Oh no the billion dollar movie that was a worldwide success is not selling well in stores. What will Disney do now???

Seriously though. Nobody buys movies anymore. Everything is streamed now. Moving forward I expect this to be a trend. As streaming services like Disney+ and other become even more prevalent then these kinds of things will just be more and more common regardless of how wildly successful the movie was in theaters. Because it will be on some streaming service somewhere soon. So why buy it for $20 at Wal-Mart when you can spend $15 a month and get that movie as well as an a billion other movies and TV shows and be able to watch it all without ever even needing to get off your couch?

Not sure why this justifies its own thread, guess the hate for Brie is strong in this one.

Blu-ray sales drop after week 1!

Yeah, shocker.

Caught up on Captain Marvel on the plane some weeks back. Was alright, not the best superhero movie, but not the worst either. I wouldn't buy it on BR, but I buy very few movies on BR, like John Wick for example, or Seven Samurai.

Still haven’t seen this movie. It looks so uninteresting I don’t even want to bother pirating it

Would watch Alita again in a heartbeat tho

Years from now a bunch of Marvel stuff will end up on a list like this.

I hardly remember the number 1 movies from last year:

The Meg? The Nun? Night School? A Quiet Place? Rampage?

"Broke"??????

The movie made over a billion dollars lol you think Disney is sweating it's home movie sales? This not even a blip on their radar as they head into Disney plus and future Marvel films.
Check my post on the end of the last page. Captain Marvel is not selling poorly on blu ray. It's the 2nd highest selling blu ray in 2019 after 1 month.

You make the case for the multinational billion dollar corporations continuing stranglehold on the entertainment industries rather well! Bonus points for using the bugman's favourite reason for adopting digital media over physical - avoidance of pesky manual labour intensive disc practices.

Indeed, why would anyone want ownership and control over a permanent library of hand selected content, when they can pay a monthly fee to have a corporation curate the content available to them, not ever have to "own" anything, and make minimal body movements? (bugman's favourite reason for digital over physical media #2 - space is at a premium in their one bedroom, and discs are just like bad for the environment anyway!)

Movie was god awful. I don't fall asleep during movies but my whole family did during this one. Couldn't even tell you the ending outside of the end credits where I woke up.

Unfortunately, no one is reading it.

Your post shows the numbers and sources and even though you went the extra mile to compare Captain Marvel's sales to other recent superhero comic book movies to show that it's sales are fine and in-line with it's contemporaries people are not reading it because they don't want to read it.

The article in the OP is full of shit but it gave people an opportunity to dump on Captain Marvel and Brie Larson and for that they will remain willfully ignorant.

People that were going to buy it already did, otherwise they will wait till its on sale BlackFriday and get it.

For me Captain Marvels character is dry and boring. Only emphasized more from Endgame, i definitely wouldn't rush right out to by that UHD disk

Fuck, I thought we were done with Captain Marvel threads.
Wherever there is injustice, you will find us.
Wherever there is suffering, we'll be there!
Wherever liberty is threatened! You will find...

More like mouth agape in awe that pure trash like CM can actually make money but keep trying.
