I took some time to figure out how I want to say this.

Ultimately, I’m going to say what I need to, and I know there will be those who will try to read between the lines, find holes, and twist my words how they want. I can’t change that. The only thing I have control over is what I can say now. The “we demand proof” crowd will never be satisfied with anything any emotionally abused victim provides, so I will just state some facts instead that show what type of character is present here.

1) Karissa posted a thread about her experiences with him. I am the friend she mentions halfway through the thread.

2) She does not include my name in that thread

3) But you already know it’s me because he named me publicly in his own tweets and without my consent

4) He mentions we saw each other for years after our first meeting. He and I were seeing each other from September 2013 to September 2014. I have not seen him since.

5) When I saw the first tag where he mentions me, I DMed him with a request to remove me from the thread because I felt uncomfortable being named.

6) He did not remove me nor did he delete any tweets naming me.

7) I now cannot send him DMs, but he has not blocked me. This leads me to believe he saw my DM.

8) Those tweets are still active as of this post

9) If someone asks you to not do something because it makes them uncomfortable/scared and you do it and/or make no move to remedy the situation? You’re not a good person.

10) A writer who has worked on successful RPGs, who understands how the written language works, should know how to write an apology. Outing a victim, naming them repeatedly out to the public, and writing “I should have been better, and I apologize” is not an apology; it is a dog whistle.

You don’t do that to someone you supposedly care about. You just don’t.

I thought we had libel laws so people couldn't publically smear someone in print without proof. Why aren't victims using those laws? Is it because it's across borders? Yep! I wonder if we will be playing as a new character entirely, or a descendant of Henry. Even with its glitches and bugs at launch, I still had more fun during Kingdom Come than most games the past few years. If they can launch with a relatively bug free adventure with the sequel, I can't see it doing poorly. Need more Immersive Sims like it.

We here at the RPG Codex have known, and even strongly admired, Chris Avellone's work for many years. Perhaps one of the most well known RPG character writers in the gaming industry, Chris has worked on and has been involved with many RPGs that users on this site consider classics. Games such as Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter, and Icewind Dale II.

Not to mention Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter - Trials of the Luremaster, along with a handful of other, lesser known titles.

Like many, we have struggled to come to terms with the allegations made against Mr Avellone. It's tough to respond to a story made about someone you love when you are feeling hurt and betrayed. Emotions make it difficult to think clearly. But apparently, the truth is out.

Chris Avellone isn't gay.

We are just as shocked as everybody at learning this. For decades, in fact since this site was founded back in the heady days of 2002, it was our assumption that Chris was a raging homosexual. He wasn't known as Chris "Asselone" for nothing. And we certainly weren't the only ones.

To discover that this isn't the case has left many of us shocked and without words. It is something none of us ever expected:

To discover that Chris "the Love God" Avellone has made awkward passes at women in their 40s and been rejected, hurts us in ways that cannot be logically understood with logic or reason. I don't know if one would call it a coincidence or a crazy theory, even though she did tweet within this new wave of attacks via twitter but, Quinn seems to have at least one (maybe two?) failed but active crowdfunded projects, where she obviously ran out of money, delivered nothing and stopped updating.
