Isn’t that EXACTLY why it’s fine to change it?No, but that won’t stop them from changing it.

Doubt it.I don't see anything wrong with this. I'm sure it will be better than the 2013 movie.
Doubt it.
And why do you think this would be any better? I'm sure it'll be on the same level as the Carrie tv movie or Carrie 2.Did you see the 2013 movie? It was abysmal as was the remake of Pet Semetary.
The only decent Stephen King remake films were It and It 2.

I'm taking a wild guess: all the people being mean to Carrie will be whiter than snow.
And so what?
Or... They could also have other black folks bully the black girl. It happens. Especially if she's either light or dark skinned.
How does it feel to know that everybody just assumes that the only qualification you have for your job is the color of your skin? It would eat me alive.
Yeah we all know rich kids can't be bullied and/or have abusive parents. So? This story is flexible for any demographic of people so long as they ain’t rich
In my opinion, that's a slippery slope. The goal is not to avoid pandering, because doing so is "making a statement." It's purely reactionary. No because it’s pandering to a cause that is already overblown as it is.
Connor better watch his backRedhead holocaust

You've said it yourself, there's not much more they can do with it now so let's just leave that alone as it is and try something entirely new with whatever they want as characters.
No it absolutely wouldn't since the sexual preferences of a person or the skin color doesn't mean anything. It only means something for people who actually want to shove this in people's throats and think they're being inclusive just because they casted a POC or non heterosexual in a TV show or movie. It means shit. No, he said there isn't much more that can be done with the established material. Having the main character be a poc or transgendered would obviously open a massive door of storytelling possibilities.

And no, there isn't much more that can be done with it at all. Let them create something new, this has been overdone already
It's not the fact that the new Carrie will be played by a black or trans girl, it's the fact it has to be stated... Who cares? And why set those parameters? Why not get the best girls for the role instead of saying they HAVE to be either this or that?
Have you ever read the book? Or at the very least seen the movie? Carrie's telekinetic powers weren't brought on by her mother's religious upbringing, or by her constant tormenting from her peers. In the previous established works the how and why of her powers were left intentionally vague. The details weren't important to the story being told. What is known is that having her first menstruation appears to "awaken" the dormant powers she has had since being a child. The nasty shit happening to her eventually making her snap and those once dormant powers are brought to the forefront and we all know what happens.
Other than the menstruation bit (which there could be any other number of catalysts written in its place) the story is completely open to any other types of interpretation. The core of the story is the isolation, abuse and misunderstanding of the central character. Which, once again, could easily be grafted onto the experiences poc face, or someone who is transgendered. Or any other number of similar scenarios.
You'd have to be acting purposely obtuse to not see how there could be a different take on the story. Honestly, it is quite cringey and pathetic to see so many people get immediately bent out of shape the moment they hear "poc" or "trans". You just end up coming across as someone who is incredibly close minded over something so frivolous as a movie.

Since you’re so familiar with the source material, please explain to me how they will do the first period scene with a trans actor.
Urine, lot's of it

I mean, I already explained it in my previous message. The first menstruation was the catalyst in the previous movies and book and made sense in that thematic atmosphere. But that doesn't mean it is the end all of catalysts. Obviously if the new movie involves a trans person something new would have to devised but hinging an entire argument of "this shouldn't exist because how is a transwoman going to menstruate?!" is kind of silly don't you think?
