Do it. I sold my high end a year ago.
Never looked back. PC made be obsessed, I barely was able to enjoy games.
All I cared about was how can I make the game run the best, with the best possible graphics.
I spent hours in the menu every-time. And let's not forget all the bad ports, pretty much every single triple A game. And all the errors and nonsense. Then I go to PC game forums and thousands upon thousand of posts about people having problems with the game. Not worth it. (Go check the PC performance threads on here, every time a game comes out. So sad). On my ps4, I put the disk in, update and play. If there is a problem (extremely rare), it's the developer's fault, no tinkering around needed, so beautiful.

Most online games on PC are filled with hackers, or dead on arrival, or die within months. infinite warfare right now is dead. Battlefront when it came out died quickly. Division was unplayable, due to hackers. F that.

I only care about 60 fps in a handful of games (fast arcade and fps). 30fps stable is 100% playable for me on consoles, even for some first person shooters. Destiny runs like a dream.
Modding is a pro of PC games. But I don't care anymore. It's a waste of time. By the time I finish a moddable game, there is another big game waiting for me to play, my backlog is huge, and there are always games coming out.

And I hate the PC elitists. with their "Build your rig" mentality. F off.

And my ass that PC gaming is cheaper. I have saved a ton of money by going the consoles route. Yes you pay for online buu it's cheap and you get a lot of free games that I would not have played otherwise.
I buy my games dirt cheap on black friday, and I have GCU from best buy I get a shit ton of discounts on new games. And when I'm done, my friend borrows it and I borrow his, and then I sell my games. You can't do that on Steam. Also PSN does a lot of giant sales. PC gaming is not cheaper in the longer run, another lie PC gamers want to believe to make themselves feel better.

This whole elitist mentality of some PC gamers pisses me off. The fact you pay a couple hundred dollars more than console gamers and you waste countless of hours tinkering around the options and configs does not make you elite or master by any means.I bet most of them drive crappy four cylinder cars.

You will love the PS4, it's like night and day compared to PS3. It's a system made for gaming, all the things they added to the OS, and the DVR. I also love trophies, and how they improved the ecosystem and the community.

You can downgrade your PC to get some money and still play xbox exclusives and that good AAA PC exclusive that comes out every two years(if any), or just sell it and later buy a cheap one . I just sold mine and might put together a cheapo one soon for CIV6 (if it doesnt come to consoles) and xbox games. But first, I'm waiting for the scorpio, to see whats what.

EDIT: Let's see how many ad hominem and strawman I get. So far I got plenty. Keep it coming. You have to justify your money and time somehow.

Good luck.

This is almost as funny as "I'm an expert" but not quite. Maybe someone should make a dramatic reading or something to see how it stacks up.

When sony suggested that the pro was intended to serve players who may turn to pc, I laughed. I thought surely that would be a vanishingly small number of people for whom the pc is nothing more than a game machine with better graphics. But now I'm not so sure. Maybe there was some truth to that.

I mean, it should never have been something people should scoff at.

Sony said that their data showed that during the middle of the gen, certain console players jump to PC. Pro is their attempt to stop that. Obviously they don't think they can stop everyone. But if they can stop a few while at the same time sell hardware at a profit, that seems like a pretty good idea?

It balances out because I'm a previous console gamer who converted to full PC this year due to the PS4 Pro. I'm not happy at all with the idea of iterative console generations.

If your PC is "largely unused" there's probably little reason to keep it. I am moving from playing primarily on console to playing primarily on PC and while I get that PC is better, if you don't game on it what's the point of having a good rig?

Wow, What are those things that I supposedly lied about ?!

How am i dodging, it's you who was dodging. You just cherry picked one thing I said and now you are dancing around it.
15k peak for a new cod game is figuratively dead. Last year bo3 had way more on launch. This also means that only pro players are playing it. Casuals or core gamers will have no chance lasting online. And the probability of getting a hacked session will be extremely high.you'd only have fun playing in the small community with the pros
.
And yes you can argue, that there are titanfall, bf1 and cod4. But these games also exist on the other platforms. And I do not blame anyone for this. BF1 is a way superior game in my opinion, specially on PC. I played BF4 till the last day. and I think BF1 is better than bf4.
I apologize if I offended you.

- Calling "pretty much every AAA game" a bad port
- Most games being filled with hackers or dead

Those are the two big lies. On top of that, you go out of your way to attack people with "crappy four cylinder cars", and have spent this entire thread reciting logical fallacies that, for the most part, aren't actually there - and insulting others. You don't have any arguments, but you're sure willing to spread your FUD and attack other posters.

Also, let's not forget your insistence that anyone disagreeing with you is a PC elitist trying to justify their purchase.

The car thing is what really made me laugh. So you assume that someone's car is a relative to their personal wealth? I know people (including myself) that make over 100k and don't feel the need to drive anything else than a 4 cylinder. But you keep that going

I did scoff, tho. I imagined it would be such a small sliver if pc gamers that sony was maybe overstating this data for the sake of exposure. But it looks like there really are a lot of pc gamers that could be lured away by improved image quality alone. I always felt that pc gaming was so much more than a graphically superior console so I can scarcely relate.

