Re: Jacob Eason
Draft scouts hate it when QBs transfer, because they perceive it as a "lack of loyalty", so I don't think him leaving is as much of an eventuality as some believe
He has the talent to get his job back, but you can't take Fromm out when he's playing as well as he is, and he could start at a number of D1 schools
I would hate to be in the position to have to make that kind of decision

It's first world problems to not know which of your 5 star QBs to put in, so it could be much worse. I think embarrassment of riches is the right term.

Remember when we said that this was a mistake on y'alls part to fire Les? Remember when we said you all would fuck everything up?

We did warn you friend. I'm sorry..

Now be honest now..

At least we're bad instead of mediocre so we have no hope now? Or something.

Remember when LSU was going to win the SEC West this year and beat Bama?

haha good times
I do not recall.

I was talking more about Eason's decision to leave than the coaching staff, I should've made that more clear, sorry
Hopefully the edit I made to my previous post made it clearer

That LSU bit hurt deep guys. $12 mil buyout christ almighty.
The most recent episode of the shutdown fullcast has a segment where they talk about that buyout. They want LSU to go after Jimbo, pay his 40 mil buyout, and go so far in debt that the rest of the SEC has to bail them out.

Looking at stat stuff. Jalen Hurts leading Alabama in rushing seemed alarming to me until I realized he's not getting that many carries. His YPC are just ridiculous. I don't think he's improved as a runner (because it's hard to improve on elite), but our line is so much better and his passing is backing defenses off, so he's able to pick his spots better and be way more efficient. I'm not sure there are 3 players in the country better on the move with the ball in their hands, honestly.

Nah. He's gone if he doesn't win the job back. Can't get himself looked at for the league riding the bench behind a player that's younger than him. And that scout belief has never made a lick of fucking sense anyways. Scouts and coaches asking things of players that aren't even required of them is beyond stupid.

Well for one, you have 12 million reasons why that is bad.

Two, As a Browns fan, that loses its appeal after the first decade or so..

Why would the conference do that? They are not getting Jimbo unless Jimbo actively decides to say fuvk it (why would he?).

LSU deserves to become the Rutgers of the South if that's truly the plan.

I wonder if they hate it as much as HAVING NO FILM TO EVALUATE A PLAYER SINCE HE WAS ALWAYS ON THE BENCH.

Come on, this is a horrible take.

We almost had him before. Whose to say he doesn't grow tired of winning with a good program and decides he wants a harder life on a weekly basis for probably a little more money that FSU could totally offer. Who says no?

This happens a lot more than people think.

Player X gets hurt for an extended period which means Player Y gets playing time. Player Y finally has time to shine, and then Player X is left wondering wtf when they get done with rehab.

Right. And there's no shame in X searching for greener pastures after that. Especially someone like Eason who can only play QB. Not every day you get a Braxton Miller type who can say "welp, guess I'm a receiver now".

In other news, I hate to admit it, but Notre Dame seems...better than I thought they'd be this year.

This is what happens when you #RTDB

It's also somewhat valuable to realize that a lot of advanced metrics showed that last year's team wasn't as bad as the record showed, they lost a crap ton of one score games in the 4th quarter because of a horrible defensive scheme and poor conditioning. Both of those problems were rectified with new hires.

Yep. 4-8 could've been 8-4 or better really easily.

I think praising Notre Dame for only losing to UGA by 1 makes more sense than knocking UGA for only beating them by 1 at this point, in any case.

Accidentally posted in previous thread -

I'd go for Gary Patterson personally.
I really don't see him leaving TCU anytime soon.
I've always heard that Patterson has a RichRod type deal where he has additional income from natural resource companies in addition to his base compensation. So yeah, he ain't leaving.
As ryseing said, what most don't seem to know about Patterson is that you are not going to pry him away from TCU by offering more money because they can match absolutely anything you throw at him. They've got some old money donors that won't be outbid.

As a private school they don't need to disclose his compensation, but even what they disclose generally puts him in the top 10 or 20 in coaching salary every year. Add in the "hidden" stuff and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he was top 5.

Ha thanks, I'm already in a pretty active D2 clan. But I still play with a bunch of people outside of it too. No one in mine is very interested in running trials for example, so I've been meaning to find others who would be.

Transfer rules in this case suck, but idk how to change them for their not to be loop holes.

Ideally I'd like Eason to be able to transfer without sitting out a year. I can see how that could be gamed though.

Yeah, it's shitty. At least if he loses the job this year, he should be good to redshirt.

The media seems to be just as in awe as I am that Daboll seemingly has our offense running smoother than Kiffin did in his time here. I think some of that has got to be attributable to the SEC being further in decline and Daboll actually having a QB that isn't starting for the first time to work with. But as great as he was, Kiffin's style of calling plays left a ton of room for error, and it showed. If nothing else, we start a hell of a whole lot faster.

I forgot my dad hasn't been to an Alabama game since the 2011 game of the century against LSU. He's super pumped for the game Saturday lol. It'll be the first one we've been to together in the Saban era. Almost makes me hope A&M puts up an entertaining fight. Almost.

If anyone is in Atlanta and looking for something cheap to do, you could see Wake at GT.

Jesus Christ. That's a steal...I think.

Reasons not to fire Butch Jones.

Some choice cuts..

Head is perfectly square. That’s rare, and you might need it one day, like if the world depends on having one person whose perfectly cubical head fits a notch in an ancient lock that prevents the Dark Ones from entering this world through the gift shops of Cracker Barrels. This is how the Dark Ones will enter this world. Uncle Herschel’s Favorite, as it turns out, refers to global extradimensional destruction (and also baked apples.)

Good ratter. Let this man loose in a crawlspace and watch him work, he’s basically a 185 pound Dachshund in a badger warren.
