Capcom announced today that they will exclusively be using New 3DS units for playable demos of Monster Hunter 4G at both TGS and the Monster Hunter Carnival events at Nagoya and Osaka leading up to the launch of the title (and the New 3DS hardware).

All multiplayer demo stations for Monster Hunter 4G at the events will be on New 3DS units, while all singleplayer demo stations will be on New 3DS LL units. They're going all out to showcase both pieces of hardware to fans before the launch. What this means is that the New 3DS will be at TGS, even though Nintendo isn't. Pretty smart partnership move. Clearly motivated by wanting to push as many MH4G New 3DS bundles as possible in October. :p

Pretty good move, yeah. I remember Capcom had some Pro Controller for the 3DS XL, in 2012 (before launch).

MH4 is the reason I'm buying a New 3DS.

Whatever happened to that claim that MH4 could be enhanced while playeing on a New 3ds?

The N3DS is a rocket and MH4G its super fuel - November MCS threads will be interesting to watch.

I wonder if there'll be other games that will be showcased with the new hardware.

They could probably just run at the faster CPU rate to prevent slowdown (or framedrops). I don't think there was much in MH4 so it might not matter much.

Nice, I wasn't sure if they were talking about that on the stream today due to my Japanese "skills", all I got was "new 3DS" and "TGS" lol :p

Excited to get my hands on one in October hopefully.

Square Enix has both Final Fantasy Explorers and Bravely Second playable at TGS, but they haven't said anything about the demo units.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Mmmh...Final Fantasy Explorers is one of the games highlighted in the New 3DS section during the Direct, so I could see Square using New 3DS to promote it. Maybe, Bravely Second as well, despite not being probably a game using the new features. Unless it's one of those title titles with its graphics enhanced on the new device, but I doubt it.

good move, also because I thnk that the mini pad was really studied with this game in mind (as it was for the horrible add-on for the original 3DS, unveiled always aside Capcom's MH, the 3G if I remember correctly).
Question: does the new CPU allows for some sort of enanchement in games available and playable also on the "old" 3ds?

Hope someone does a tear down of the motherboard. Now that the second 'stick' is built in on the board there are options for replacing it with a real stick. Instead of the current infrared connection.

Jealous of folks who are lucky enough to get their hands on one.

Not jealous about them lines tho.

Guess I'll have to upgrade my 3DS XL by the time MH4U comes out. That game was one of the reasons I bought a 3DS in the first place :p

Would love to see a comparison of how it runs/looks on 3DS vs n3DS. MH4U is my justification to get a new 3DS. I'm so excited for it!

Nintendo, just let Capcom design your controller hardware from now on.
The Classic Controller Pro.
The Circle Pad Pro.
And now this...

Just listen to Mohan-san from the get-go.

Pretty good timing to launch the New 3DS as MH4G can be the killer app for the new model, especially since MH4G prospects more or less have a 3DS already. Can be a good reason for MH players to upgrade.

Nintendo has said that it's not coming to N.A this year.

Can't wait to hear how the nub feels and how good the 3d is now. If Nintendo actually manages to fix the 3D I feel like they would have finally made good on the promise of the original 3DS. I know tvs have used the head tracking feature before, but has any handheld device tried to do head tracking+ no glasses 3D?

Hopefully by saying that "the New 3DS won't ship to the US/Europe this year" they mean that it will come out on like January 1st, 2015.

I really want this thing!

The DSi and DSi XL were late March/early April and that's pretty much what I'm expecting here. Early 2015 - just like MH4U.

MH4U is literally the only game that makes me want to get a N3DS (at the moment)

3DS should've had a second stick from the start

I'd love for these systems to come stateside and feature Xenoblade 3D and MH4G as flagship titles.

I think the US release will definitely be out on the same day that MH comes out. I would also be willing to bet there's "enhancements" to it for that new system too.

If anybody at GAF is going, and tries the N3DS - please check whether the hinge is floppy, or the faceplates are shifty/loose ^_^

Also - that sweetspot - does slight movement lose the window (dat face tracking )?

This is actually a genius move, using Japan's weakness for monster hunter to boost the sales for a slightly upgraded handheld.

...I would probably buy one for monster hunter.

Interested in impressions of the tiny nub. Looks weird to use.

I thought the same thing about the Vita's controls. I thought the tiny analog sticks being so close to the rest of the buttons was going to be a huge problem, but I soon learned that you just get used to it. To be completely honest, I think the camera control on these new units will be completely intuitive and seamless.

Why does Nintendo do such a great job with ergonomics with their console hardware, and ignore all of that with their handheld designs? The last comfortable handheld was the original GameBoy Advance. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT CURVES???

I'd like to know too, first time I read about such a feature applied to glassless 3D (not that there are that many offerings). What about the amazon 3D smartphones?

need impressions of that c button thingy

so is Capcom still treating G releases of monster hunter as the main final installments of the games?

Nice move, now Nintendo put Pokemon, and Dragon Quest XI, and the new model will be "default" console and kill all other models.
They could show "how powerful" the new model is, by doing a Street fighter 4 game, in which the backstage are not static.
