They are really rocking in the legs.
That is great.

Sadly the game can't be said about their others releases :(

Well deserved! Loved RE7, loved RE2 remake and loving RE8. Best developer and publisher of the last generation and going into this one already killing it with Rise and RE8. Super stoked for RE9, next MH, and of course the Power Stone Reboot and whatever else they make.

Awesome.

Capcom went from arguably the most reliable developer, NES,SNES,PSX,PS2 to just floundering during the PS3 gen. Not all the games were bad but man, they were chasing the market rather than showing how it should be done. Super glad they turned it around. RE3make was too short but still solid, and if that's their worst output since the PS3, I'm totally OK with that.

"Realize stake growth through extended lifetimes of high-quality titles"

The bolded is why Capcom has been, since I started playing video games long ago, far and away my favorite video game publisher.

Of course they're not anywhere near perfect. But they seem to be the ones that, without fail, cater to my gaming tastes, no matter the genre.

Well-deserved success!

(RE3 with slightly less than half the sales of RE2, ouch 😂. But given the way I wrote my sentence, I think it's true if I wrote that in 1999 and if I wrote it in 2021. Meaning, I think the sales relationship between RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake mirrors the relationship of the sales between the original titles back on PS1....)

RE3 was already a departure from the original games... took them 4 new entries to back to roots again.
I like it very much but RE original and RE2 were vastly superior to RE3.

Only thing will make this better is if Great Ace Attorney also sells well. I love MH series but Ace Attorney by far my favourite Capcom IP.

Amazing, its super cool how Capcom games keep selling and selling years after release.
I have all Resident Evil games released on Switch, as well as others like DMC Capcom catalogue is amazing.

For Resident Evil its good news for horror gamers, while none of the new games have sold as much as 6 or 5(all versions) 4 shorter games made in less time with lower budget still bring much more money and continue to sell getting good reviews and happy fans 👍

And for whats next, new Resident Evil for Switch should bring lots of money when it comes out to all consoles. One day we will see REmake2, REmake3, RE7, DMC V and RE8 on next- gen Switch 2(when the hardware is able to handle pretty 60fps versions of those games). And of course Ray Tracing 4K on PS5/Series

Capcom games have a pretty long life.

I'm really glad that Capcom is doing well. I just wish I could say the same thing with Konami - which happens to be my first favorite company since 80s' 8bit days on MSX.

Capcom have completely turned around since the ps360 days, re8 was excellent and had loads of solid titles last gen.
Sure... But in fairness, they also (for all practical purposes) single-handedly revived 2D fighting games with the Street Fighter IV series.

So, you win some, you lose some (*shrug*). I generally agree with you that, even though I still enjoy most of the PS360 era games, Capcom almost lost their way.

Turned around what?
RE5 and 6 were their best selling titles for a decade until MHW, SFHDRemix and SF4 completely rebooted the fighting game scene as well, megaman 9 and 10 are some of the best megaman games of all time.

The real reason for their success is they stopped trying to make blockbusters and are developing responsibly budgeted games targeted at its core niche audiences.
I agree with part of your statement, but MHW at 17mil could hardly be called niche. Hell, any of those numbers wouldn't qualify as niche.

As a PC gamer, I love how most Capcom games look amazing and run fairly well.

Easy to sell millions of copies when people with older GPUs can still play at decent FPS and settings...unlike Ubisoft games.

Get vaccinated
I remember back in the year-or-so after the PS4 / XBO launched many had written Capcom off as some kind of failed company just waiting to sell itself to the highest bidder. As if they were just sitting on their properties and not working on anything aside from Street Fighter. They closed out the decade real strong while riding that momentum right into the next.

Successful sales aside, you have to give them credit of being on a fucking streak in terms of consistent quality, too.
Even when you are not big fan of specific franchises (i.e. I couldn't give a shit about DMC, for one).

6 was terrible though and felt like a low budget resi game, easily the worst in the series and would have destroyed it if it went down a similar path with 7. I'm not on about sales figures just the quality of there games has gotten much better, they released some big stinkers during the ps360 gen. I never played sf4 or megaman.

Absolute bonkers. They are living their best lives atm. MHW successor will be like GTA launch.

Respect.

RE7's numbers are insane and they've yet to even make 1 fucking remaster of it. Next gen we for sure are seeing that RE7-RE8 combo remaster in 4K, PSVR2, 120 fps lol Legendary sales for the game folks tried to argue was a "flop".

Monster Hunter World at 17 million shows they should have never had that fucking series limited to handheld. Give em a side game, but keep the series AAA for the main games, I understand they wanted that mobile market, but that doesn't mean leaving behind the very fan base that even supported the original. It shows many, many gamers love the concept and would support it on many systems at home vs mobile, so I'm happy they split the series to both can get a Monster Hunter and hype about them doing a next gen one!

One of my favorite games this gen.

Roni Roni Agreed 100%. Them being open to be bought out in 2014 and struggling also helped them to be more conservative like Sega on their releases. I'm bummed that they didn't do much new IP, but I completely understand that they must back established IP with trusted concepts, vs chasing Call Of Duty with budgets or something. That focus helped them greatly this gen.

Reizo Ryuu Reizo Ryuu At what cost? Capcom literally had a fucking RE budget with like 600 developers and acted surprised when they were in financial trouble after, it wasn't that the game didn't sell well, it sold well, but the budget likely didn't cover as much as they thought as you can't be out here trying to have a COD budget, with a RE sales projection, it just doesn't work that way and they really, really tried to put RE in that area.

Soon after, they are out here talking about being open to be bought out so.......yea, it was dark times for them and they needed the change badly, like going UNDER badly.

Don't even get me started on MS, Sony and Nintendo....all at once fucking funding some of their games. You can't make this shit up, at one point all 3 had some deal to help them for an exclusive....

Sony with Street Fighter V (I'm 90% sure they ended up pay for the ports for Revelations 1 or 2 and that Street Fighter IV port on PS Vita)
MS with Dead Rising 4
Nintendo with Monster Hunter

So I get that they had deals before, but shit this was happening all at once RIGHT AFTER they are telling folks they are open for a buy out. So yes, they were in some trouble last gen and really, really needed this gen to be with established IPs, with ESTABLISHED concepts, ie no fucking Call Of Duty or Gears Of War clones simply named Resident Evil lol They just didn't have the budget for those risk and really needed to gain consumer trust. I stopped buying RE after 5 and I had a logical reason why. Putting a fucking game that isn't RE and just slappying on the name won't get me to part with my money when the shit doesn't have limited ammo, weapons, puzzles and all the shit I like from RE.

RE7 is what got me buying the series again cause its ACTUALLY the shit I like from the series, but they really needed that trust cause its easily to just ignore any company that does this shit, its really hard to get consumers to believe you really, really changed or something, but I saw enough that told me this was the old school RE concepts, same with DMC5, Monster Hunter etc. They need that trust by fans that they can do the established stuff with no BS. Some times just doing that can get people to trust the company with those IP again and I feel they did a great job this gen proving that. They took a page out of Sega's book which is what I wanted them to do during the PS3/360 generation.

What happened to Crapcom?

Always said that Capcom were one of the few Japanese developers that got it last gen with a big focus on AAA titles for the main platforms. While so many Japanese developers look for mobile game and Nintendo games
Namco was also great, shame it took SEGA a long time to get it, but at least they now seem to know you need to make AAA games for the games and not just look to Japan or the mobile.
