Chances of seeing a Bizarre PGR-like game on PS3?

Hey

I was looking at some PGR4 pics and damn, it looks really great, better than GT5's IMO (graphics aren't limited to cars, you know), but that's not the point of the thread. I was wondering what you think are the chances of seeing a PGR-like game on PS3 (not PGR, since Microsoft owns the rights, but maybe a Metropolis Street Racer 2). I love the gameplay/style of the series but I don't own a 360 so it'd be great to see something like it on PS3.

Check out The Club. I know it is not a racing game, but it is a product of Bizarre Creations and has a lot of the elements that make the PGR games addictive.

GT5 isn't out yet.

I know, but I was so disappointed when I saw the London track in Prologue... I mean it looks good, especially the lightning but why the hell are all the buildings so flat? IMO that killed the experience a little. But that aside, I'm not a fan of GT's gameplay so it's not just about the graphics for me.

They're working on a new racing franchise for Activision, IIRC, which should be released on PS3.

I stopped reading right there.

Not to derail this thread but do you think Wii Sports will come out for a system other than Wii?

Bizarre got bought by Activision ; it's more than likely that they'll reproduce the feeling of PGR in another racing game.

However, I don't think the PGR franchise will continue, I'm afraid. Poor marketing (which is understandable if we look at the holiday season) from Microsoft and the lack of the original developer probably means it is dead for good.

But we might see another MSR or something like that.

I will never diss PGR4 graphics but I cannot say its a MUCH better looking game than GT5. Anyway for arguments sake its just our own personal love I guess. I meant no disrespect.

Seriously, pgr4 does look pretty amazing.
They're not limited to tracks either.

GT5 track detail << PGR4 track detail

As for the OP, I hope we see one, RR isn't really my cup of tea and another arcade racer would be sweet.

I am sure their next racing game will be multiplatform. It will not be called PGR, but I would guess it will be quite similar to their previous racing games.

Of course it looks better in stills, it's 30fps with motion blur and shit ton effects. It's got a very vivid and polished arcadey look to it. GT5 meanwhile is 60 fps so has to work twice as hard.

I'd love a Metropolis Street Racer 2. For some reason, PGR didn't feel as good as MSR.

I never said it was limited to just the track, just that one or two people just laughed.

I'd say Activision will almost certainly have them competiting with NFS & Midnight Club before too long. Could work out quite well for them too because a PGR type game could stand out in that croud. Dont think MS ever did right by PGR marketing wise.

Oh deary me.... lesson to OP, never mention Gran Turismo graphics unless you intend to state they are the greatest things ever seen by man or beast. Threads go to shit if you dare suggest otherwise.

Anyway, seeing as Bizarre are now part of the Activision stable chances are you will be seeing a Bizarre PS3 racer in the future, although MS do own the IP rights to Project Gotham Racing so it'll be a whole new franchise that Bizarre will be working on.

I'd LOVE to see Bizarre being given the Formula 1 rights, although I think they will carry on with their own 'High-Score-Attack' racer.

PGR4 does not look better than GT5, Prologue, or whatever you wanna call it. Not even close. Playing the actual game and looking at a few pics on the internet are a world of difference.

After playing both games in 1080p on a professionally calibrated Bravia XBR3, I would say that PGR4 looks better. GT5 has much better cars, but PGR4 trumps it in every other category.

And don't give me that "bubububut GT5 is doing more work cuz 60fps" crap. Yes, it is, but that doesn't make the game look much better. The motion blur in PGR4 does such a good job that I can hardly notice the difference between the two.

And to answer the OP's question, I'm pretty sure Activison bought Bizzare to work on a racing game of some sort. I don't know if it will be similar to PGR, but it's a pretty safe bet that they are working on something involving cars.

It's also not that strange resolution you posted.

Yeah... Last time I checked is something like 1280x1080...

But I might be wrong.

Oh... And to me, GT5P is the best looking game on consoles. But I do respect who thinks otherwise. Even the ones with a very well-known agenda.

Just to let you know Sega owns Metropolis Street Racer IP not bizarre. Bizarre just made the game for sage just like they did with PGR for MS. on the box of Metropolis Street Racer it said "Metropolis Street Racer are a registered trademarks or trademarks of Sega Enterprises, LTD. So I don’t see a new Metropolis Street Racer happening.

They are working on a racer and it will be multiplatform. It wont be title PGR MS seems to own that name. But it will porbably be very very similar.

Bullsh!t detected.

Everyone can notice a 30fps game from a mile away. That's why Halo 3 looks so meh after CoD4 - no matter how much motion blur it has in it.
