When Anakin force choked someone during an interrogation and Vaders theme played in Season 2 redemed anything negative about this show

Screw the haters this show is too awesome to be judged on 3-4 meh episodes

It has been awesome ever since Cad Bane , the Bounty Hunters, and the Mandolorians became a major part.

Wow this show is still going on. I saw the movie and it was sort of horrible though the girl character wasnt so bad. Why do they go with this stylized look? I would like something a little more impressive. Does anyone remember that Avatar finale? Star Wars shows should be of the same level. But then again I dont expect George Lucas to take good care of this franchise anymore. :lol

Because they wanted to do this show at Lucasfilm, and they basically don't have a set up for 2D animation, but they obviously have lot of experience in CG. The show was completely funded by LFL before any network even had interest so instead of outsourcing or having to create a 2D animation studio. Really doubt it would have been a good idea to not go with a stylized look as with CG the uncanny valley stuff is usually pretty awful. The animation itself is great and gets better each season.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is Ratchet. Ratchet is Obi-Wan.

At comic-con last year I was talking to JAT before our Ratchet panel, and I told him how much I loved his Obi-Wan. He immediately jumped into character and said "Why thank you my young padawan." Total nerd-out awesome moment.

I need to get him to record the voice mail on my cell phone someday. So awesome. <3 James Arnold Taylor. <3 this show. Wish the S2 Blu-Rays were out now so I could've rewatched before S3.

To add this, each episode has its own budget for more props/sets, so as they go on, the diversity is getting better and better as they can reuse stuff. S2/S3 are night in day in terms of that compared to the, somewhat sparse, S1.

I was channel surfing & caught a glimpse of a preview of the next episode starring.....

GREEDO!!!!

:lol

Lucas is really running out of ideas.

Given that this is a kids show/franchise, I can't really see how it could be much better....

Surprisingly enjoyable.

The show honestly is less kid centric than the movies. I mean tonight we got to watch a Jedi master get gunned down by dozens of droids and even tell his Clone Commander time to go out in a blaze of glory.

It still has its light hearted moments but I feel its the most solid Star Wars project in a very long time. The movie and its overly kiddiness poorly framed opinions early on

Not to mention CN made them edit out a death scene from the premiere (when Ventress guts one of the Clones) , that will be on the DVD/BD release of S3 but CN found it too violent to air

Multiple episodes have focused on people dying, Anakin has used the force choke, this season the violence is increasing (as far as us knowing people are dying)

So I agree, anyone saying its a kid centric show has really not been watching after the halfway mark of S1

Yea, lot of ideas got tossed out during S1 because they didn't have time and money to produce the CG assets in time. At the start of yesterdays episode for example they showed Season 1 footage and there was a big difference one can see in the animation and art quality.

Think lot of people just see some of the more goofy moments at times and just shut it off and dismiss the show. The show has really surprised many, even the hardcore fans at first were apprehensive of the show as going to be too kiddie, but they have done a good job of winning people over and striking a decent balance for all audiences.

It was odd to me since I wouldn't think a lot kids know who Greedo is.

which is odd because we seen about 2 people impailed on air. once by Anakin and another by Ventress

Believe it was more about Ventress kissing the dying clone while it was impaled on her saber

that wouldn't make sense.

although in both instances I mentioned, all we saw was the lightsaber coming out of the chest, not going in like the last episode.

Violence is not the pure reason for censorship, folks at CN probably just thought the whole thing was a bit too morbid for the younglings with a person being impaled and the whole kiss of death type scene. Censorship is never consistent.

Lucas is really running out of ideas.

Lucas has little to do with this, which is probably one of the reasons its so good. Sure Greedo is a fan nod, but the series is damn good and I love how it's not always a happy outcome or good doesn't always win.

Good didn't win tonight.

They lost, or at best it was a draw tonight. You don't see too many shows, especially one that people claim is aimed at kids, where the good guys don't win outright.

ok that binks episode is not that bad. I think last season, binks' role was also a distraction.

I really like scenes of political arguing and showing soldiers dying.

Not entirely true, pretty sure he's still involved in the script approval process.

He supposedly writes some of the stories, but the episodes are written and scripted by others, as well as him having say on everything. Not really certain how true that is, he doesn't appear credited as writing any of the Clone Wars episodes. But in the preview videos on sw.com, the director has said the story for such and such episode was thought up by Lucas, like the cloaked republic ship episode.

"A child stolen is a hope lost."

Synopsis: Chairman Papanoida's family is kidnapped and held for ransom. Ahsoka must team up with the Senator from Pantora, Riyo Chuchi, to aid the new chairman in recovering his family before the Trade Federation can unduly influence the future of his planet.

Director: Kyle Dunlevy
Writer: Katie Lucas, Steve Melching
Supervising Writer: Drew Z. Greenberg

Key Characters: Ahsoka Tano, Senator Riyo Chuchi, Chairman Papanoida, Chi Eekway, Che Amanwe, Ion, Senator Lott Dod, Jabba the Hutt
Key Locales: Coruscant; Tatooine

Ugh, thought this was a pretty awful episode. Whole thing was pretty much; "look at the George Lucas clan's cameo roles from the prequels doing stuff!". Uninteresting characters, nothing of importance happened, bad voice acting (keep Seth Green to comedy), Greedo kiss, and wood tables stopping blaster bolts :lol

Next week should hopefully be better with a return to Mandalore, but it seems like it will be a Padme focused episode so not sure how well that will turn out.

That id agree with if they are gonna have his character cameo couldnt they at least have him do the voices.

Probably would have been worse, he doesn't seem to have that much of a personality for this kind of stuff. Wouldn't have made much difference....

I don't know this was one of the worst episodes in a long time for this series, pretty meh tastic on all fronts.

