Corpse Party: Blood Drive |OT| Not the Red Cross You Were Expecting

Do they have any intention of releasing addition CP games?

TOTP...yeah I have no actual idea how the voice work quality (technical wise) passed any sort of QA. Makes book of shadows look (sound?) like a masterpiece by comparison.

What was wrong with Book of Shadows, I don't recall any issues myself.

Yay just got my copy and started!
Not 30 minutes and already someone dies horribly~

But man...why couldn't Ch. 8 from BoS had been in this game?
BoS is 1.5 GB for frag's sake I ain't keepin' all THAT on my 64 GB just for that dang prologue =_=

There's another episodic sequel on PC called "Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient" that's one chapter in so far, and once there's been a bit more of that released, I'm sure we'll consider it for release.

Book of Shadows IS a masterpiece, thankyouverymuch! ;) I love that game.

Seeing all of these technical issues make me afraid to start (and no patch seems to be in sight) but man did XSEED deliver with a nice LE. The art book and soundtrack is pretty substantial surprisingly.

Started this over the weekend and just finished Chapter 5. I've managed to have it crash while trying to open the bonus menu on the title screen o_o.

I'm not sure what I expected from this game, but the wrong ends are quite underwhelming so far... None of them really impacts you like that one Yoshiki wrong end from the first game, and they rely much more on visuals. A bit disappointing.

Also, I hope Misuto dies horribly. Someone please tell me he dies horribly.

In a perfect world, both the Blood Drive prologue chapter from Book of Shadows and the otherwise unrelated to Hysteric Birthday 2U side story could have been plucked from those games and released as DLC for this one.

In a perfect world... I make no aspersions of the return on investment being worthwhile for XSEED to tackle either of those initiatives. But it would have been nice.

Hmm... a horrible death in a Corpse Party game? Perish the thought.

The horrible characters in Corpse Party tends to not die as horribly. I mean...
Kizami goes around terrorizing people. Yes he's an anatomical model, but that terrorizing part is probably something he wouldn't mind so much in life.

This...
is kind of an exception to that

They've already started doing exactly that, since only chapter 1 has been released so far.

Or are you talking about a localized version?

-Tom

Meant more that since they're remaking it that they scrap the episode idea and just release a full game.

Any comments regarding the flashlight?

I can forgive most of the loading/technical issues, but having the framerate plummet whenever the flashlight is turned on is a real bummer.

Ah I see, thank you!

And to be fair, Book of Shadows was 873 times scarier to me than the original game!

Chapter 9 spoilers
Drop bomb that exorcising phantoms kills them in the real world. Includes Trophy for killing all phantoms in the chapter. You monsters :(

Early-mid chapter 6 and
FUCK MISUTO! Fuckin seriously, Satsuki was awesome and I was really hoping she would survive this. Of course the fact she's likable probably meant she had to be another Seiko from the beginning, but seriously, fuck that.

Wow, Blood Drive really is poorly optimized. Also, it doesn't feel like it was developed by the same team behind the first two games.

Want to see how those dolls are that came with the Heavenly Host edition.
They're pretty adorable.

The freaky thing is that their necks stretch out like giraffes and their heads can be easily detached from (or swapped between) their bodies.

Creepiest thing in the game is in EX Chapter 3 or 4
where Naho and co. talk about gorging themselves on cake for like an hour. That's totally a weird fetish thing. I have no other explanation for how long, detailed, and out of place it is.

It
goes on for freaking ever, the thing is longer then some of the normal chapters and streaming it late at night can almost make you fall asleep.

Also the game is still creepy but not really scary anymore, some of the stuff is interesting to think about but stuff like
the last girl inside the nirvana having no detailed name or anything but just straight up destroying Ayumi's eye and other things makes it kinda a meh moment actually

Ending spoiler:
I think that girl is supposed to be a victim of the witch trials, but the game barely explores that. The story is a fucking mess. I was hopeful early on that the story was going cool places, but it just goes nowhere remotely interesting. Specifically, I thought we'd explore the fucked up real world with some of the characters, but nope Kuon has another everafter stone. I thought the crucified hammer man would come into play, but he never does anything. I thought something would happen with Ayumi being unable to use the bathroom, but no. I thought they'd explore the stuff about the people who replaced the dead characters, but nope. Satsuki was a pleasant surprise. Love that she bit off that little shit's head. Also love that she just used a toilet instead of pulling a Yuka and being annoying about it for hours.

yeah
I just don't get why we atleast didn't get a name or anything backstory wise besides vague witch trial hints, I mean her model was even hinted in the second OP so I thought she would be alot more important. But nope just ran up had some weird magic fight with Ayumi then pulled Ayumi's eyeball out and got a hug from Ayumi and wham gone or something.

so
the Queen never gets a name =/ .
Just think of her as the first in a long line of Shinozaki women. That's what I do.
I'm not sure a name matters all that much.

Ayumi fed her eyeball to an ancestral grandmother (insert however many greats before this), sealed Nirvana in herself and went off to enjoy her life as a wheelchair-bound vegetable doted on by Yoshiki... forgotten by all of her other friends and loved ones. Until Corpse Party 2, at least.

I thought Chapter 6 was bad but Chapter 8 was even worse.
How much of an idiot could Ayumi possibly be? Why does Aiko just stand around? Why did Yoshiki even leave? It's not like he doesn't know Ayumi will find a way to get into trouble. WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SO INFURIATING?

Edit: Well at least that ending was kind of satisfying.

Eventually you just have to learn to laugh and see the humor in Ayumi's always-trusting dullard behavior.

She's just a little slow.

I feel like they took Ayumi's worst traits in the first game and amplified it by 20. The only thing they didn't bring over was her tendency to go SATOSHISATOSHISATOSHISATOSHI, which I am at least thankful for.

On the other side of the coin, though,
Yoshiki is pretty much at his best in this game, I think. When he threw the Everafter Stones out the window (at that conveniently passing truck, with precision accuracy, but still!), I definitely was cheering for him. One of the best character moments in the game IMHO.

I always feel really bad for Yoshiki. He's like one of those characters who tries to do everything right, except it always explodes in his face because he's stuck with Ayumi. The convo he had with Ayumi the first time they bumped into each other in Heavenly Host this time actually just made me a little sad, because Ayumi is essentially saying to his face "You were being really mean by throwing away those stones so I wouldn't come back to this place where I would most likely die a horrible death, so I followed this this other guy who insults me every other second but that's okay because he agreed with me and so he's nice."

... This doesn't end well for Yoshiki, does it.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Regarding one character though past Chapter 6
Misuto was annoying as fuck and I wanted to kill him so much. I'm glad he's dead.
