Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
On April 10 Nintendo of Canada will launch the Super Mario series Mario amiibo—Gold Edition figure, a shiny, gold-coloured Mario figure that will be available at retailers across Canada at a suggested retail price of $15.99.

After careful review, Nintendo of Canada Ltd. will increase the suggested retail price of its amiibo toy-to-life product line beginning April 1, 2015. The MSRP will increase from $13.99 CAD to $15.99 CAD for all amiibo launched in Canada after April 1. The price increase is in direct response to current and future projected exchange rates between Canadian and US dollars. Retailers are free to set their own prices

Canada amiibo went from 13.99$ to 15.99$ - Bless thy Harper

According to FearMyWrench, Nintendo confirms that this affects all new amiibo moving forward and not simply Mario Gold amiibo:

After careful review, Nintendo of Canada Ltd. will increase the suggested retail price of its amiibo toy-to-life product line beginning April 1, 2015. The MSRP will increase from $13.99 CAD to $15.99 CAD for all amiibo launched in Canada after April 1. I can't find this press release or anything anywhere else - might be BS?

No. Various press members received the PR Release from Ninty.

Furthermore, Mario Gold amiibo was available for pre-order on Amazon for a short period of time for a sum of 15.99$.

It's official sadly :'(

Some please explain why we keep blaming Harper for the weak CAD. Last I checked, the dollar was at like 0.60 for years while the Liberals were in charge. If anything we should be blaming Saudi Arabia for predatory pricing.

Mostly blaming them for putting all their CAD eggs in one oily basket.

Welp #$%.

I guess that's it buying Amiibo for me. They where already kind of expensive at the $13.99 price point since by the time you paid tax in Ontario it was $15.81....

$15.99 + tax will be $18.07 so effectively this is a $3 price hike

This will now make them as expensive as the large sized skylanders. At least with those they cost more because they are bigger then the normal sized ones.

Because people have some narrative that Canadian economy is so reliant on oil because of Harper.
When in reality it's not like it was 'diversified' before Harper, nor will it be after Harper.
The CAD was 62 cents US back in 2002 under the Liberals. I remember trying to buy an Xbox 360 at launch in 2005, it was like 499 CAD or some bullshit.
Harper was PM for a year, and the dollar bounced back and reached parity with the USD. Do people really believe that in a single year Harper single handedly made us oil dependent blah blah blah? Those oil fields existed long before Harper, and they only expanded under Harper because coincidentally the price of oil shot way up under Harper. He doesn't really have a ton to do with it.
The 'all our eggs in one basket' people are kind of crazy. Would've been the same under Liberals.

The Liberals dug out us out of that 60'cent hole that Mulroney dumped us in. You know the PM who bailed on his party and left it to Kim Campbell (first woman PM yeah but c'mon) to see the ProCons be destroyed by Chretien. Harper was lucky when he came into power because of Canada not crumbling during the financial crisis (thanks to strict regulations made by Chrétien and Martin, yes Liberals), and Canada becoming a petrostate.

It also doesn't help that Harper picks fights with Putin when you know Russia is one of the bigger buyers of Canadian goods and materials.

Harper is so dead set on turning Canada into America Jr. and hell, he even did asinine and petty things, like changing the name of the Government of Canada to Harper Government, adding blue to many government related imagery because red is too Liberal to him, abandoned our legacy as peacekeepers as we are now a more aggressive hawk state like the US (no offence America bros but it's true), and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
