FAQ

What is the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta?
The Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta is your chance to test and experience Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer gameplay prior to launch. The Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta represents a portion of the game while it is still in development, meaning that by playing, you are actively helping the developers to identify and fix issues for a smoother Day 1 launch. The Beta is not a full version of the game, as it represents a mere fraction of the overall multiplayer experience. Specific details of what will be included in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta will be released over the coming week.

How do I participate in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta?
To lock in your immediate access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta, you must have a beta access code. The easiest way to get a beta access code is to pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC from a participating retailer, or to pre-purchase the game through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store, or Steam.

Each retailer will have a limited supply of Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta codes, and will be available while quantities last. You can pre-order online and find information about participating retailers by visiting https://www.callofduty.com/blackops3/buy.

Which console platforms will support the Beta?
The Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta will only be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

When is the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta?
PlayStation 4 owners get access to the multiplayer beta first starting on Wednesday, August 19 and will continue through Sunday, August 23. The following week on Wednesday, August 26 the beta will make its debut on Xbox One and PC and run through Sunday, August 30.

Where do I redeem my Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta code?
Head over to https://www.callofduty.com/blackops3/beta and follow the instructions on the page to reserve your spot in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta.

You will be required to log in with a Call of Duty account and enter your Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta code. If you do not have a Call of Duty account, you can create a free one. After creating your free account, you will be sent an account verification email to the address you provide.

What’s the difference between my Beta code that I received and my Beta token?
Your pre-order Beta code reserved your spot for the Beta and is redeemed at https://www.callofduty.com/blackops3/beta. Once you have registered, a Beta token will be emailed to you on a rolling basis beginning at 12:00 AM PST on August 19th for PS4 users and on a rolling basis at 12:00 AM PST on August 26th for Xbox One and PC users. This Beta token will allow you to download the Beta from the platform you have designated in the registration process."

I’ve pre-purchased my copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops III through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store, or Steam, but I didn't receive a Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta code. Where can I locate my code?
You don't need one! Code redemption is not necessary for pre-purchases through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store, or Steam. You are automatically validated to participate in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta. When the Beta has opened, you will be able to download it immediately.

I’ve pre-ordered my copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops III through a participating retailer. Where can I locate my Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta code?
In most cases, the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Beta code will be printed on the retail receipt or sent to you via email on an online receipt. If you did not receive a beta code or can’t locate it, please contact your retailer.

I entered my Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta code, but it didn’t work. What should I do?

How big is the Beta file?
To make the Beta a fun and valuable experience, we’ve packed it with a lot of content. Therefore, the file is approximately 15 GB and download times will vary based on location, server traffic, and connection speed.

Will my progress from the Beta carry over to retail?
No, progress will not carry over from the Beta. Our focus is making the final game the best and most stable experience it can be and we will be working on balancing and other fixes leading up to launch.

What about Campaign or Zombies, will that be available in the Beta also?
No, the Black Ops III Beta is specifically focused on multiplayer.

Is the Beta available worldwide?
Availability of the Black Ops III Beta will vary by territory.

Any way to get in without pre-ordering?

I am assuming that the same strategy that a ton of people did to get into the Destiny and SFV betas will work here - preorder on Amazon, get your code, and then cancel. Amazon doesn't charge until something ships so there's no risk.

15 gb huh
That's huge but packed with lots of stuff I guess

Stupid question but is streaming blocked on consoles or they don't care?

I'm ready :D

There was a Reddit thread where someone posted 1000 Beta Keys which ALOT of people claimed, and the rest were picked up by bots via Pastebin. Best bet would be to Pre-order via Amazon, get the code, then cancel pre-order. You won't be charged until few days OR on release date.

Eh, feel uneasy about that. Would like to get in legit without messing Amazon about.

Ah, so, they're going to extend the beta an extra day, then, right?

I mean, christ, who knows when PSN will actually upload the thing to servers, and, then we still have to download it. No pre-loading is super lame in this situation.

Does bestbuy send the code for the beta after you place the order? I'd rather order from bestbuy than amazon.

no....you really don't

BestBuy didn't even give me mine till I asked forum support. Great support and friendly support, but it took a bit since I never got it after the order.....after waiting a week.

everyone prepare for PS4 servers to die btw.......or go insanely slow

I find the mix of super abilities and killstreaks very odd and I wonder how overwhelming it will be.

Also, stuff like invisibility, one hit kills, and that respawn-where-you-died ability sound like they will frustrate a lot of players

It just seems like a weird mix of ideas to me, but I'm curious to read GAF impressions

If you get frustrated by cheap, fast kills when you spawn or soon-after, COD isn't really for you. I found to enjoy it best if I stopped giving a rat's ass about when and why I died. Just mash respawn button and run around shooting everything that moves.

You should add that Spectre and Reaper won't be available right when the beta starts. They'll be added after a few days.

I will, thanks! :)

What is the perks list for this?

I'm going to add it, just wanted to get the thread started!

Gonna add this.

I haven't received any emails after putting my code in the site... I hope I don't get fucked over. Tried again and it says code is invalid now.

I have a PS4 key, but I'm still waiting on a PC key. I pre-ordered from Amazon a few days ago but nothing yet.

Neither did I a month or two ago. However, I looked it up on the COD forums and found this:

Hey there. If you entered the code and got a "success" message, you're good to go. For more information on how the Beta works, head over to:

Hope this helps.

Just hit them up on the online chat. It says within 48 hours to receive the code. When that was up with no code for me, I contacted them on the chat and I got the code then and there when chatting with an Amazon rep.

Will cancel my pre-order when beta is over ;)

So with the classes we cant pick what weapons we want anymore? everything is pre-made? i am not understand it.

You can still select your loadout. The difference is that each Specialist has an ability and weapon that are exclusive to them. You select whether you want their ability or their weapon. Whenever you fill up your special meter you hit L1+R1 to activate it.

classes just include a special ability and super move like destiny.....you still pick killstreaks, perks, weapons and stuff. Just that some perks are now special abilities to even the playing field.
