The Masterworks editions that collect Amazing Spider-Man 1-like 260 something (22 volumes) is on sale for $2 a piece.
And Ive alreadt read his 1st appearance in Amazing Fantasy through Amazing #30 and man classic Peter is such a trip.
I Can see why kids liked him back then. He was really a teenager with powers. Even after Ben died he still just wanted money and chicks. Being a hero was just kind of a byproduct of him trying to get one or both of those 2 things.
Dude even crashes a party by hosted by Johnny Storm to try to steal his thunder.
And the first appearance of villains like Goblin. His 1st attempt to get Spidy is so... corny and comic booky. His most famous nemesis! And JJJ is indirectly a murderer and he knows it. This whole "JJJ really cares is much more a future character development. JJJ is a sack of greedy shit.
Seriously though. Read Classic Spidy. Peter is such a little jerk but it's so fun.