Wait, I think we're on a different page. I don't think the Pro is meant to lure PC gamers away from PC (and it's unlikely to be successful even at a minor level at that).

But preventing console gamers from jumping to PC in the first place? I can definitely see that happening.

But those are not lies. I played PC since 2009. Online games are filled with hacker sessions and a lot of these games die quickly, for sensible reasons:
A.Overall there are less people playing these games on PC.
B. PC gamers tend to prefer certain genres and certain types of games. very skewed sometimes (BF>COD).
C. Once hackers take over, only the pro community survives, people bail.

And Most AAA games are crappy ports, due to bad optimization. That's the way it is, stop denying the fact.
I am not attacking people with four cylinder car. The first time I mentioned it, I meant it as an analogy. PC Elitist like to glorify themselves, of being superior because they get better gaming performance. All we do is pay a couple more hundred dollars for our system, and waste time tinkering around. The analogy was that, probably most of them drive "crappy" cars, and are fine with a four cylinder. which is hilarious granting that they consider themselves as a master race for having a gaming machine, and look down on anyone who is fine with a weaker system.

Substantiate your claims with proof or they're meaningless. "That's the way it is" isn't a source.

No, because he doesn't use it. How many more times does this need to be stated.

edit: seems like you did read that, so not sure why you think he should still keep the pc.

Because a PC and a gaming console has a lot more practical use than having two gaming consoles (with one being an upgrade of the previous anyways) and his specs can play singleplayer multiplats better from what we've seen so far. Even if there's no PC exclusives coming that's still a reason to keep it.

No, I find it hilarious, they look down on someone who plays consoles, because they play a beefed up pc. While they drive a 4 cylinder and are fine with it.

IKR, that he's talking about cylinders at all shows his ignorance. I'm all about that 0 cylinder action and I'd put money on my baby dusting whatever he has on strip or track (but I'm not on a big income at present so how this relates I've no idea, awful comparison).

That said I do agree with some of the points and what he's maybe getting at in general but I think this thread would be better off moving on and discussing other things.

Surprised nobody else that I've seen has mentioned selling complete PCs locally as I've found it far more profitable than breaking and/or selling online. I highly recommend it.

Of course, I'm basing my opinion on observation of the attitudes here on gaf, which can be a little uh... Skewed... From gamers at large.

I'm trying to sell my gaming laptop so I can get something lighter and cheaper, as well as putting some money toward my Pro. I have a desktop I built a year ago but my friend wants a PS4 so I offered to sell him mine for $200. That's more money than I'll get for trading into GameStop, and it's cheaper than any used PS4 he'll be able to find.

As for the laptop thing I just want something that can run Blender, use remote desktop, and possibly watch Blu-Rays.

seems a reasonable thing to me. Of course some will not be swayed, but others will see the increasing gap between PC and console and be tempted towards PC, but still uncertain and thinking there is more overhead in maintaining a PC and maybe less of their friends play on it. For those people a pro could perfectly well be a feasible alternative

For every bad AAA port, there are probably 40+ good ones. This is not accurate and you should know better if you gamed on PC at some point.

Also, can we stop pretending that every AAA release on a console has been nothing but top notch close to perfect type of bullshit...Get real

That usually doesn't happen unless it's an exclusive. Halo, Uncharted, Gears, God of War etc These games aren't perfect, but you could make an argument that most of them run and look a lot better than the AAA multiplats. It's not really much different on PC. The exclusives are often treated with more care than all of the multiplatform games.

Man this dude called it. I have a PC and I have a 4 cylinder car.

It's funny how 4cyl apparently equals bad somehow. The A45 AMG is four cylinder and that's practically a supercar.

How about this beast?

That's right, four cylinders.

I don't think he's trolling.

Definitely has an agenda though.

I'm going to purposefully ignore the bolded just because I refuse to believe anyone can be that crazy. It's definitely a troll.

Oh yea, I see what you mean.

As for basing it on GAF, yea, GAF definitely isn't indicative of the larger market, so we'll have to see how Pro sells to see how successful Sony is on either front.

I don't have a car. All my money went to the PC.

I don't even have a place to live, my PC was so expensive. And I don't even get to play any games on it because I spend so much time changing the graphics settings. All the hours racked up in my Steam profile are just playing with graphics options.

If only I had a console to set me free from this prison.

Good luck.

I drive a hemi V8. It feels great. I have nothing against people with an inlinefour. But if you are a PC elitist and you drive an inlinefour, you are pathetic, and I think it's sad.

PC elitism is bad. Car elitism is okay?

Neither one is good. You really just come off like a prick.

What's the meaning of this ?

Yes, feeling anxious? let's offend the poster.
Read the "EDIT" in the post your quoted.

i don't really care about the edit tbh, just thought it was a weird and agressive post

(with a lot of bullshit and lies, of course)

Wow, the PS4 Pro is generating some hilarious new gaming culture. I for one welcome this wacky new theater of the great platform war, look at the glorious memes it's already created.
