Castlevania Lords Of Shadows appears on Steam Registry

Hell, I'd say it's worth buying for everything from landing in the mountains up through the snowy village and vampire castle, which is a huge chunk of game time right there.
The early bits in the swamplands do seem a bit slow, though, with more cliche monsters (trolls, giant spiders, etc).
You're forgetting the most important one
I never understood why people didn't like the first chapter. So many great setpiece environments and no single part of it is longer than about 5 minutes or so.
The second chapter on the other hand is way too long... they should've cut about half of it (keep the waterfalls of agharta... that place looked great, cut the spider caves and some parts of that aztec city).
As for the cliche enemies in those chapters: since the very first Castlevania game we fight creatures such as zombies, skeletons, mummies, medusas, death and frankenstein.
I loved the demo and that was beginning, except for framerate of course. I hope for 30$ release

I forgot where I read it, that mentioned the game felt like it was 6 hours of content streeeeeeeetched out to 3x that, but it really stuck with me about Lords of Shadow.
There's a great game in there, but there's so much fat and filler, you'd be hard pressed to find it. Sooo many boring sections, especially in the beginning. It doesn't really get fun until you get the Light/Dark combat system going. Hopefully you start with that shit in LoS2.
OK, lemme put it this way: The first part in the woodlands/swamplands/ruins feels more "Lord of the Rings"-esque than the classic horror movie feel Castlevania usually has. But that's fine, especially since all of them horror feels come back in full force once the game gets to the mountains/snowy village/vampire castle. And then the last act goes to some TRULY bizarre places, which is great.
The only filler sections are the second and maybe third chapter. As I said above: they should've cut some stuff there but everything else? Nope, wouldn't want to miss out on any of it.
And hopefully you don't start with light/dark magic in LoS2. I want some sense of skill progression in the game. Some people apparently don't understand that concept. Everytime I hear stuff like "Ughh, Samus starts again without her abilities in this Metroid game? Lame!", I want to punch them.
Agreed. I still enjoyed the fairy-tale vibe of the beginning part though.

As far as I can remember they said the second one is supposed to be quite different in few ways.
More open and non-linear, for a start.

To be honest I agree and disagree with you, I agree regarding the first chapter, disagree regarding the 2nd one.
To me personally every thing about CLOS was perfect, it had different paces which was great to me, also I loved how every location had its set of enemies, so you wouldn't find werewolves inside the vampire castle, you won't find trolls in the castle either, and so on, every enemy felt natural in his environment, making it way more enjoyable.
I loved every moment of CLOS, it wasn't a roller coaster which is even better, it had it's slow moments, it's fast moments, and it's epic moments, all in great balance, but that is just me.

I think you could just as easily remove the second and third chapter completely, including that REALLY fuckin' boring Stone Titan boss, and the game would be better. It would still have plenty of other shitty things, like the camera, or the platforming, or the droning Patrick Stewart narration that doesn't match the context of the game(they TELL you how crazy Gabriel is going, but they don't SHOW you anything, it's just empty exposition for dumb plot twist), etc, but the pacing would be better.
And now the framerate is gonna improve. We in there, baby!
I wouldn't remove the stuff -- just tighten it up. If you just flatout remove it, you lose a great deal of the GRAND ADVENTURE that makes this game so special in the first place. You go through so many locations, with so many creatures, and so many setpieces, and so many different atmospheres, that you truly feel like you've circled the earth (and beyond) by the time you reach the end. Not many games like that these days.

Eh, GoW2 does that in half the time, and it's twice as good! Cut a few hours out, and work on making the rest the best damn levels you can.
Hmm, this might not be the series for you if you think so. (Speaking to the sense of adventure, I mean -- I already acknowledged the mechanics can be tightened up.)

I'd probably give the game another go on PC. I couldn't finish the game on 360, but I already know the twist. Ah well.

GoW2 goes to many locations, has many creatures, and many set pieces and atmospheres.
But with a good camera. And non-ass platforming controls. And phenomenal pacing. And combat that's fun from the beginning, not 3-4 hours in. And consistent hitboxes. And etc, etc, etc

Not even close. I played GOW1-3 (liked them) but LoS is better and more varied than any of those games.
The GoW games weren't memorable enough for me for me to really comment on this whole comparison.

The achievements for chapter 13 and 14 indicate that the game will come with the DLC.
