Smiles and Cries Smiles and Cries seems there is a resurgence of #flubros Like back in the old days, remember, that’s why we have a worldwide pandemic and recession! Just flu.

some people will never respect how dangerous this virus is no matter what the numbers have been and continue to show

the longer this takes the more annoyed people will be and more and more they will say 'Just a Flu'

Yep, the flu that debilitates people afterwards, fills up ICUs at record pace, is far more contagious and far more resilient to warm temperatures. Please remember your mask.

How many people get debilitated, as a percent?

ICUs are fine - Newsom talked about that in his speeches. Dexamethasone will also help prevent people from having to use ventilators as well.

Super spreaders are much rarer than previously thought, and the virus has likely been spreading in the US since early January or even December given how many people are infected.

Well looks like up here in Quebec we have beaten the virus. Full deconfinement except boxing matches and water parks. Everything else opened with masks and 2M distancing.

Numbers will only be published once a week instead of every day.

Now we wait until the "2nd wave"

Honestly, this is what I am beginning to think needs to be done in the US. People and the media will not accept that the virus is basically as deadly as the flu, so info needs to be metered out slowly so that it cannot be dramatized day after day. Once a month would be great.

Thats pretty much what happened during the riots. No one was really talking about the virus. Everyone just forgot about it and did what they wanted.

Now that the riots are dying down its back to Covid Covid Covid.

Nearly 1,900 people likely died of COVID-19 in New Jersey but were not initially counted in the state’s death, though they now will be, Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy said Thursday.

Murphy said state health officials recently completed a review of thousands of death certificates of people who died with coronavirus symptoms despite not having been tested. Those people likely died from COVID-19, Murphy said.

The total amounted to 1,854 people, or about 14% of the overall death toll. That means the combined death toll of those confirmed with the virus and suspected cases stands at 14,872, the governor said.

“We report this out of nothing less than a solemn sense of duty,” Murphy said.

The newly reported deaths fall in three categories, according to Dr. Ed Lifshitz, the director of the Health Department’s communicable disease service. They include a large group of people who were part of a known outbreak, primarily at nursing homes and other similar facilities. Another smaller group was people who had what Lifshitz called a “less specific” COVID-19 test administered. The third group was located by combing through death certificates and searching for coronavirus cases that might have been missed.

Water parks are open. What is closed: boxing matches, public crowd shows and kids summer camps.

Thanks. I got those mixed up. I also think its only overnight camps?

But seems like we are back in Quebec and the virus is going to go to the background for now.

Will be odd with only once a week reporting nothing to keep track of anymore.

You ignore every post that brings perspective (latest example, the graph Evilore posted on the last page) and constantly jerk off to the fear porn. People say 'just a flu' because it's just a flu (with maybe an asterisk or two). I know it's hard for people to admit they were wrong, so hardly anybody does.

This isn't a second wave, it's just NY who had their first wave very quickly and now all the other states are having theirs.

Anyone have that 'top 10 dem vs rep states covid deaths' list still ? It's probably looking a little different now.

Yeah, the US is so big and the approach to covid has been anything but unified, so looking at the entire country at once doesn't make much sense.
Are there any states that actually are looking to have a second wave right now? I can't find the graphs this second, but from what I remember most states that see an increase now either didn't have a big wave yet or only managed to plateau.

Sorry but this Is dumb. Explain to me with facts and scientific evidence how this is Just a flu.
It's far more deadlier (0,1 vs 0,5-0,7 IFR) it's far more contagious (RO of 2,7 vs 1,4) and It also survives in hot Summer months, which Influenza does Not.

When did we get to a point where Medica had to choose which Person to Safe based in survival probability for Influenza? Why did 5 times more people die in certain cities in Italy in April? Why did the Number of death Jump extremely in the UK compared to other years?

Now pla, give me any reason how this is "Just the flu". And don't link me Videos, Tell me with your own words like i did now.
And if you start with the Argument "only Kills old people" then fuck you, i want my father and grandparents to live.

not to mention as is being seen on brazil, when it is not properly controlled hospitals are being overwhelmed.

Yes, that’s what happens everywhere , that’s what happened in China, Italy, France and Spain.

its highly contagious and people get ill, but a big part has no symptoms but spread it like crazy.

the problem is not even de death rate but the need those people who are hospitalized need, some are 6 weeks in the ICUs.

And because of this , people with other illnesses or accidents can’t get help so they indirectly also die from Covid-19.

So, does anyone think we’ll get that second stimulus check? I’m kinda doubtful about it, but I’d love it.

I think we will, but they'll probably wait for a SHTF moment. When eviction protections run out, $600 per week unemployment runs out, student loan payments get reinstated. All that and the second wave of covid + reduced business activity.

If you are invested in the stock market, I suggest you get out ASAP. Over 40.000 new infections in the US. Beating the previous record (back in April) by 10 %. Infections have gone up 100 % over the past two weeks, the situation is now worse than when the first lockdown happened. The individual states won't have another choice but to lock down again and for longer this time. Everybody who is against lockdowns will be voted out of office, people may not love lockdowns but they prefer lockdowns over irresponsible leaders. The stock market is not going to take this well.

