Chinese Communist Party moving to ban online gaming with "foreigners", implements 10pm gaming curfew for <18

After blocking a popular Nintendo game "Animal Crossing," the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is taking its political censorship to the extreme by disconnecting Chinese online gamers from their guildmates outside China.
On April 10, China banned the popular social simulation video game in which gamers can create a home and interact with cute animal villagers, owing to Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong (黃之鋒) revealing a customized scene in the game which reads "Free Hong Kong" and mocks Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Several other players were also found leveraging the game to vent their discontent with the CCP and making satirical content related to the CCP's failure to tackle the virus.
The communist regime is said to have noticed an authority vacuum in online multiplayer games, which enables people to freely socialize without monitoring. Local metropolises are scrambling to draft laws to expand the scope of online censorship in video games and even prohibit gamers from meeting and chatting with people on the other side of the Great Firewall, according to LTN, which cited news from a Chinese gaming forum.
One-player online games will also be subject to surveillance, as a new real-name mechanism is going to be implemented in China. Also, the new law will not allow for zombies and plagues, map editing, roleplaying, as well as organizing a union in games — regulations which are believed to be inspired by the sensitive content made by Joshua Wong.

They're just like us, guys. It's just a different flavor of government, just a different cultural expression. 🤷‍♀️

I'm wont be exactly sad when China gets locked out from multiplayer games. Chinese are notorious for cheating and plague games like Apex Legends for example.
Modern Warfare too. If you see some guy with Chinese characters in his name on western servers, it’s 50/50 chance he’s a cheater these days.

I hope the entire world turns its back on China as soon as possible. Pull manufacturing, condemn their government and their violations against human rights, prevent them from buying stocks in foreign companies, enforce sanctions. Do what is necessary to avoid dealing with the devil.

Yeah. When I was a child, basically everything in our home had a "Made in (W.) Germany" sticker on it. I didn't miss Chinese products and won't miss them in the future, either. If the cost is a price increase of the shit I buy, so be it.

Brendan Greene is absolutely livid. His statement;
“This kind of xenophobic attitude that a lot of Western players seem to have online is just disgraceful. It's 2017! We live on one big planet together! What the fuck? I'm quite ashamed of those players that shout these things out. We want to create a great space for everyone to enjoy across the globe and locking one region out ... I don't know what the fuck they’re thinking.” - December 2017

I'm sure he's preparing a very strong worded message to China right as we speak.

I agree. I think it would be wise to decrease globalism a notch and start supporting local manufacturing. If that means increased prices then so be it.

In case anyone is wondering just how this sort of thing could be enforced, here's a really, really scary video about life under the CCP:

I mean, seriously, what the actual fuck?!

it is why privacy is important. When govt and companies have vast, amounts of data, AI charged algorithms, control over what we see and hear...well, I don't see much good coming out of it here or there.

Also, the new law will not allow for zombies and plagues

They also ban any game about virus and those who fight for their freedom. Aka FF7 will NOT launch in china lol

While this doesn't seem too far fetched, it should probably be noted that all of this is based not on on some sort of announcement by the Chinese government, but on a Taiwanese news site quoting another Taiwanese site, which, in turn, names as their source a post made by an unknown person on an unknown gaming forum which they do not provide a link to.

I dunno man, Blizzard might make 15% less money and we can't sacrifice something like that for, like, human rights or whatever.

Agreed 100% they lied to the world about the virus and let it spread everywhere, and they've been doing horrible shit since their current regime took over. They need to be treated like the USSR was and cut off.

When people on Twitter want more socialism and communism in our country,

How the hell does the daily life with Chinese people living in their country, even work? these people must be on verge of escaping or ending it all.

B-b-b-but the media keeps trying to tell me Russia's the real threat!

I feel bad for the Chinese people who aren't brainwashed or indoctrinated, but zero shits given for Winnie the Jinpang or the inevitable fall from grace his clubhouse will have this decade. Timed perfectly to Disney's potential collapse, at that. Such sweet, sweet honey pot irony :pie_roffles:

Saw a report on the news today that Facebook, Apple and Google want to monitor citizens to see who's staying at home and who's going out. Probably to feed that data to authorities who can enforce more lockdowns and patrols.

Feeling REALLY bad for people in the big cities i.e NYC.
