Condemned goes PC. Anybody cares?

wtf, uncensored version?

Anyway, I hope they don't add anything cool, I think the experience is actually better fit to a console, to be honest.

Nah, it was planned for PC, 360, and PS3, as was Full Auto, but Microsoft bought console exclusivity, iirc. I remember watching an interview with either a Sega or MS guy who said it.

Uncensored? You mean the 360 version is censored or cut in some way? :lol

The 360 game is alread beyond the "too far" boundary when it comes to blood and violence, IMO. Any more is just going to make it too uncomfortable to play

If the PC is getting the "uncensored original verson", does that mean a censored version was released on XBOX 360? How much more violent can the game get?

The Dark One

Yeah what 123rl said!

The uncensored refers to the fact that its on a German site, I don't think the 360 version actually sold in stores in Germany at all.

Sucks that the PS3 version was cancelled.... those fuckers!

Wait does this means that MS bought exclusivity too for Oblivion, it was also supposed to be for PS3!!!

Argh!

/looks at replies

So yeah... nobody cares.

Personally I'd love a demo first to see how the shadowing eye-candy runs.

Ps3 version was never even in development. It was always 360/Pc,same goes for oblivion, since oblivion was first announced it was Pc/360

F.E.A.R. II would kick ass though.

We need more nuke-goes-off-OMGWTFBBQ-was-that-moments like in the first part.

I played through this game twice on 360. It is brilliant. I liked it more than F.E.A.R., although I really enjoyed that too. It gave me more creeps than F.E.A.R., the sense of isolation set forth in Condemned makes you take everything slowly and peak around every corner. The last stage is also one of the coolest levels I've played for any game.

This should be much better on pc plus its not censored.

Not sure why this would be much better on PC. The game is first person, but most of its combat is melee based. I'd wager this game is more tense with the rumbling 360 pad than it would be with a keyboard and mouse.

Yeah, it makes the sensation or the melee combat more noticable. All intertwined with the gameplay which is great on the 360 pad. This game isn't twitch combat where you need pinpoint accuracy.

It might as well be. I'll see if its worth getting on either system.

I don't see why...

The game does not rely on accurate aiming and, as I've said before, "cinematic" or experience based first person titles are better experienced with a pad (as the screen motion is smoother and you can use analog motion while walking). A mouse would bring nothing to the table here. There is not one ounce of fine aiming in this game.

The game also runs at 1280x720 on XBOX360 already and, if the game runs like FEAR did on the PC, you probably won't be running any higher than that and/or getting better framerates. FEAR ran very smooth for me, but not in high-res for some reason. That seems to be the case across all benchmarks too.

It all depends on where you feel you could experience the game better. If your PC is in a better area for providing a dark experience, go for it...if your TV is, use that.

In the case of Condemned, I'd have to agree that mouse+kb isn't necessarily better. Actually, it might make the game too easy. Condemned isn't about fast movements and a lot of shooting. It's more akin to survival horror games which work on the basis of slower movements to create tension. The increased precision of the kb/mouse would just ruin that.

You forget that pc's have better connectivity than anything. I can use a controller for my pc. PS2 or X360. Even then i doubt it means the game cant be played with a mouse.

You can run it better than anything on console provided you have a nice pc, doesnt matter what area. Even then a semi-decent pc can tweak the game effectively and nowadays you can play on a tv if you have the means. Options are endless.

Uncensored content is also a plus for the pc version.

They were announced as PC/Next-gen consoles. That's different than just saying PC/360.
It wasn't until later when Condemned was called an 360 exclusive.

I know that, but it never quite feels "perfect" when using a pad on the PC (well, it depends on the game). Games that use any sort of analog motion never feel quite right to me, basically. That's opinion, of course, but hey...

In the case of this game, perhaps, but if you have a console game at 60 fps locked (at this resolution)...the best a PC could hope to do is match it at an even higher resolution.

I've been moving further and further away from tweaking. I used to love it, but having more options just ends up ruining my experience as I spent far too much time tweaking. It's a problem for me these days. I want more and more polish...

Give me 720p + 60 fps on a console and I'll be set.

It was an 360 exclusive by default, because the PS3 just didn't fit into its schedule. It was announced as a 'next-gen' game because the Xbox 360 wasn't 'officially' announced that time and there was a media blackout.

You guys are all forgetting that this article was from a German publication, and that in Germany games such as Condemned must be heavily censored before they can be sold for consoles. Excessive gore, etc. is not permitted. The German version of RE4 did not have red blood, there were no headshots, and there were no Dr. Salvadors.

Thus, the PC version might be uncensored in that regard, as PC games don't have region lockout.

I already SAID that! :D

Well i always have the PS2 pad if the X360 pad causes problems. PS2 pad has proven worthy for a while.

I'd say the pc version will look better at higher settings as well as provide the better visual and audio experience ;)

Technically there is little reason for me to go for the console version. Not really a convincing console argument here at all. I could understand if it was like playing a fighting game or something. The more than 50% cheaper price alone will sway me but you have the better graphics and sound on the pc game. Then the fact that its just cooler to have it on pc :P

But maybe i might just get it for 360 if it goes a little cheaper just to get some games for it, who knows.

Thus, the PC version might be uncensored in that regard, as PC games don't have region lockout.

I thought German pc games were also consored judging by the amount of German gore patches.

How will it deliver a better audio experience? That depends entirely upon the sound setup you have in each area.

The only visual element that could improve would be resolution, but it's already plenty high on 360 *and* we know the FEAR engine was very demanding at higher resolutions. It's not like they will re-do the assets in higher resolutions or something...

The differences present will be minor and only those with very high-end PCs will see any improvements at all.