Almost got excited when they brought back the pudgy detective, he was a fun character.

So, why did they make such a big deal out of Greedo being in the episode anyway?
Wasn't he a pretty mediocre bounty hunter?

He was in the original movie. That alone makes him famous, even though he was blown up less than a minute after he first appeared.

Like they were making a big deal of the Chairman and family on the net as well, because Lucas and his family played the characters in episode 3. Lot of lame "fan service hype" for a shitty episode. Lucas cameo character and Greedo? Really? :lol

I'm hoping they start up some of the usual 3 part arc story lines soon.

"The challenge of hope is to overcome corruption."

Synopsis: Padmé, on a diplomatic mission to Mandalore, guarantees the pacifist planet the Republic's full protection, but she and Duchess Satine soon find something sinister lurking beneath the planet's serene facade.

Director: Giancarlo Volpe
Writer: Cameron Litvack

Key Characters: Padmé Amidala, Duchess Satine Kryze, Prime Minister Almec
Key Locales: Mandalore

This one felt a lot like a Star Trek episode. A bunch of high class officials solving mysteries in their own space. Satine reminded me of Captain Janeway, and Padme B'Lana Torres.

But the problem is, in Star Trek, negotiation usually involved some kind of complex moral dilemma. Star Wars morality tends to be simplistic, so we get nonsense about trade routes (HOW MANY TIMES WILL THEY USE THIS???) with a random gun fight at the end. Usually, the writing on this show is given the "it's a kid's show defense" (which is a weak excuse anyway), but what is the justification for this episode? Why would kids care about poison tea and blocked trade routes on Mandalore? Isn't Mandalore where all the Boba Fett mercenaries are originally from? Is there nothing that can be done with that?

Mandalore at this point in the timeline under Satine has tossed away it's war mongering past, it is supposed to be a pacifist system now. Boba Fett was his own man like Jango who were Mandalorian by culture of the old ways, and most of the Mandalorians who believed in the old ways are elsewhere like the Death Watch and the Protectors.

Also this episode was not about trade routes or moral dilemmas, it was about the corruption and problems the planet Mandalore is undergoing. It is a companion to last seasons Mandalore trilogy showing the instability of the planets government from inside as well as the outside elements we already saw.

Oh, I see. That's much more kid-friendly :lol

I'm hoping the rest of this season delivers more jedi/clone/bounty hunter battles. It's what this show does well. But when they stray into other aspects of the prequel era, it gets pretty unbearable.

Last two 2 eps were pretty underwhelming, pretty filler feeling with focusing on lesser characters it seems, and we haven't gotten any trilogy episode arcs yet.

As for kids, really doubt they even really care about whats going on with the background story, they just watch it mainly for the pew pew and lightsabers.

First 3 eps of the season were good, these past two were meh. Well this one wasn't bad, last weeks episode was just awful I thought.

Not a terrible episode, but it definitely looks to have just been a setup for the next episode(s). Hopefully we'll be done with Padme for a while.

I didn't like the animation. It regressed to Season 1 standards. It ruined the new characters, they looked super stiff.

The action and story was great though.

Yeah, it's a fine show. Taking place in the prequel universe is no reason to ignore it.

No, it introduces several childish characters and cartoon-like stroylines.

The only episode that's actually on par with the prequels is the first episode of the Geonosis re-invasion.

These mandalore episodes were pretty dull, felt like major filler material. Get back to the war stuff or to a trilogy with some meat.

It's got some great episodes, but it's kinda on and off. Season 2 was fairly good all around. Show is an anthology style series so it's highly episodic and jumps around between characters and even timeline. There are episodes that do seem more for a younger audience but the war stuff itself is pretty good and some nice action set pieces. It's not an ongoing series with a continuing storyline, it's very much little bite sized adventure serials.

Zenith said:

It's Star Wars. There's a lot of creativity and energy that go into these things, but there's also Ewoks, Jar-Jar, Space Diners, Jedi babies, Jake Lloyd, and "that's so wizard, Annie!" People can be really selective with their opinions of what Star Wars is and isn't. The movie series is filled with a bunch of childish characters and cartoon-like storylines too.

Do I even have to bring up the Christmas Special? The Ewoks and Droids cartoons? The Battle For Endor? Star Tours? Super Bombad Racing? Action figures? LEGOs? Star Wars is and always has been just as much for kids, if not more so, than anyone else. The Clone Wars is ultimately a kids show, but there are times when I really wonder if it is appropriate for kids.

And CW for the most part has been much more mature than any of those previous ventures. The show is on CN with an obvious heavy interest in the younger market with all it's merchandising opportunities, and LFL themselves have said it's become a gateway to a new generation of fans. Many of those new fans watching the show never have seen the movies even.

The show is pretty plot lite and just 22 min adventures which are usually stand alone. The show shows potential when it expands it's story lines to longer arcs with it's trilogy sets of storylines, but those are sprinkled throughout the seasons with a bunch of stand alone episodes.

Star Wars has always been much more simple adventure material.. and just good fun, the darkest and more complex it has gotten would be actually with the novel and comic book series which for the most part target the adult fan base.

Although I would like if the new episodes weren't so much like Star Trek. These Mandalore plots could be done with any Star Trek character aboard any Star Trek ship.

Who contaminated the food supply? Come on B'Lana, help Janeway figure out where it's coming from. Oh, and the guys from Engineering also try to help, but Janeway won't let them.

These episodes just don't work all that well within 22 min confines of the series episodes and the style of the show doesn't really work all that well for it. The resolutions always end up very rushed and feels kind of half assessed. The show works best when it stays simple and to it's adventure roots. The Senate Murder episode from last season was one of the few I think that worked out well for non action/adventure focused episode.
