Cemu, World's First Wii U Emulator, Suddenly Released

My garbage PC can run NSMBU. Not a great performance and it had lots of frame drops, but I can play and enjoy it. Can I play SM3DW too? Or it wants more powerful system?
What about Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: TF and SSB?

SM3DW needs a bit more power. If you already have frame drops in NSMBU, I doubt it will run well. Mario kart 8 will probably run decent in time trails, but performance with AI racers thrown in the mix could get dicey. Donkey kong is surprisingly demanding and probably needs the most power of these games.

The developers of this emulator are ridiculous! This might be the fastest progressing emulator I've seen in the past couple of years.

It's incredible how they release a 0.0.1 upgrade and get like 13 more fps in Xenoblade.

That's amazing.

Based on Dolphin history I am now content that Wii U library will not be forgotten and actually preserved on future gaming laptops down in 2018-2020.

Heard about this emulator a while back and just started looking into it now.

Wow...I have no interest in most WiiU software but what the programming team is doing here is incredible. I look forward to seeing more awesome and fast improvements!

Patreon update
1.6.3 releases November 20 for Patrons

Optimizations, bugfixes, no compatibility mention

Wind Waker
Bloom works
Fixed shadows (up close ones in focus, distant ones are blurred, fixed clipping)
Not mentioned, but in the screenshots some of the aliasing looks less harsh, esp around Link and his shadow & object edges affected by DOF

MK8
Bloom works
Fixed shadows
In the screenshots the blotchy, overbright spots are fixed (lots of this in Captain Toad, guessing it's fixed there too) and speculars on characters look more natural

SM3DW
Bloom works
Improved shadows (not clear whether they're fixed in spots where they're clearly broken like shadowplay alley. hoping the weird global shadow bug is fixed)
Game's internal AA implemented

Had some strange issues with 1.6.2. MK8 was pretty much unplayable after running fine on 1.6-1 on my i7 6700 and 1080

But looking forward to the new version. I still can't fathom how much progress has been made.

1.6.3 out for Patrons
Graphic improvements
Rewritten audio core
Bugfixes

http://cemu.info/patreon/changelog/cemu_1_6_3.txt (no performance optimizations/compatibility updates)

Mario Kart 8 - bloom/shadows work. don't think it uses aa. speculars on characters looks better
Super Mario 3D World - bloom/shadows/aa work. big IQ difference, hard to pick out from video. last big bugs in this game are the global shadow issue on some stages and performance issues on the circus stages. edit: seems like circus stages might work properly after it's all cached, shader generation is still particularly bad there
Wind Waker HD - bloom/shadows/aa work. crashing from last update fixed. aa harder to pick out unless you're playing fullscreen for 1080p.
Captain Toad - bloom works. oddly, shadows already worked. can't tell if it uses aa, new clarity might be because the bloom around edges isn't bugged anymore.
Bayonetta 2
Yoshi's Woolly World
DKC Tropical Freeze - random slow down might have gotten worse
Super Smash Bros
Project Zero - doesn't get past title screen now
Splatoon - bloom works, *flip coin* ink speculars don't work, slight performance decrease
New Super Mario Bros. U - graphics cleaned up, might be because of aa
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Bayonetta
Super Mario Maker
New Super Luigi U

Did they fix that falling platform glitch for Super Mario 3D World yet?

This has been fixable since 1.6.0, they don't ship with it for some reason. In your gameProfiles folder create a text file with the name 0005000010145c00.ini (US version, read example.ini in a text editor to find out how to get the filename for other versions). Paste this and save

[CPU]
emulateSinglePrecision = true

Wow, Xenoblade is almost 100% playable. I wonder if it will be 100%, with internal resolution change by early next year.

Anyone knows how One Piece Unlimited World Red runs? It ran pretty good in 1.6.2c but the sound was choppy and the cutscenes were bad, but the actual game ran pretty well.

Doubtful on adjusting internal resolution. They've already announced graphics backend features through to early next year and it's going to be a tight schedule if they have one release in December. Aside from the video cutscenes, I haven't seen anything preventing it from being completely playable already.

They've said video codecs wouldn't get fixed soon. Haven't tested One Piece much, don't notice choppyness but there's a faint crackle.

Man they'be come a long ways in a short amount of time mk8 looks great and plays well. Hope they can figure out some Uber shader stuff for stuttering.

Hey this worked! Thanks! I tried this on 1.6.3 and runs smoothly most of the time with noticeable frame dips. The last version I tried was 1.5.5 so I didn't know a fixup was there already. Game still doesn't run as perfectly as 1.5.2, but it works.

Bunch of stuff

http://cemu.info/patreon/changelog/cemu_1_6_4.txt

Looks like the shift+printscreen shortcut only puts the screenshot in your clipboard
The render upside down feature seems intended for Steam Link users
Not all games look better with bicubic filtering. It only takes effect in fullscreen and (I'm guessing) when the native resolution is lower than the fullscreen resolution.

I just did a little test with Mario 3D World. Is normal for a PC with i7 and GTX 660 to have some hiccups, like when Browser exit the tube in the openning scene? This is a optimization issue with the emulator or my graphic card is weak?

Shader generation. You'll see more (or less) severe hiccups everytime you encounter some effect etc for the first time. Replay the stage and it should be smooth.

So the 1.7 version of CEMU doesn't even start on my pc. The older versions run just fine but I'd like the new version to work too

has anyone had any luck getting Tokyo Mirage Sessions to run well enough to play? Not worried about the cutscenes as much as the actual gameplay since I can just watch those on youtube.

Make sure to extract it with win zip or 7zip.

Windows 10 had defaulted to extracting it (again) with windows Explorer and it does not work that way.
