Coolio died Wednesday in Los Angeles ... TMZ has learned.

pronounced Coolio dead on the scene -- and Jarez tells us the paramedics suspect he suffered cardiac arrest. An official cause of death has not been determined.

He was a rap idol to me growing up. He represented rap culture in the mid to late 90’s. The film Dangerous Minds centered in on troubled youth, which was gaining more and more awareness on TV. I was probably too young to understand anything other than Gangsta’s Paradise. I watched the actual film years later, but that song is one of the first rap songs I ever memorized. RIP

If you never saw it, during his appearance on the you tube show Hot Ones, he was asked about that. He said looking back that he shouldn't have gotten upset about it. He was really cool and respectful about admitting to being wrong, which is something some people never learn to do. I admired him for it.

It was a good interview, and he seemed like a nice guy. RIP.
