COD4 DLC - PS3 Getting Maps 21 Days Later

I'm not too sure about the Source, (Loot Ninja) but the EIC just updated his post on COD4 GOTY Edition and also stated that the PS3 version of the game would be getting the content 21 days later, with no reason as to why.

[EIC Update] ...Just heard from Activision. The Variety Map Pack will be EXCLUSIVE to the Xbox 360 for the first 21 days of release. Sorry, PS3 owners :(

Seriously now, what does IW, Activision or any other party involved (Sony and MS) have to gain by delaying the content for those that already own the game?

If you think it will sway those buying the game new, 360 is already get the GOTY edition with all the DLC for FREE, so I don't understand why MS would buy out the exclusivity window since they are already giving the content along with the copy of the game (which is exclusive right now anyway)

Why delay the content for those who paid full price for the game DAY ONE on PS3?

If anything, your losing out on sales for those who will probably move on to GTAIV very quickly.


Dko5 and Calen, whats up with that? Can you please clear this up?

Granted that it could be BS, and that if not BS, it could just be a matter of getting the maps done earlier on one platform vs the other, but if this is some form of deal then really, Activision can go fuck itself with a barbed dildo.

I don't own either of the versions. So that would likely have been the case anyway. That certainly doesn't make this deal, if it is a deal, any less shitty. I'm more curious to know what will happen with the PC version. I think they will have a hard time charging for these on that platform.

It bothers me because I wanted to get a good month of MP out of the way before GTA IV. If anything, they just lost a sale. No reason for me to spend $10 on content that I won't play due to other games coming out.

I would really like this to be cleared up by an IW dev since I know they are on the boards quite often.

It's an odd deal really, there must be another reason behind it rather than MS just paying for exclusivity, they don't have anything to gain from it aside from smug points.

I have the 360 Version but they lost the sale already, just when they announced the ridiculous price...

I doubt MS would pay for this, it aint going to sell any consoles.

I guess its just a matter of them being sent to certification to MS and it all sailing through, why not take the money now before people move onto GTA??

Not surprising if true. It's not the first time they did that to PS3 owners.

Anyways, I could care less about that game and it's maps anymore. The honeymoon's over and the flaws/issues on both the PS3 and 360 version of the game forced me to move on. I still can't figure out why they wouldn't include new weapons in that pack, it has a serious shortage of weapons as is, and it's competitors are really showing that. And, strangely enough, I'm actually really enjoying R6V2 (360) at the moment, it's actually not too bad. Playing through SP and did some terrorist hunt which was fun.

Then it's onto GT5:p, GTA4, and MGS4 to all hold me over until the return of the king (IF S6 does what they're saying).

Also, I'll tell you one thing. As fun as RS6:V2 is in single-player and terrorist hunt, I found the multiplayer (attack and defend, deathmatch, etc.) nearly unplayable after 4 months of non-stop COD4.

The bar has been raised for modern weapons shooters.

It could just be taking longer to go through Sony and optimize the maps for the Ps3..... Why should they DELAY the 360 maps because the Ps3s aren't ready yet?

If thats what it turns out to be, then what can we as consumers do but deal with it. But if its some lame exclusivity deal, it blows.

21 days is a pretty accurate amount of time for a development delay, especially when the content is still two + weeks from being available on 360. How do they know exactly how long its going to take them down to the exact day then?

If it is a timed-exclusive deal, and I'm not saying it is, but if it is... then we've indeed hit rock-bottom* and these fucking bullshit exclusives that publishers are signing with platform holders HAS GOT TO STOP.








*If this isn't an exclusive, then great, but I have a feeling we'll hit rock-bottom soon enough with some other stupid deal.

This is obviously a Sony ploy to cultivate a victim complex in their base so they feel even more compelled to spew the bullshit that has rained down on the internet, this forum specifically, recently.

Anyways, props to whoever involved for not kowtowing to Sony and delaying both versions, whatever the reason the PS3 one is delayed.

They just asked? Maybe It'll take an extra 2 weeks to Optimize for the Ps3, then the auth service through Sony just takes a week.... maybe its 1 week Optimize 2 weeks through Sony. You're insane if you think they're doing this just to spite Ps3 owners or because of some exclusivity deal.... it took them longer to do the Ps3 patch why wouldn't it take them longer to release maps? And Why wouldn't they work on the 360 version first? It overall has MORE users..... it wouldn't make sense to do the Ps3 version first or delay the 360 version because of it. Majority > Minority.
