I underestimated how crazy you people are in terms of being performance-philes.

I am highly anticipating Fallout 4 on console and frankly don't give two shits if it even runs at a stable rate. As long as it RUNS and doesn't like drop down to a frame a second or something. Even if it crashes several times or deletes my save or I die because of a bug or a quest becomes uncompleteable.

Just be excited that there's a new Fallout coming out! Is cancelling your preorder and/or bashing the game because it doesn't run perfectly really justified? There's still an asston of good things about the game.

Please abstain from anything along the lines of, "because it's Bethesda".

Frankly, I don't believe that most are serious.

However, it is not a bad idea to wait a few weeks (or even months) with a purchase of a technically rough game until all the major fuckery has been patched out. Did that with the Witcher 3, and it was a good thing to do. If that means canceling a preorder, then why not.

Even if this were happening to this game or any other, why would you buy that game? lmao

This is pretty much me. Granted Bethesda games are the baseline of what I'm willing to tolerate, they are so fun for me that as long as they run as well as 3/new Vegas it's a buy (and I know that's a low bar). But I'm happy cause from what I've read so far it sounds like they are at least better.

Not everyone can justify technical problems with "Well at least it's another Fallout! Thank you Bethesda may I have another?".

People can enjoy the game (I know I will) and still not be happy with how it runs.

Those people could also just be switching to the PC version which frankly, is what you should be doing if you're one to care about performance in games.

It's fine if you don't care about framerates dropping into inexcusable numbers but don't call others 'crazy' because they do.

Well, for many the impact of poor performance is valued quite highly on their "God Dammit" list. Being frustrated at how poorly a product runs can effectively multiply the frustration from other problems, or just make the experience a lot less interesting.

The performance is part of the experience.

I cancelled my ps4 pretty order Sunday night. Bastards however told me the order was too far along in the process to be cancelled.
So I'll have to return it myself. Minor inconvenience to experience it on the pC though.

Fallout is pretty much my exception to the rule.

I agree with you. Fallout is my ideal open world game.

I'm not even interested in Fallout and grabs rates aren't that concerning to me but I don't I'd want to support the rest of that stuff willingly in any way until its patched. Definitely wouldn't be a day one purchase. To many of these companies get away with releasing half baked to barely defrosted games because people will go on them regardless, which encourages them to make a sequel instead of fixing what's broken on their just released game. Not a good look.

And that's why publishers gets away with this. They can sell shit to people and they're glad about this.

You can't be serious....

There are a lot of issues that more seriously screw over consumers than a freaking framerate setting in games. A 30fps with full content (not saying this game specifically has this) is better than a 60fps game with micros-transactions and locked DLC. Get your priorities straight before you even think about standing up for something.

Beth games are in a weird place to most. Too good to not buy at launch, too glitchy to not get irritated at.

I'm not talking about Bethesda in particular. If a game has bugged quests, deletes your saves or random death because of glitches, why would you even get it? lol

And as far as we know, Fallout 4 doesn't have that so it stand out weirdly to me. Just shitty glitches that have plagued this engine for ages.

Nah I'm serious, because both things are shit.

I'm returning Blops 3 to Walmart and getting this instead. This will be my first fallout. Hopefully Walmart exchanges it.

Honestly, it's not like most people that get the console versions really have a choice anyway.

If you feel like Playing Fallout 4, you're going to play it on the hardware you own, and if the hardware you own doesn't play the game flawlessly, you can either skip the release, or buy another console / a gaming rig. Keep in mind that "bad" console releases often get patches that improve on the issues if the fanbase is vocal enough, so all is not lost either.

That said , cancelling PS4 or Xbox One preorders based on a couple of reported framerate drops seems a little overboard. It's not like the core gameplay is affected that much, and as I said, if it's the only hardware you own and that can run the game, I guess you're stuck with it unless you don't mind skipping the release until a magical post-release patch fixes the issues.

I'm not advocating giving Bethesda a free pass on that one though. Shipping a game in an unfinished state with frame drops should not happen, period. They have fixed hardware to take into account, it's not like they can't take note of everywhere where framerate drops and offer level design solutions to lower polycount/textures to fix these.

Stop having standards, guys! Who cares if it has game breaking bugs?