Interesting article from CNN:

With infection numbers rising in more than 30 states, the US set a daily record for new coronavirus cases. And federal health officials warned that the number of people who've been infected is vastly undercounted.
Almost 40,000 coronavirus cases were reported Thursday, surpassing a previous one-day high on April 24, according to Johns Hopkins University.

"If you let everybody out without face masks and without social distancing in the middle of a pandemic, this is what was predicted."
And while more than 2.4 million cases have been diagnosed nationwide since the pandemic started, the number of people who have been infected is likely to be 10 times as high. Antibody tests show more than 20 million people have been infected with coronavirus, most of them without knowing it, said Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Antibody tests examine a person's blood for signs that the immune system responded to an infection. Federal officials have been conducting such tests nationwide to determine how many people had past undiagnosed infections.
"A good rough estimate now is 10 to 1," Redfield said.
Between 5% and 8% of Americans have been infected with the coronavirus, with the numbers varying by region. New York, once the epicenter of the pandemic, will have a higher percentage of people with past infections than some states in the West, Redfield said.

If I come in here, I come in here to be informed not to masturbate on being right or support my own politics.
Information, updates, tracking, and knowing what direction this shit is going so I can move the fuck out of the way.

I doubt I would ignore new information, I love perspective, do you have a perspective to share that is realistic and helpful to the discussion?
Are you sharing something that is going to keep me safe from getting this virus? I can't afford to ignore helpful shit dude.

I have many people in my ignore list but Evilore is not one of them.

As for jerking off to fear, I don't find being sick arousing. You don't know shit about me but I take my health very serously because I have to, at this point I don't give a shit why people still say 'just a flu'

I'm way beyond tired of being stuck at home, but thanks to stupidity I'll be stuck indoors for a long time to come. I don't find this shit entertaining.

Daily deaths are not really increasing anywhere, so it is not going to change.

The important thing death-wise is keeping it out of nursing homes.

Nope, it looks the same., NYC's peak daily deaths were almost 600 deaths. The entire US had less than that yesterday.

Weren't the models saying that by now the US would have 3,000+ die a day?

Seems like flattening the curve worked liked it was intended to.

And if so does that include BLM protests or their exempt?

And if BLM says no then you send the cops? National Guard? Army ?

No, it’s all 30 year olds getting it (median age of confirmed cases in Florida is 35 now, as opposed to 65 before), and the risk is infinitesimally small for them. They were all going to get it anyway. It’s a damn virus and we have to learn to live with it.

BLM protests are evidently fine, once the virus sees you are about to topple a statue it goes somewhere else.

I just like the duplicity and hypocrisy of saying Trump needs to do something.

When 2 weeks ago when Trump suggested enforcing a lock down he was called a racist. But now he needs to arrest law abiding citizens, but he can't do anything against murderers, thieves, arsonist, and vandals.

and we all know that if Trump said ok shut it down cases are out of control, BLM would expect an exception and "health" experts would come out and tell us that protesting is more important or some other BS.

BHAZ, CHAZ, BLM, ANTIFA they aren't going to just stop protesting and rioting. So all the calls for Trump to do something are just calls to shut down small business's and prevent people from seeing their loved ones, mainly law abiding citizens and Trump supporters. While BLM/Dems can go on the streets 24/7.

With regards to the market, the lockdown's not the real culprit. It's oil being thrown in the fire. A perfect storm of shit decisions. The feds, retail investors, hedge funds leeching.

Is anyone buying this? China claiming they have done 90 million tests.

It really depends... if you still think today's Chinese leadership and determination and their technology are weak and splintered... :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Looks like TX opened up too fast, too early. They're having to scale back now, ordering bars to close and restaurants back to 50% due to record-high cases across the state. There's about an 11.76% positive rate.

I don't know, but I do know that they have ran from Beijing scared of the virus, rumors are even Xi took off.

But ya, they didn't do 3 times as many as the US and 11 times as many as Germany. I buy this as much as Russia's 17 million test claim.

I haven’t been following this as closely lately, but does everyone agree we can't afford to lock down again?

Telling everyone to wear masks and social distance, quarantining everyone over 60/65, and allowing everyone to be as responsible as possible so they don't go near anyone elderly and the elderly don't go near anyone... that seems like the best course of action to me, no?

In Brasil now we are with a RO below 1 in Sao Paulo (the most populous state) and other states that were affected first, and we were nowhere near to the hospitals being overwhelmed, except in poor regions of the country like some parts of northern and NEer Brazil.

Contrary to popular belief, Brasil has one of the highest ICU per capta of world (i think is higher even than Germany and other well developed countries). Although is not evenly distributed (way more private than public beds), if shit really hits the fan the goverment can and will enforce the private setor to serve those with only the basic public "medcare" free of expenses (for patients).

I really believe that India will be the second place in this race if they dont do some chinese accountability like some other countries with the same population of Brasil, similiar populational piramids, way worse health care and higher populational density.
