Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare |OT| Space Ghosts

Not talking about the quality of the campaign at all, simply about the playtime because it's easily quantifiable. I just checked my footage to get some numers:

It took me 7h10m to play through IW. 2h were spent on side missions and I'd guess about 30 minutes walking around the ship, listening to audio diaries, watching news reels etc.
Compared to that, it took me 6 h to play through TF2 without any filler or side content.

In IW's case there are not enough people yet, but with TF2 we can easly see that 5h40 to 6h is the average playtime of the campaign.

Even if you rushed it would take you on average 4 1/2 hours to beat TF2. Compare that to IW, where, if you rushed and ignored all side content, you would take around...4 1/2 to 5 hours.

Shrug. I can't tell if you work for them or not but one more reminder. They asked what we thought which INCLUDES OUR experiences and ideas which I gave. They didn't say "I have nothing else to do can YOU search a website that is entered by hand for me" This is...so freakishly defensive it feels uncomfortable now.

Since your ignoring anyone else's opinions and our reported times.. I will just say. Whatever you say is right and you can pretend the times are whatever you want.

This escape the ship sequence with the timer is some complete bullshit, I'm taking a break but I'm probably done with this game.

There is zero filler in TF2's campaign.

And again: CoD: IW is, at most, 1 hour longer than TF2 with quite a bit of repeated content and side missions taking about 2 hours of that time. I really don't think what you're saying is accurate at all here.

the beginning kind of felt like filler. thank god the game picked up after the first boss.

Ya I know a ton of folks who had issue with that. Are you just dying prior or having some issue there?

Fuck. I am sitting here trying to debate buying this or Titanfall 2 as a campaign player...
What do you like about the campaign?

If you're more into the gameplay side, I would go Titanfall. Game has some really cool ideas mechanically.

If you're more into the writing side, Call of Duty. All of the characters are written really well, and the actors give great performances.

If length is your value concern, I spent around the same time playing through both campaigns. I did not do most of the side missions in COD though since I was not having any fun with them.

Ya there were some repetitive parts but most of it faded a bit to the background after that.

Ethan just worked. So did some of the other more spoilery characters

Domination and kill confirmed are unplayable. Maps are too small.
Defender and frontline are amazing.
ctf is cool too.

Ethan was a pretty refreshing robot character since he just talked and acted like a regular person, who very rarely reminded you that he was a robot. I thought that was super cool.

I'm dying in the hangar. On the left is an invulnerable mech (a caption literally appears to inform you that the mech is invulnerable when you try to shoot it) and on the right are a bunch of dudes and combat droids. I simply can't advance quickly enough to beat the timer (when the doors to the hangar open I think I have 1:25 remaining.)

If I'm methodical I run out of time. If I rush I get murdered. What makes it worse is that my AI teammates keep pushing me out of cover (probably my biggest pet peeve in video games) and there is so much clutter that the hit indicators make things almost impossible to see.

I haven't been "throw my controller" mad at a video game in years but I came so close.

I've already lowered the difficulty from Veteran to Hardened. Normal is too easy so I don't want to lower it again. So I'm stuck and annoyed, LOL.

Dude the first part when they take off in the jet and the leader says something like "I don't need your help" when Ethan offers him a hand and the subtle way the robot removes the assisted help. I was just sitting there going ohhh shit thats cool. And I love that he joked enough he had to be told to stow it many times.

I can only say your not alone. AI teammates pushing seems to happen so fucking much and does happen here. Have you tried sprinting past on the left past the mech because its turn speed is slower and outrunning it. That's not how I got through but it might work?>

I might just redo the whole level and go into that last bit with shock grenades. Right now I have anti-gravity grenades and they're not very good for this timed sequence.

Titanfall 2 if you like fast paced shooter gameplay above story\characters\setpieces\graphics

CoD IW if you like the opposite, but with stop and pop shooter gameplay and the ability to explore a moderately interactive spaceship

Ive completed Titanfall 2 and thought the campaign was meh. Im a few hours into CoD IW and I am quite enjoying the campaign...characters\graphics\story presentation are solid so far. Plus I really like the downtime in between missions.

This is coming from someone who normally rolls thier eyes at CoD campaigns...although the only ones Ive played are MW, AW, Blops 1, and Ghosts.

Some late game spoilers, but
how good is that moment when Ethan ejects you out of your spaceship, and you just stare at him for a couple of minutes, floating in space, talking about things?

Honestly might be my favorite COD moment, taking the place of COD4's Nuke scene. For a Call of Duty game that completely took me by surprise.

This multiplayer actually isn't that bad. I like the frontline mode that removes a lot of the spawning related issues these games always have.

I'll be playing titanfall 2 and battlefield for the most part but this is ok.

Spawns in this game are a complete joke.

Maybe its just an issue with TDM(can barely find a match in another game type in Australia atm) but I swear maybe 1 in 10 deaths isn't from the back with zero chance to react.

