste. That 71 porsche is tight and so is the Corvette.

Totally. BUngie got bought out for $3.5B, with a chunk to retention of employees.

But if I took a wild guess (maybe proof is out there what reality is), I'll estimate he made at least a couple hundred million off the deal.

CEO life seems hilarious. Just sit in on meetings and spout buzzwords about growth and DEI. Adorn your social media accounts with rainbow flags, pronouns, and empty platitudes like “be kind and courageous”. Spend millions and millions on classic cars and show them off to your grunt employees by force. Then when it’s time to get down to business you just ruthlessly lay people off over and over then hope for the best rather than actually changing anything at your failing company.

Jesus Christ. Also not lost on me the CEO who has guided them into mass layoff after mass layoff gets to retain his job. Fire his bum ass and maybe they wouldn’t have to let go of so many people.
Or maybe they were too bloated to begin with?

Business is business but at least be chill being a head honcho. Hilarious that the guy brags about all the cars he has. Typically, most CEOs are pretty humble and secretive because they dont want to remind people they already make big money (esp. when it's public knowledge as a high level exec in financial and insider trading reports), and their car in the parking lot is probably one of the better ones. The people who brag on social media are celebrity types or athletes who like showing everyone their mansion or cars.

I'm talking about Xbox fanboys like this. And yes, vixolus is a MASSIVE Xbox fanboy; they were in the ABK thread doing nothing but cheerleading the acquisition almost 24/7. Leave it to someone like this to stealth console-war in a layoffs thread; plenty of companies are hiring, why did vixolus specifically mention Microsoft?

You know, the Microsoft that closed down Tango Gameworks, their only Japanese internal development studio? That closed down Arkane Austin? Fired thousands from gaming side across Xbox, Zenimax and ABK over the past two years? You think these Bungie employees are going to feel comfortable going to a company like Microsoft? Did you even think before posting vixolus, or were you just itching that badly to cap for a company second only to Embracer for worst amount of gaming layoffs so far this decade?

Idiot...

Sony finally stepping in and taking over?

Might actually be good news, especially seeing that leadership also is seeing some changes.
Bungie has been messing up since development of the original Destiny. About time things get shaken up over there.
Bungie have been messing up development timelines since Halo CE. That took what, 7 years?
Halo 2 didn't even work on the xbox, and with 6 months to go they cobbled it together from the assets they had made and stripped out the lighting engine and shipped without the actual final level!
