Ok so I use OpenEmu and it's got a lot of weird filters, but I think these ones gave me the most positively interesting results.
First is "SABR", which I personally don't know what the letters stand for.
The pixels get "averaged" and smoothed together creating kind of a mess, in my opinion, but in motion it looks kinda good, and better in a pre-rendered game like
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Next one is "LCD3x", which in other words it imitates
Trinitron technology.
I dig the way the colors are channeled, but unfortunately it loses some brightness in the process.
And the last one is "CRT", which is pretty self explanatory.
The image is distorted in a fish-eye lens effect and got some scanlines applied giving it the illusion of having the real deal popping out of your screen. It also has a cheesy black frame getting along the curved surface of these TVs.
Personal conclusion: Better get an actual SNES and hook the sucker to a good CRT TV. You may find a cheap one in Goodwill or rush through the dumpsters where college students are moving out because these punks throw away a lot of actually useful objects.
It's kind of a cliché answer but for better results you can also adjust the video settings of the TV for further preferences like color saturation and contrast; not to mention CRT TVs have varying results on the desired effects.
