The merchandising? *shrug*, all franchises wish they had such marketability, it's a huge source of income. Doesn't do anything to hurt the actual show, it's just something for fans to indulge in if they want.

I hate the way lucas whores out everything he has, great way to diminish what is a surprisingly good show.

I don't find the toys that offensive. But I was watching a TV commercial where they were selling those Egg-like things that stand up on their own, except with Star Wars characters.

I was like, what.

I like the focus on the clone training. And how thy may have explained why the original trilogy clones are such bad shots :lol

Really wish they would've made this a three parter, spending more time on the new troopers training and such, and the final part being the battle. But hey at least we got a new unique way of someone dying
force pulled onto a lightsaber
and also Anakin's darker side coming out at the end in the hangar bay.

Was ok, but yea it really felt like it should have been a 3 part arc like they normally do on this show. I suppose they did it as 2 parts just to be a season premier, but 3 parts would have worked better.

Stormtroopers in the OT were mostly all regular volunteer human recuits, not clones. The use of clones was slowly phased out between the trilogies, only some actual clones remain in deployments at time of the OT.

It was a solid premiere. In a strange way too it actually is a 3 part episode but not in proper order. The first half of this Episode was set before Episode 5 of Season 1. While the last half is set after that episode.

Domino Squad are the rookies in Episode 5 of Season 1.

Yeah, that was cool how they made the connection.

Seems logical. They implied in this episode that the clones were no longer replicating with as much success, and they had to look for a new template, or they won't be reliable in the future.

The main boost to animation this season so far seems to be the animation of cloth. They were talking it up at Celebration and it does seems much more fluid as we see in the robes of Shakti, Ventress, and the Kaminoans. It looked great overall but not as big as leap as season 2 was over 1 I think. But show looks great in HD damn, the space battle stuff also seemed more cinematic and like the movies this time around compared to past seasons.

I really noticed Obi-Wan's beard, and how it's light refracts inside it differently compared to his head hair, which is very realistic. I noticed it while they were in the briefing room.

Also, Kamino during the day. The floors looked wet for real.

I haven't watched this show from the beginning, but I'm starting to get hooked. Some really great set pieces here. I guess I just ignore bad writing now when I watch anything Star Wars.

the continuity of this is all over the place :D

Yea I was surprised they jumped back to around season 1 era for these episodes. I know they were saying they wanted to make the episodes more in line with the coming season but I guess they didnt mean this season :lol

Did they note anywhere when episode 2 takes place and if it's supposed to be around season 3? Because it sounded like they had set it only a little while after season 1 episode 5. The official site notes that it was supposed to follow the episode "rookies" but they wanted to give the squad more time to build up experience before becoming ARC troopers. And then you had Ventress meeting Grievous for the first time which I don't remember if they ever met in previous episodes yet.

I don't think there is a 'Season 1', 'Season 2', or 'Season 3' time, since all episodes take place at different times, except the ones the multiple part ones that take place back to back.

Rookies took place between the two new ones in here. There an episode in Season 1 that took place before the movie. There are even more we don't know about.

Yea I know, but for many episodes it often works out due to them being able to shift between characters. Some episodes obviously follow others or happen at the same time as another episode. Guess it helps them work in the limited 2 year time frame the series is set in, but some more clarity would be nice on these things. At Celebration they had said they wanted to be more straight forward with the timeline with coming episodes. And with Season 4 they are changing the character designs a bit so I guess they won't be jumping back much either.

I still don't remember if Ventress and Grievous had met before or not in the series.

And this also would be the 2nd attack on Kamino by the separatists. Not long after AOTC the Seps attacked Kamino in the Dark Horse comic series. The TV series seems to be following the comic in that Shak Ti was also stationed and overseeing the clones on Kamino in that series.

Interesting. I remember she being recruited on the 2D show, but not her and Grevious together.

I remember that. She showed up at some tournament Dooku was orchestrating. She was calling herself a Sith and then Dooku schooled her. I think thats how it went.

You don't have to but it does introduce like 2 of the new characters. It was kind of meh as it was just the first 3 original episodes they did slapped together and called a movie, they really would have been better viewed separately. Movie then season 1, they were hit and miss, show gets much better with it's 2nd season but 1st season had some goods episodes too.

Kinda strange so much focus on the clones in the series when we know what they will be doing eventually. Cody who appears in the show alot tries to kill Obi Wan, and Gree is the one who attempts to kill Yoda and loses his head on Kashykk.

Rex is the wild card since he was a new character for the show and hes gotten the most limelight. Hes also part of the 501st which attacked the Jedi temple in ep3 and becomes Vader's personal unit during the Jedi purge. We never see or hear of Rex in any other place so wonder if he turns against order 66 (some clones apparently did). He also has gotten the most focus of all, including the episode where he protects the deserter clone which makes me wonder if that will play into the end of the series somehow.

finally watching my DVR recorded.

production value looks good. music sounds epic. Really like the Kamino episode. Good season opener

augh why. Jar jar nxt ep

Clone Wars is at its best when it's following nameless soldiers in random skirmishes like LoGH did. Every time "Skyguy" gets involved it descends into shit. And we all know Grevious & Dooku survive till the end so it's never a surprise when they get in a handy escape pod every single time.

The next episode is apparently set before episode 1 of season 1. Wonder if the entire season 3 is going to be set in between the parts of season 1 and 2.

Skywalker is actually tolerable in this series, and they are adding some much needed character development to him through this and other EU materials. His going to the darkside is being much more gradually handled in this. Dooku outside the original CW movie has rarely been used in this series, hes mainly been just the leader of the Seps giving orders, Ventress and Grievous have gotten all the main bad guy duty along with the new characters.

Really? Think hes fairly good, course he is nothing like the movie Anakin so one can say hes not good at the part :lol

The VA for Ashoka is the one that I still really can't stand though she has gotten better, the character just has too much peppy annoying kid dialogue.

NEXT NEW EPISODE - Supply Lines 9 PM Friday, 9/24/2010

Jedi Master Di and Cham Syndulla's forces are trapped on Ryloth. Senator Bail Organa and Jar Jar Binks are sent to Toydaria to acquire help in saving the Jedi Master and local forces.

The biggest thing we got from this is CONFIRMED CONTINUITY!

This takes place before the Ryloth episodes and Ambush of Season 1!

Definitely the best role Jar Jar has had so far, actually showing some skill for once instead of his usual bumbling self. And the awesome jedi makes it entirely worthwhile.

holy shit! a jedi dies on this show!? shocking! and Jar Jar was surprisingly tolerable.

Another Jedi was shown killed by Grievous in Season 1

Well it was discussed in the episode preview by David, sounds like they are going to be doing alot of back tracking this season and filling gaps.

it's been so long since I seen it, but I recall it now. that cocky little shit. also Grievous killed several others in Clone Wars (his most badass appearance)

Wow this show is still going on. I saw the movie and it was sort of horrible though the girl character wasnt so bad. Why do they go with this stylized look? I would like something a little more impressive. Does anyone remember that Avatar finale? Star Wars shows should be of the same level. But then again I dont expect George Lucas to take good care of this franchise anymore. :lol