I never expected to enjoy the campaign as much as I do. Granted, I'm not that far in, just did a few main missions and a few side missions, but I like it a lot. Also at times it can look quite stunning.

I wonder what made all the publishers of the three biggest shooters this year sink more resources into their campaigns. There was a time I thought we'd be moving from shooter campaigns all together. An excellent call of duty and Titan fall campaign, plus a good Battlefield campaign were not things I was expecting. Very happy

Try frontline. You spawn in a protected area the same every time and you take like half damage while inside your team's "base".

Enemies that enter the "base" are highlighted and die easily.

I love this game. The more I learn about the maps, the better they feel. The weapons are great and varied. And the player models/rigs are well designed.

Actually, I'm pretty sure you're completely invincible for a set duration. It's only if you linger in the base for too long or if you leave and return that the bonus disappears.

Hey for those playing the campaign on Xbox 1, how is the framerate overall? Trying to figure whether I want it on PS4 or XB1, just bought an elite controller recently so been wanting to use it alot. No digital foundry article yet :(

Oh that would make sense. Either way its something call of duty has needed to implement. A safe zone for spawns.

The DCM-8 is still so redundant. It's a weaker Reaver. And you don't have to hammer the trigger/bumper, I guess. Pretty sure it's energy weapon benefits are slim to none too. I don't think its shots reflect (doesn't have Ram Servo as an attachment) and the recharge rate on it's bullets is the speed of a sniper. On a gun that takes 3-4 shots (1/4th and 1/3rd of it's clip) to kill someone.

Kendall-44 (ballistic semi-auto handgun) seems redundant too. Seems like a worse EMC. Doesn't have a 3HK range from what I can tell, even at point blank. Supposedly shoots faster, but you'd be hard-pressed to notice the difference. Only benefit I can see is being able to equip extended mags. Oh, and I guess it's bullets can penetrate, but then you'd have to shoot someone like 10 times.

And they nerfed the P-Law's scorestreak destroying capabilities. I get that maybe it's a little much to blow up a warden with only three blasts, but you should be able to take out UAVs and Counter UAVs with just one. It takes skill to hit those. And there's no way to replenish ammo without dying, so you have enough ammo to take out one and a half UAVs, and that's about it.

Ya know...I think I may give it a shot just for SP and Zombies.

Zombies is good, no?

Haven't played ZiS too much, but it seems pretty cool. A lot friendlier to newcomers. Frequently hilarious too (I can't get over the nerd slap killing zombies). Familiar but distinct compared to Treyarch's last effort.

probably helps that cod is done by three studios now.

I never play Zombies really, but this ones setting and music seems to be great. Also, it's not fucking insane regarding Easter eggs lol

Yes! Hilarious.

Made a gif of it:

Black Hole generator seems like trash now. I remember people were freaking out about it in early footage. I don't see what it does that a regular grenade behind cover wouldn't do better. Weak pull, lasts like 4 seconds, takes too long to open up... useless. Maybe it's one of those equipment pieces that's better for objective game-modes. I guess it wouldn't be countered by flak jacket...

also when they talk about friends right then and fear. Pretty fucking epic

Good a couple chops though for sure sadly.
I tested on a Xbox 1, Xbox S, both with internal, 7200rpm hybrid, and SSD installs and loads. The harddrives didn't make much of a dif nor the S on loading or FPS.

I just spent some time playing titanfall this evening and decided to try IW multi. How the fuck can people play this. You take two steps and your dead. There's no flow cause ya can't do anything. Then there's the movement that's so slow and clunky. It's so far off from what they did with Modern Warfare. ugh.

maybe try playing more than one round and you'll get the hang of it.

I played some of the multiplayer and it is abysmal. I can't believe that it's so derivative of Black Ops 3 and is somehow so much worse. It's actually really impressive.

Some design decisions seem at complete odds with one another, such as how slow the health regeneration is for such a fast paced game.

It is pretty bad. They've made a game combining small maps with tight hallways, unlimited sprint, multiple entry points for every area, and low TTK. Those things just don't go together and the spawns make it that much worse. I often find myself coming up behind a player who's in turn also coming up behind a player. It's probably the least intuitive map flow I've seen in the series yet.

You have to imagine they play test the crap out of every cod but this one makes you wonder.

Is the entire Zombies mode still built around finding easter eggs / doing really obscure things to progress?

you gotta restore power to the area!!

..and then run around aimlessly until you die.

I don't know if it's that I skipped blops3 but I'm enjoying this mp. It's not as good as Titanfall2 but I think it's alright

you skipped BLOPs 3.. it's the best multiplayer compared to Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, and Infinite Warfare.

Jeez, campaign stuff

Since the guy have the same rank as her partner why they officers dindt ask her to be the capitain?

I mean that was a wasted opportunity to use the a woman prot in a "are you a boy or a girl" rpg choice
